CAN appreciate everything about this! Do I completely understand it?! More than likely not, it's also extremely satisfying to see Old School methods still existing. Absolutely fucking love it!!! Keep bringing these old school methods to light. We're going to need them sooner rather than later.
When I did that I quickly discovered that my 6 ton press was only barely adequate. Wound up chinning myself repeatedly to straighten that Briggs and Stratton crankshaft. Those things are tough.

I was the straightening guy at work for years before retiring 3 yrs ago. U gotta do more than tap on it. I wonder how many guys are weighting to see it move. A tough one i had to do a lot was solid stainless 4 inch square bars 80 inches long straight to within .010" . And then there was things i had to get real close😊
I use to do that with push mowers using a pipe with matching I.D. they are pretty forgiving. Sometimes, I would get lucky with one or two hits and it would pop right back into memory.
We got them in a lathe, got the bent part red, a few taps, and straight. Blade hit a drain pipe, sheard the key in the flywheel, and bent the shaft, all from cutting the grass, to close.
