Hey man this mower is the only one i could find similar to mine , I have an old polan pro with a 17.5 hp Briggs and Stratton. All the videos I could find the engines weren’t the same they have a diffrent drain plug. On my mower it looks like it had a drain pipe like yours but on the other side of the engine opposite of the oil filter. That’s how I drain the oil correct? Thanks for any feedback I have no clue what I’m doing
@@TechTimeWithEric haha thanks for the reply man I know it’s not a lot to go off of, I have a Briggs and Stratton 17.5 hp I believe , 42d777, 2281, e3 . It’s an old polan pro lawn mower but not sure of the year. I don’t know why they changed the dang drain plug to some plastic junk couldn’t find a video of anyone changing the oil on my model
awsome video thx! Can u do a vid on tightening the line that throws the blades from off to on. I have to do it sometimes 25 times. once i couldnt even get it to ingage. recomendations? If it an easy tighten i can follow line im sure
I just used literally the same two quarts of oil the 10w-30 Kohler engine oil on my 22 hp in my craftsman. I have one of those they call them a 7000 series vtwin pretty good engine seems to be so far considering its a newer one
I have the previous version of your engine series called the Courage Plus (26hp) and have had no issues with it for the 145 hours I've run it so far. Well... there is a mild valve cover leak on the right side cylinder but that only requires a $4 tube of RTV sealant and a little time, but there have been no mechanical failures or issues.
The Courage and 7000 Series seem to be prone some do for valve cover leaking. No issues yet with mine but, my neighbors 7000 series leaked almost new from start he just adds oil back to it but, he says sometime he is going to take it somewhere for someone to fix it. They also have a 26 hp courage twin not the courage plus not sure what the difference is with 566 hours and still running pretty good for the most part. My 7000 elite series is around 82 something hours so far no issues mechanically out of the motor. A mechanic bascially told me there is not really that big of difference in a 7000 series and courage twin cylinders. He said the block on a courage and 7000 and even on the new confidant are all the same block. He swears by the older Kohlers though such as Command series which mainly are only found in big mowers now like zero turns.
427 Elevating Productions I doubt there is any difference between the courage "plus" and the regular courage v-twin. In fact when I look up the model # it comes up as the regular courage twin. There is a courage "pro" that seems to share some similarities to the command lineup (don't quote me; I may be wrong in that assumption) although I'm not sure if it has the hydraulic lifters that the command's have.
As you said don't quote me I will say the same thing dont quote me either hahaha.. I doubt the courage pro has those but, you never know. To my knowledge the Command was the only series they ever done with the hydraulic lifters I actually like a command pretty good no need for valve adjustment. I have a command vtwin also nearing 500 hours my neighbors with the other kohler engines in tractors gave me.
Yea, I always liked the command's. I have a 1993 single cylinder 14hp command (model # cv14s) that was swapped onto the 95 craftsman lt4000 I use. The original hours are unknown although I've put roughly 20-30 hours on it since I got that machine running, and it hasn't missed a beat or burned any noticeable amount of oil. Even for a single cylinder they run very smooth and quiet and the same applies to the v-twins. I'm actually somewhat curious as to how far off the valve adjustment will be when the 200 hour mark comes up on my courage twin (Kohler recommends it be checked every 200 for my engine). I've seen engines with only a couple hundred hours have their valve lash be off by as much as 0.010-0.020, so I hope that isn't the case with these engines.
