The short story flatlander (Not the novel) from the short story collections of both 'Crashlander' and "Neutron Star'. All of the short stories in these 2 collections take place in Larry Niven's Known Space Universe.
Great story. It's been years. When you don't have a whole lot of options of stuff to cut to and one of your characters is named Elephant, cut to a conversation happening between an elephant and a giraffe. I dig it.😆
Dude, your channel is making one old man happy. I loved these stories as a young man & listening to them now brings a smile! Thank you 🙏 Oh you use of animal pictures to keep the dialogue straight was…joyful.👍🏽🖖🏾✌🏽
Neutron star was the first book of science fictions I ever read. That book captivated me and lead me on to 40 wonderful years of science fiction reading. His “tales of known space” is such a great universe to explore.
A spectral analysis of the radiation should have tipped them off. The mass energy of a proton is around 931 MeV. Proton-antiproton annihilations from collisions with the interstellar hydrogen would have caused a pronounced peak at that specific energy.
Where the heck do you get all the images you use? Many of them would make GREAT wallpaper for my computer! Good story! I enjoyed it. I have read quite a few Niven "Known space" novels - Neuton Star stands out. Thank YOU!!
Honestly, I just type terms into google and then go to the images tab. Things like "space", "planet" or in this case I searched for any 'known space' terms I could think of like "Puppeteer", or "ringworld". I'm always surprised by what I find.
