Never understood why people have such a hard time with Cold Hard Crash, it's not that bad, at least for me, but making almost every level in this new game like Cold Hard Crash is a bit overdoing it, I will admit. But I would like to debate over Dingodile versus Tawna for thick supremacy.

Dude you’re the best one to review and, more importantly, criticize the game. Playing the levels casually is a lot of fun, but I was playing it with a completionist mindset which was a nightmare and made me give up on getting all the trophies since they’re very hard to get. Challenge is fun but there’s a certain point when it becomes annoying and too time consuming.

The Completionist and AntDude both upload Crash 4 videos, no school, and I get to watch AntDude inevitably squeal about Crash's music. Today is a good day

I stuck with retro mode and the game gives you so many lives i never saw the game over screen. I died a shitload but i consistently had 90+ lives

Its been almost a year since i played Crash 4.. and ive said it multiple times since. Crash 4 is a great game. Terrific, in fact. Really shows how creative they got with it. But i feel as if theyre taking *too* much inspiration from Crash 1, especially in that difficulty setting. And dont even get me started on the completionist phase of the game. Levels are way too long, way too many boxes.. hell a lot of them are so stupidly well hidden, they might as well not exist at all. Ive 100% the classic games so many times so i naively thought i could do the same here. Oh how wrong i was. Take it from me, folks.. Crash 4 is an experience, enjoy it for casual play. But it becomes an endurance when you wanna try to get them all. Dont make the same mistake i did

Toys for Bob was also behind happy wars which was a pretty good multiplayer game that you can only play on one console (I think xbox one?) now. Wish I could play it some time.

It really shows that I've played too much Starcraft when the first thing I thought of when hearing the title was Tychus Findlay hunkering down in a corner of the Hyperion with a stack of pillows to play Crash. And this comment also reminded me that I, despite the amount of hours I poured into that series, still suck at it.

The name of the game makes so much more sense once you think about it, considering it took 22 years to come out (and no, I'm not counting Wrath of Cortex as Crash 4)

Spyro was always a year after Crash. Back in the day, the original game was one year later. Reignited was one year after N. Sane. Spyro 4 is practically confirmed for 2021

It sucks that both Toys for Bob and V. Visions got sucked into Activision’s main company hub and are only really focusing on Call of Duty now. Makes me wonder what could’ve have been with both Spyro, Crash and Tony Hawk after those successful remakes/remasters and Crash 4.

I do totally agree with you about the game, and on many different points. It's an absolutely great Crash Bandicoot game, it is really the great game that we were asking for since years, and it is one of the best platform games of the last generation. Also, graphically is really terrific, some environments are so beautiful, and the overall presentation feels such a blast (the plot maybe is not the best and it feels a bit like recycling Crash 3 and other games, but it's marginal and not so important). I appreciated the main soundtrack theme as well, it's in the style of the series but it offers its self jamming taste, like you said. But I also found the game frustratingly difficult at many points. The idea of replaying the same 38 levels, both for the additional N. Verted (I still have to try it but not a big fan of the idea), both to try to perfect them as much as possible (to get the N.Sanely Perfect relics, alternative timelines etc), is maybe putting the player to the point of feeling the nausea for the 106% completion, which is not really great. And mostly, because many levels are so hard and bastard if you want to collect everything in them. And also, relics are outdated, in 2020 I think they are just a useless heritage of 90s gaming. It is too much, asking that I get all platinums to get 106% in the game. I don't know if I will get 106%. Last, I do agree with you that a new experimentation on 3D open could work. I think the producers, the developers and the budget are adequate to reach this goal, and there would be no risk for having half-failed experiments like Twinsanity. :)

I remember wrath of cortex and twinsanity and now after thinking about it they were way better than the crash in shylanders

that was how i felt with all of the extras "it's great, but overwhelming" like I don't think i'll be 106%ing the game but I hope to at least reach the normal credits it took till the n sane trilogy to get all of the gems, may get the plats (brother borrowing it currently) also some of those hidden boxes, that's just rude in my opinion run it bayou (behind the stairs at the start SERIOUSLY!!!)

You know you’ve got a point about n gin and n brio being in the same room together. Unless you count twinsanity but brio doesn’t talk in that game at all. Lol

Absolutely agree with your review. Casually this game is just a joy, but I haven't even finished it yet, because I burned myself out with collecting all the gems I could, you'll just replay the levels so many times to get all of them and boy some of the boxes and hidden gems are really crazy. Like og crash had its fair share of well hidden and cheap boxes you have to grab on the first try, but in this game there's so many of them, it turns into frustration fairly quickly. The only thing I disagree with is the retro mode. I haven't seen the game over screen once, because there's actually so many boxes it's pointless. You'll collect so much wumpa fruit that you pretty much can't run out of lives unless you really suck...

Spyro Reignited Trilogy and Crash N Sane Trilogy were really good.Crash 4 appears it be awesome. I think a Spyro 4 will be awesome. If there's a trilogy I'd like to see get the same treatment, it would have to be the Pacman World games.

Little feedback: the N. Sane Trilogy and Reignited Trilogy are remakes, not remasters. A remake is made from scratch (like Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes) while a remaster just increases the resolution (maybe improve some audio, too) of an older title. I know it’s a minor thing, but I just had to bring it up.

M&M's: Shell Shocked did do it, just poorly. I grew up on that game, not Crash. I didn't even realise that Crash was that sort of formula until years later -- that, in fact, M&M's was just a cheap, much easier clone. It was still difficult for me as a kid on the later Levels, and it has some horrible controls and physics, as well. That 'uh, oh' death voice-over and animation of falling over is burnt into my brain, I tell you! It's pure magic. I'm new to Crash. Just completed the N. Sane Trilogy and played a bit of the 1996 original. I'm seriously in love, and far beyond that of M&M's, though I still love that game on PS1. I might complete M&M's once and then sell it, because it's nothing compared to Crash. But, what it had it had in spades: endless Crate-smashing goodness in corridor-like Levels! That is the heart of Crash and always has been. It helped to bring back classic, difficult platforming in the late-1990s, and it's here to stay -- I hope. Crash 5 needs to build on Crash 4 whilst removing the N. Verted Levels, and streamlining everything else. Boom. Crash 5 has to be the perfect Crash game, and one of the best platformers of all time, assuming they actually complete it, and without ruining everything. We can live in hope! I rated the N. Sane Trilogy at 87/100, for what it's worth. A remarkable game, with just a few things holding it back, for me (mostly in Crash 2 and 3, and certain issues on the Switch version. I cannot confirm regarding the other versions). Due to many Switch games not being to my taste -- either indie or hyper-modern -- and many visual and otherwise issues with the Switch, I figure that the N. Sane Trilogy is one of the best Switch games.

Appearances in other popular media, a great remaster, an excellent cart racer, and a refreshing sequel. Crash fans are absolutely getting spoiled right now, lol. The only thing that could make it even better would be Crash in Smash or something.

So it does World-building in levels like DKC:TF, and has stupid amounts of 100% completion collectibles that are not fun to get like DK64. That’s two more parallels to DKC then I was expecting.

This is the best review I’ve seen, nailed it. DKC:TF on the first run and DK64 after the credits. I had to consciously stop caring about the gems to enjoy my first run. I’m about 2/3 toward 100% and I’m enjoying it enough to keep going but it’s painful, I wouldn’t be doing it if we weren’t in a pandemic, I’ll never do it again, and I recommend everyone avoid it...

I beat crash 4 on retro and never once saw a game over. Don't get me wrong I died a metric fuck ton but I didn't game over once.

I played through the game and loved it! But I didn’t even try to go for the box gems😅 playing through the game alone just level after level is still a blast I honestly think this is now one of my favorite platformers of all time!

Great game with A LOT of flaws. But considering how long it was dormant I see past many of the issues with it, like the insane grinding.
