@@rogerstlaurent8704 Some of the catalogs are actually on RU-vid. Someone actually has hour plus videos of 1960s (and other decades) Sears catalogs as it goes thru all the pages. and there's places to download the PDFs too but I can't help you with any real catalogs but I wouldn't be surprised if people sell them on eBay.

Nice Find on the flying V ratchet with the square handle and no quick release button and in great shape and looks like it was well used those old Craftsman Ratchets were like old Timex Watches they take a licking and keep on ticking ... do a part 2 with the Ratchet all clean up and give it a test run on some nuts and bolts

I have never personally come across a ratchet with that much crud inside it, but it doesn't surprise me one bit. I bought my 3/8 flying V as a complete set on Ebay, so it was pretty clean inside.

Maybe it’s because of their popularity but Craftsman ratchets a lot of times wind up like this.

Some people are against the use of Grease I for one use grease on course tooth ratchets. I mix it with the right consistency of a lighter oil that helps it not to dry out. You can use straight grease but you need to remember to inspect your ratchet every few months. Which can often be forgotten. I prefer my method because it keeps the grease where it should be on the moving parts. Some people make the mistake and use too much and that creates an internal drag which causes a poorly functioning ratchet. As for a fine-tooth always use a thinner oil for the fine teeth helps keep the oil where it should be. That Craftsman ratchet is a prime example of what grease looks like after 50 years. I really love this channel snappy you keep hitting it out of the ball park great work.

@@donaldgay9501 just use superlube and forget all that mess. It's so much better and doesn't harden up when it gets old like regular grease.

@@TylerSnyder305 that's what I use now is super lube thanks for pointing that out I meant to mention that in the ninety's I just used grease with a little oil mixed. This old dog is still learning LoL and this channel is a great community for that.

@@donaldgay9501 I used to cut the blue Lucas grease with a little bit of ATF before I discovered superlube, it was certainly better than using straight grease.

I really like these as-found videos. I’ve had a couple of ratchets in a similar condition and it feels good when the “after” is a clean, smoothly working wrench. Great video, thanks. 👍 🔧
