I've heard the slotted rotor argument before as well. Never understood the logic, you want to dissipate the heat by expelling it away from the heat source. Not only that, the slots are there to remove the carbon or metallic particles away from the barking surface. Even if you are dead set on bringing air into the rotor, you're bringing in water, road debris and brake dust into the calipers.

Awesome video again Colt ! Rats nest sure has come along way and its looking great .I like the upgrades you did to the Crawler Hauler . It should haul Rats nest without any problems .I also run Optima batteries and I think there great , I also just installed Power Stop brakes on my TJ as part of the many things I have done to it over the past 3 months. I haven't drove it yet to bed in the pads but it should be up and running within the next 4 to 6 weeks . Catch you on your next video ,take care sir.

the best way to dig through your bolt container is to lay down a towel and then dump the bin out on the towel so you can spread the bolts out and then you can just lift the towel to funnel the bolts back into the container

The Hauler is an excellent idea, another point is not as many tires and wheels to keep an eye. As for bolts when I am picking parts at a junkyard or even have a scrap engine to haul away I pull all the bolts that look like they are something and keep them. Get a good supply of metric stuff that way. scrap yards don't care if you take the bolts. There is a lot of useful bolts on an engine or junk car that can be repurposed. With handy cordless guns you can get a good assortment pretty fast. Even with a good bolt bin you still need one like you have for those factory type bolts you can't buy anywhere. Fun to watch a channel where there seems to be no end to money they can spend. Safe travels.

Hey brother. 👍. I lived on the west end of the Grand Canyon for 9 years and it was a 80 mile one way to go shopping for anything. I now live in western Nebraska, in a village of 500. So we would joke at the Grand Canyon that if you went to the hardware store to get a bolt you not only bought the one you needed but you got one shorter and one longer and maybe a few nuts. I had a small shed with a wide variety of spares in it. I would have friends that worked for park service stop by to see if I had what they needed before driving into town.

I use plastic peanut butter jars for my bolts. 1 jar per size, a couple jars for 1/2" as needed for short bolts and long bolts. The nuts and washers go in their own jars, per size of course. Also for fine threads and course threads per size of bolts and nuts.

Hushmat is also a thermal insulation. You might could use one of those type products under your hood. Getting that oem hood insulation might be a junkyard find if one could be found in decent shape
@treya2403
@treya2403 2 года назад
I was gonna recommend a spray foam for under the hood but you don’t wanna use just any spray foam lol but it insulates takes out engine noise and you can paint over it to match the engine bay , or sheets of foam cut it to length order the felt , put spray adhesive lay it on it smooth once dry use some Hillman push in fasteners they hold way! Better

I believe that health checkups and prescriptions in the US are prohibitively costly. My understanding of US culture is that nobody walks anywhere if they can avoid it, nobody uses manual labour if they can pay somebody else to do it for them, or they can buy an electric gadget to avoid using physical effort to accomplish a task. US attitudes to meal portion control is a source of much amusement and consternation across other western developed economies. Frankly, how any US adult male survives to be old enough to become a grandparent is a wonder. Why wouldn't the poor man be gasping, might it just be hayfever?

With the Ford axle it's worth getting the axle nut socket.. don't tap it.. it's a racheting lock nut.. it doesn't use a double nut and lock ring... Just a thought the 99 03 sterling axle.. he showed tapping it off but the nut is pretty fragile..

I personally replace rotors every other cycle regardless of wear. They tend to run hotter over time, reducing efficiency and longevity of the brakes, increasing the opportunity of failure.

Colt, you cut out extended wheel arches, but you haven't extended the mudguards outwards covering your tyres, to prevent crud being chucked across your windows, mirrors, door handles and all along the side of your vehicle. Not just you, but pretty much every RU-vidr out wheeling over in the US, even the serious 'mud pluggers'. Is this just a fashion statement, that you guys over there feel the need for everything to be covered in muck to be considered bone fide wheelers? As a former long distance cyclist, here in Scotland, I have a similar issue with our cyclists, paying through the nose for expensive pro gear, that in reality makes next to zero difference to their actual cycling performance, out on the road with a dirty wet stripe right up their back, when a pair of simple clip on mudguards, weighing zero ounces and having next to zero drag, would prevent that discomfort, and likely future health issues.
@bleepinjeep
@bleepinjeep 2 года назад
So a couple reasons for that, extended fender flares are more fragile to rocks and trees and take away from visibility on rocks. They serve a purpose for those in high muddy areas and definitely look good on certain builds. In this case I just need larger wheel openings and wanted to give it a clean look on a budget using the stock fender flares with a little redesign.
@gordonmurray3153
@gordonmurray3153 2 года назад
@@bleepinjeep yeah, that makes sense. Though am I wrong in thinking the wheels themselves block your view? Wouldn't you only be putting mudflaps where your view is already obscured? Like those guys at a junction who won't pull out, because they can't see beyond the big 18 wheeler turning outside of them. A sheet of stiff rubber behind the wheel, secured inside the wheelarch, seems to me is not going to obscure anything but the crap being thrown up by the tyres. Just saying 😉👍 Loving your content btw.
