This is the cheapest slow train operating in China. It operates at a speed of 80-160km/h on different sections, with many stops and long stopping times. It serves low income people and remote routes. The number of slow trains is decreasing, but additional numbers are run on holidays to supplement capacity.

My dad used to travel to China between 2005-2007 for business, and he had brought this Chinese Wine in a white bottle, Baijiu I think it is called. It was sooo strong and nothing like I had ever tasted. He used to get yummy sauces, chilli bean sauce, lots of different kinds of mushrooms. The letter before the train number represents the train level, for example: Regular trains: 1427(none:normal speed） K411(K means fast, up to 120km/h) T184(T means super fast, up to 140km/h) Z82(Z means direct train, up to 160km/h) high-speed trains: C2011(C means intercity trains, usually operates between two very close cities, like Beijing and Tianjin, can up to 350km/h) D307(D means high-speed train up to 250km/h) G306(G means high-speed train up to 350km/h) The regular trains have 3 different kinds of seats, not 4, the business class are only available on high-speed trains. Let's take T184(from Shenyang to Wuhan) for example: Hard seater 217 RMB(2513 INR) Hard sleeper 370 RMB(4285 INR) Soft sleeper 585 RMB(6775 INR) (The soft sleeper is so-called "first class" with carpet on the floor, never 12000 INR) Remember the distance is 1898KM, so it is a fair price. The last time the price of a regular train increased was in 1996, but the speed has increased from 80 to 160 and air conditioning has been installed, this is all achieved through government subsidies, just to meet the travel needs of ordinary people. We can also see the price of high-speed trains, G1292(Shenyang-Wuhan, 10 hr 25 min), second class is 725RMB(8396 INR), also not expensive for regular Chinese people.

I visit India twice a year for work in Chennai and Pune, stay in high end hotel and eat in either hotel or office majority of time, and I have diarrhea every day. I had an expensive meal at hotel one time, the lamb cooked in lamb oil almost made me puke. Foreigner doesn’t get along with local food is norm, just don’t show any disrespect.

China is best travelled after knowing basic chinese atleast. Or else it's really painful. Once the language barrier is removed one can really have fun in china. Unlike Japan very very few people have real exposure to English. Just speaking from personal experience.
