Rc4wd used to make a ARTR I’ve got a few.

That box is unreasonably thick considering that it's whole purpose was to hold... another box. I had a welding table (that weighs 80lbs) come in a thinner box than Axial uses.

Just installed that clip less system on my CJ7……..I had a really hard time putting the clips back on…took all the fun out of running this rig…..without the clip less set up I’d either sell the rig or it would be a shelf queen.

I got it at $300 too. I love it so much. My servo striped so already got a new one. But yeah, away bar makes a huge difference. I added some brass and 3d printed scale goodies. I feel like the stock power system is really good though. Great low speed control. It’s not a performance crawler so I don’t see this need for a fusion pro or something.

I wish Jenny's parted out more rigs, including Axials and Elements. Might be the closest we ever get to getting kits, buying torn down RTRs piece by piece.

It's been done a couple of times already, so yeah. The Fordyce was sent in, I borrowed the Honcho and the Bushido, etc. Just be aware-- any rig that shows up here gets the once over, and repairs/corrections will be made as deemed necessary.

So 20% is the differential? I don't know why they bothered. IIRC Traxxas is around 50%, and the Benedict Harry 10.2 box has to be at least 66%.

Worst you've seen, you say? Well, now you have my attention. The SC480X + Reedy Crawler 540 has basically non-existent drag brake, no matter the adjustment. I'll have to put a suitable programming card to this one and see what it does at "it's best."

@@CrawlerCanyon Missed the notification for your reply. I tried tuning the drag brake with the Hobby Wing program card but it had very little effect.

I mean, it works-- but it will still be oversprung (with the 1.4lb body, no less) and they'll still be leakin'. If I'm gonna pull 'em to put on appropriate springs and throw in Desert Lizard seals to make them less leaky, I might as well just put 90s on it. I don't understand Axial's fascination with hundreds. They put them on the BaseCamp kit, and they did not fit that rig at all.

@@mfnJOSH I have a drawer full of them from buying several sets of Desert Lizards, so I can't say. I know that on RPP the seal pack shows as "discontinued by the manufacturer," so that's not promising. These Axial shocks are leaking... pretty severely.

@CrawlerCanyon yea. Ive never had much luck with any axial shock. I have an entire organizer full of them. It would be nice to make them useful some how.

Pretty much. And the Early Bronco was just a rebodied original JLU 10.3. Much like the Falken Edition over at Vanquish, Axial must have a whole lot of those 10.3 mushboxes lying around. Gotta get rid of 'em somehow.

Just my opinion but brazing in the garage is going to be easier short term. Mr Canyon has a flux core equipped welder, as do I, and while you can make it work, it is essentially wire feed stick welding. It can be a challenge to get a clean looking weld on small parts with flux core so building up and grinding smooth is the easier way with that method. Moving up to MIG is more investment and TIG is another step up the money scale. Buying a nice welder for just RC parts is a lopsided investment if you aren't doing other projects with it too. In my current living situation, I don't have 220 in my garage, so my TIG is dormant until we move again or invest in that addition. I am not sure our current panel and service will support a big outlet so it may not be something that's easily added. You also should get a decent part of gloves and a welding mask is absolutely required. The arc is bright enough that closing your eyes for tacks is insufficient to protect your sight. I've gotten sun burns while welding in short sleeves, so keep in mind the investment is more than just the welder and wire. Knowing what I know about welding and that stuff, I'd probably buy a small bottle acetylene kit that would make short work of anything RC related. Acetylene will provide quick heat to braze too. Another thing to consider is, are your parts on the plate while heating? That plate will act as a massive heat sink and suck all the heat out of your workpiece. If you can mount it elevated off the plate, in a small vice maybe, that should help. Another detail I learned the hard way brazing is I have to get the work hot first, then apply the filler. If you're melting the filler in your flame vs it melting when touching the work, often the work needs more flame. You may know all that already, so I don't mean to come off as condescending in any way

All good points for discussion from the Canyon himself. LoL. I used to weld at a local power plant over 10 years ago. Mostly boiler tubing and a few support structures here and there. I live on a small hobby farm, so the welder would be large enough for most work. I have a dedicated stick welder for anything of heavy gauge.

@@chrispearce9224 Oh yeah with a farm and shop, you'll get good use from something like a MIG. Less splatter and you probably don't need the high current. You'd be able to weld on thinner material too with less worry of blowing holes in it

I dry-fit the Injora silicone in the tires-- it's a near-perfect fit.

Your channel is an idea i had around the same time, need a neighbor with scrap concrete. Thank you for the help, I send people here as often as possible for tuning and reviews. Running class 1 tusk on 30mm wheel, injora 2stage center with 2 loops of fridge foam. Canyon specials are amazing. Hope to be a member soon

I think the real issues isn't we so-called experts, but that the starting point is rising higher and higher. The rig alone is $500-- plus batteries, charger, etc. Want 2-speed? That costs too. But yeah, some noob would have a blast until they tried to do anything remotely technical.

OH, the gearbox is terrible. Luckily though, that horrible gearbox is mounted to a skid that's just flat with two holes in it. It's easier to gearbox swap a 10.3 than maybe anything else. They may have finally fixed the AR45, so there's an upside.

@@CrawlerCanyon That is good to know, still not sure I would waste my time with it. I am a big fan of my Ecto so that is going to be hard to beat.
