I'm colts fan and I'm not sure how I feel about wentz but everyone knows the eagles don't win 13 games with foles as the main starter but then again idk if wentz wins the eagles the super bowl either so maybe put wentz in his tee shirt highfiving foles in the statue lol
Aaron Rodgers picking number 12 was a passive aggressive way of telling Brett favre he's three times better than him. Or at least I like to think it was
But he really isn't. I hate Bret Farve for a reason. Im a niner fan to the core.. And i Remember Bret Farve always knocking us out of the playoffs. I dont hate Roger's cause he's never beat us in the playoffs 🤣
Wade Phillips gettin fired like that is a perfect example of how buying in to stereotypes can ruin your mindset. He refused to accept that the 5’10 QB was the better option because of the stereotype that QBs have to be talk to succeed and it was his downfall. He should have been fired the minute he benched Flutie going in to the playoffs after going 10 - 5. It’s like he refused to admit a QB under 6 foot tall could lead a franchise (laughs in Russel Wilson)
The Flutie-Johnson one I feel will forever live in infamy. After some fantastic seasons in the CFL it seemed like the script was written that Flutie was going to show the world that a shorter, older quarterback is still good enough if he's got the heart for it. Too bad the Bills staff were illiterate when it came to that script. The Rivers-Brees one is the closest one we've had since (with Drew's shortness), but Drew obviously got his happy ending, and Philip was still actually GOOD for a long period of time, unlike Rob Johnson. Most of the Chargers' failures came from something stupid happening outside of Philip's control.
@@dannyscott5821 Fail. A lot. Growing up in San Diego I had to watch them underachieve year in and year out. I finally ragequit in 2016 when they became the only team in two years to lose to the Hue Jackson Browns.
Funny that Brett Favre said rodgers should watch and learn. Favre: Most Ints for a long time quarterback Rodgers: least ints for a long time quarterback.
I love how the Packers just stopped putting up with Favre. Every year it was maybe he will maybe he won't, and he thought he was untouchable. He called it quits, then said nevermind, and instead of saying "tough luck, Aaron" they stuck by him 👏 Some (not alot) of Packers fans got mad at Favre and stopped being fans, but he'll always be one of my favorite players ever. And I'm glad I've had the chance to root for 2 first ballot HOF QB's my whole life 😁
@@RedMo46 Not in the playoffs sadly… we’ve made the playoffs 23 times in the past 30 years and only have two rings, while the buccaneers have been in like 9 times and have the same amoont
The controversy would have been so much more crazy with Manning and Brees. Too bad because Eli’s dad didn’t want him to play there so that’s why he was traded.
Not many people remember Drew Brees was trash as a Charger. I was so surprised when he became a hall of famer as a Saint. Just goes to show, sometimes you just need a change of scenery.
What made the Brady/Bledsoe one even juicier was the fact that Brady got hurt in the AFC championship game. Bledsoe came in and won the game. Brady's status was questionable leading up into the Super Bowl. That re-sparked the controversy before the most important game in franchise history.
@@ghosttoast8610 No. He threw under 50%, but it sort of showed people that he was healthy. Remember, that Brady was the new guy who wasn't a big number stat guy. Bledsoe was an elite arm talent that had taken the Patriots to the Super Bowl once before. A lot of fans at the time thought Bledsoe should start over Brady in the Super Bowl. My dad was one of them lol
I was incredibly happy when Doug Williams won the super bowl as a Redskin. I watched him while he was at Tampa bay and saw a lot of promise in him. Thanku Mr. Williams.
I feel like qbs are always rivals even on the same team just because there's no combo QBs threat like other positions, there's multiple rbs can be sets with multiple TE'S RBS can split carries and get cool nicknames like dash and smash lol never heard of a QB combo duo it's always one even if they split snaps early on till the #1 is decided
the Saints were the closest thing to a QB combo when Brees and Hill were both on the field. Didn't happen often but Brees would sometimes toss to hill who would then drop a bomb downfield
I'm surprised a major city like Philly would choose the wrong superstar. Foles is by far the best choice for Philly over Wentz. Not sure how it's so blind for the organization. Should've gotten picks for Wentz like the Walker trade.
as a Bills Fan, i was heavily upset with the team. I have heard numerous times it was Ralph wilson who forced philips to play johnson. Philips looked like a gutless man benching flutie.
All of the of the teams end up signing a new quarterback and he ends up getting the starter and then they trade the starter and end up making the right decision except the chargers
The slow start Brees had with the Chargers at the beginning of his career was due to the lack of what can only be described as a sub-mediocre offensive line. When you spend nearly every snap running for your life, it doesn't matter if your name is Elway, Montana, Young or any other super star QB at that time, you are not going to score many points. It should also be mentioned, when the O-line that would eventually protect Phillips very well and put Tomlinson in the NFL's legendary RB's category with a bust in the HoF, was beginning to come together, LT was not only Brees's ground man, but his No. 1 receiver. In 2001, Brees first season and the teams worst showing since the mid 70's (5-11), it was late in the season and they were playing the Chief's in Diego and being beat by 19 If memory serves me. Early in the third, the QB who started was Flutie who got injured and Brees put in for the first time in a regular season game. The Chargers under the Rookie Brees would go on to take the lead 20-19 late in the fourth, but due to a rookie error by Brees, it would allow the Chiefs to score one last time and win 25-20. Watching that game and Brees first time playing in a regular season game, I (you would have to be blind, dead or both to not see he had poise, confidence and ability to read the defence that very few rookies possessed and usually only demonstrated by veterans. Having Flutie there when Brees was a rookie to learn from definitely made Brees even better sooner. In 2003 disasterous campaign, fan's unjustly were calling for the team to trade Brees, writing him off as a bust. As I mentioned, the problem wasn't the young Brees, the problem was no protection, but that would finally change in 2004 when the pieces that had been missing came together and Brees lead the team to it's first AFC west championship and playoff since 1995. In 2005 when they failed to make the playoffs and Brees suffered a rotator cuff injury in the seasons final game against Denver and the drafting of Rivers, the team found it self with 2 QB's of starting caliber, one a rookie of above average ability and potentially the starting QB for many seasons and a proven talent in Brees, but coming off an injury that most never come back from to the level they had been, one they realised needed to go in order to prevent animosity and /or discontent within the team. They chose to trade Brees to New Orleans and it worked out well for him and the Saints with Brees having the career that proved him to be the elite QB so many had doubted early on. For Rivers, he proved to be the top tier QB many thought or hoped he was and to have been able to learn from Brees the brief time they had as team mates paid off for Rivers and the Chargers as Flutie had with Brees. By 2006 and Rivers first year as the teams starting QB, he had the good fortune to have the protection of one of the NFL's best O lines and a great blocking back for Tomlinson and a TE and receivers that were dangerous, reliable and allowed for the ground game that evolved . There was never a QB controversy, both Rivers and Brees got along very well, the only controversy was the one that never evolved by trying to keep 2 QB's who could start with any team and get results, on the same team. (Sorry this was a bit long)
Having lived through it, Flutie vs Johnson was so dumb. One guy had the prototypical build and build and huge contrqact and the other played better and won more games and the fans loved him.
@@alexanderquintana8573 I hope not the Broncos. We’d have a Peyton manning situation all over again, but worse. I bet he stays. He has no reason not to now
Roger's now knows how Farve felt neither QB ever had a GM that got them weapons on offense if either QB played for a owner like Brady did they both might have one hand full of rings some may say no but name 1 player to go into the hall of fame with either QB from the offensive side of the ball and don't say Adam's he had 1 good season to early or sterlin Sharp who played 2 season with farve but if not injuries would've but name 1
Love both Wentz & Foles but the fans are reactionary. Wentz put his health & body on the line for the city for years and ppl wanna act like he wasn’t needed for Foles to get the ring. No Wentz going 11-2, no SB ring for Foles. Almost did a back to back SB run but Wentz got hurt again by a dirty hit, this time he didn’t even recognize his own wife and Philly fans make jokes 🙄🤦🏽♂️ then the year after that was worse with more injuries & fans turned once announcers who’ve never played said he sucks. 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️ Wentz is mentally defeated bc of all of that, if he didn’t get injured the first time then he would’ve gotten us the ring & statue, no QB controversy. It takes a toll mentality. The Eagles organization can’t manage. They got rid of or let the main ppl go after 52.
@@lavanna80 but he had plenty of opportunities, as a matter of fact Favre is 13-10 while Aaron is 11-10…At Home ? Favre is 10-3, Aaron is 5-3, Aaron maybe more efficient, but that’s pretty much where the comparisons stop
Put some respect on Fluties name. The man didn’t “bounce around”, he was the greatest CFL player of all time winning four Grey Cups and six MVP awards. The guy won almost everywhere he went. His first stint in the NFL wasn’t great but then again you really didn’t have many people who believed in him at the time due to his size. It’s criminal what the Bills did to him, they had a shot at SB appearance if they stuck with him
Eagles fans didn’t forget what Wentz did, Wentz struggled in 2018 season, and it got worst in 2019. I will NEVER boo Wentz, he paved the path to Super Bowl 52, and I will always have some love for him for that! 💚🦅💚
Rodgers is the better QB, but Favre will always be my guy. He was fun as hell to watch and he defined the word “gunslinger.” 3 time league MVP to boot.
