The 2021 Crater Trail 50k was not my first ultra distance run, but it was my first race that was an ultra distance and my first race that was on a trail. A lot of new things for me in this race, and the course and the heat were certainly formidable. My goal going into this one was to have fun and experience what ultra trail is all about.
Towards the end of my second lap on this course, it occurred to me that I may have inadvertently cut the course by missing a turn. I notified the race director when I finished and let her know that I would be ok if that meant I was a DQ or a DNF. I will be double checking my GPS tracing and following up.
Total elapsed time: 5:51:47.
