Got a mid 90's craftsman GT6000 (917.255960) which is missing a couple teeth on the sector gear (the bigger of the two). Not having any luck finding a replacement part of course. Anyone know if you can swap in another assembly like the one shown here? Know of any PNs that would be direct replacement? I am equipped to cut and weld but would rather nut and bolt

do i have to do the tie rod or can i use theone thats already with it cuz im swaping steering and front end off a craftsman lt1000 to my 88 rally mower

Thanks for showing this video. Please forgive a dumb question, but in the videos I've seen, the Gen 1 looks stronger than the Gen 2. Wouldn't you want to keep the Gen 1 if that's what you had to begin with? It seems to be a better unit. My dad had a Gen 2 fail and we're looking for a solution to get him going again. I was looking enviously at the thicker gears of the Gen 1. What am I missing?

The gen 1 is metal on poly plastic that breaks. The gen 2 is much stronger metal on metal. But it is also a unit replacement with no serviceable parts.

@@redneckcomputergeek I used a reamer to enlarge the "nylon" parts & pressed (with a C-clamp) bronz bushings in my AYP. Only issue I have is I cannot find a "particular" manual for this Ranch King RK20H46 so it's a crap shoot ordering parts for a Craftsman, Husky, Poulan, etc if they're right
