Crayfish, or Murray crayfish are the largest crustacean found in our local waterways. The Murray crayfish is a species of spiny crayfish found in the Murray Darling basin. Although the crayfish in this video may seem huge to some, especially the last one, they actually get quite a bit bigger than these as can be seen in some of my recent crayfish videos.
The Murray spiny crayfish is a seasonal species to target which is only open 3 months of the year, and that is the winter months.
Yabbies are a small crustacean of which there are many species in Australia. The yabbies found in the Murray Darling basin are not subject to a seasonal closer as they are much more prolific and usually found in the warmer months.
