That's it exactly. Apparently premier league's top 6 had NCL in mind when these rules were brought in. Nothing to do profit or sustainability, everything to do with maintaining the status quo.
@@ofoftheof That shows in the fact it hasn't moved in 11 years since coming out. Started at £105m and is still £105m. Premier league hasn't heard of inflation. Yup, fixed for the septic 6.
PSR is fucking bullshit. It's supposed to help with clubs bringing their prospects through not selling them. That being said £30M for Minteh who hasn't even kicked a ball for us and £35M for Anderson who was probably our 5th choice midfielder is an absolute steal
We shouldn't have to sell our future stars. They both were likely to be in the first team for a number of years - it won't be a steal if we have to pay more than their fees in the future for first team players in their positions. I'm sure that neither player really wanted to leave - especially Elliot.
The pl is the 20 clubs. If a club wants to change the rules they will put it to a vote. If 2/3 vote to change them they change. Otherwise you abide by the rules. So no there will be no massive movement against them. Unless they fail to uphold the rules.
Thanks Keith for some total transparency sick of all other Toon channels posting every second with here say . Nice you keep us updated, don't leave it so long please even a update talking some sense
I know as a newcastle fan i'm going to have this view but what a ridiculous situation. That the richest owners in the footballing world are having to sell players to appease rules supposedly brought in to stop clubs going bust! It's absolutely farcical! And that before we even get to the blatant two tired system that continually protecting man citeh! What a complete disgrace!
I agree, as crap as it is to lose both these players when we should be offloading miggy, longstaff or Wilson…I’d rather lose them two than our top players
That’s the thing, miggy, longstaff, Wilson, Dubravka, target no one interested in them, well not massively so we’ve had to sell these two, I’d however would have kept minteh, still think we should have taken a point deduction. Would have been livid if we sold Gordon or isak to a prem rival
@@ronwhitfield8872😂😂 they just need to be smarter and ruthless. Also need to get rid of a lot of the hangers on who are commanding a high wage and not contributing to the first team. Too many players from the Ashley era seeing out their contracts. We deffo need to sell Almiron and Wilson.
Minteh will come back to bite us very very hard. I really thought this club had turned a corner with the new owners, but it seems like little has changed. Buying Tino and Hall under Dan Ashworth put us right in the shit!
Clear that these rules are there to protect the cartel clubs from others muscling in on their turf. The idea of a football pyramid is those at the bottom have a hope to get to the top of the tree, clearly that door has been shut and it's a clear restriction of trade. Clubs operate as businesses. Have a feeling this will blow up in PL faces in the future.
I hope he's good for you, really disappointed to lose him. Great touch, turns well on the ball and has a good engine. Wish him all the best and it he continues to improve, maybe we will take him back at some point.
? ?? How, because the corrupt p.l have gotten the club with the rithchest owners in the world, & yourselves to do deals, that certainly, I, & nufc didn't want to do. But that's all you take from this. FFP, PSR, needs gone, yesterday !!
Bang on mate, they are just itching to put our tranfer dealings under the microscope while Chelsea bend the rules, when we sold maxi they were questioning the sale coz we got around 30mill for him which everyone thought was son the cheap, but when Man U ask 15mill for a 3month loan not a peep fro the FA and Man U blatantly poach Ashworth and absolutely nothing is said even tho we have evidence to prove it, if we went over our FFP the points deducted would be instant but the Ashworth carry on is pushed to the side.
PL wont exist much longer, there going to tank the Man City situation claim there bankrupt themselves when city win and beg the govt to bail them put thus leading to govt regulator. There just greasong their snouts at the big 6 trough for when there looking for jobs post being out of work when the regulator comes in
Initially he will be gutted, but he has friends there in Wood and Shelvey, once he settles and realised how much game time he’s going to get he’ll be happy there.. It’s a good move I think.
Yeah as soon as its july 1st were 100% overpaying for murillo or MGW 😂. Psr literally has invented a new type of transaxtion which borders on money laundering behavior albeit 100% legal and above board. The PL are a joke, absolute shambles of a set up.
@@MB-gl7fx totally agree. I hope that he goes on to bigger and better things. Shame that we invest in home grown talent and don’t nurture and coach them towards longer term first team stability. Gutted to see him go but he’s taking one for the team. Others should have gone but too many seeing out their contracts and offering very little. Great signing for Forest but definitely gutted to see him leave. Definitely the top 6 looking after themselves. It’s a joke! We move but it’s sad that it has to be this way.
Imagine when the players read or heard i.e. Issac /Gordon ...that they might be sold or there were talks between clubs regarding their futures they weren't impressed.. do what does that do to them mentally ? I know their professionals after all but does that change their relationship with the clubs hierarchy. Above Eddie I mean ....I wouldn't be happy like ....
Why should the top 6 get any greater advantages than the rest of any other teams within the Leagues. By giving the top 6 an advantage. it then becomes a cartel and a restriction of trade to any of the other clubs to aspire to become the best they can, this system should change and become more transparent. We're the clubs put up a bond to guarantee the clubs will never go into bankruptcy and can afford to buy better plays and compete for the top spots in the world of football. All of this is being manipulated by the Premier league bosses and they should be stripped of the right to interfere with the clubs rights to control there own decisions and destiny.
As a Brighton fan. I agree it needs changing but that doesnt mean PSR needs to go. If teams get to spend what they want then there will still be a gap (most probably a bigger gap), it will be between teams that have owners who are willing to risk millions of their own money and those that aint. We need some sort of PSR.
Always nice to hear from you I think we did the best we could and I know many would have like to seen longstaff or a couple other people out but honestly can’t see many team in the PM wanting him. Hopefully we will get a clean out to as we have a few that need selling on now either getting to old or we need a better class. What’s your hopes for Hearts MId this window any players you would like to see come in to your home club ?
Thanks for the explanation, Keith. As you say, the lesser of two evils, although I would have preferred it be players nearing the end of their time with the club (Miggy/Wilson etc) than those still coming through, we needed to do what we needed to in order to not get the points' deduction.
Thanks for that Keith, very clear explanation, but I have to say, I’m absolutely gutted, feel a bit sick in my stomach, losing Anderson. Was so looking forward to watching him become a star for us, because I think he would have.
My next question would be how dod NUFC get into this last minute mess. They've mentioned ffp / psr for last 2 years but have still ended up scrambling at the end.
For me, this is the biggest question mark of the whole saga -- why were we FORCED to sell two outstanding young talents? The only explanation i can accept as a fan is because the management team had lined up commercial deals that would have made up the deficit, but for one reason or another, those deals fell through. Because we were counting on those deals to keep us within the 105m threshold, without them, we fell into the red. What were those deals? (if any) Why did they fall through? I wish the investigative journalists of the North East would find that out for us. If that was not the reason for the deficit, then the alternative reason is that the management team just flat out miscalculated our finances, and that's very very poor for such a senior and seasoned team.
Kieth - why on earth did we have such a huge hole in our PSR calculation? Bearing in mind we sold ASM last season. Works out around 95m worth of player sales in one season! Absolute joke!!!!
I think those are 2 great deals. I would prefer to keep both as I think both have great potential. But we needed to sell and neither are first team starters. Minteh has not played for us yet. Next season no Europe so hopefully better in PL and Adidas and Stack. And Adidas is £30m a year basic. But We could sell tons of new shirts and other merch
Without it they don't scratch ours. Beggars can't be choosers. We needed a player sold ASAP and Forest knew that which means we were never going to get it all 100% our own way.
Thank god you’ve taken lettuce wrist Vlach off us! You paid about £5mill too much. He’s bloody rubbish but thinks he should be playing every game then moans when he doesn’t. Who ever signed him for Forest should have his head on spike outside the City Ground.
Can someone explain to me why forest needed help with their compliance with the rule? If it’s down to 4-5mil which is what we are paying their keeper, why not just offer Elliot for 4-5mil lesser? I’m missing something obviously.
PSR is a big reason for this situation. However, why have the Newcastle United hierachy allowed us to get in this position? They should have been in control of this and not letting it get to this desperate last minute situation.
I heard two sponsorship deals were blocked from going through in June, but they can apparently go through next month. It's almost like the PL are trying to force us to sell players.
Assuming PSR stays in place (and I can see a backlash against it in its current form from lots of clubs), are Newcastle going to have to go through this palaver on every June 30 now, assuming they keep buying players competitively? So this time next year we might have to sell Miley and Pope, and two years down the line Alex Murphy and Burn or Botman? Maybe Forest had the right model all along?
Certainly worth some perspective as surprising as this is, that it isn’t unique to PSR and FFP, sooner or later top clubs offload young prospects All the top teams have done it over the years Liverpool, Arsenal, Man City, Man Utd and Chelsea have all sold young fringe players or players they’ve given a bit of a run in the first team… it’s how we ended up with Willock, it’s how Bournemouth got Solanke, it’s how Chelsea got Palmer, how Forest got Elanga and it’s how Palace got Guehi etc… but for every player that becomes a star elsewhere there’s a few other duds that they’ve managed to shift for decent money, like Liverpool selling Ibe To be fair that when all players are back there’s not actually much of a pathway for Anderson into the squad and to get into the squad it’s going to mean him elevating his game above a lot of serious talent. Minteh is a wait and see one but knowing how the club is run, it wouldn’t surprise me if there’s a reasonable buy back and a sell on percentage should he not want to come back and if that’s the case the club have the best of both worlds, he flops and Brighton have overpaid, he succeeds and we get him back with Prem proven experience or he goes elsewhere and we continue to financially benefit from him
@keith and other North East journalists. For me, the biggest question mark of the whole saga -- why were we FORCED to sell two outstanding young talents? A good report and summary of events. Yes PSR is a nightmare and needs something better but if it avoids "money" creating a super league then something is needed. Could be worth considering a system based upon home game receipts, just an idea.
Right, how much did we spend 3 years ago? Because in theory, 1st July we can spend it all again! If it’s 60m on a mid and a RW then it proves it’s a joke with what we have just been forced to do? 7:21
68m for 2 players who's scored 0 goals for us and a combined 44 appearances for the club... oh and 1 of them ent even kicked a ball for us yet unbelievable business if I do say so my self.
I have three questions - why has it taken until the final week for NUFC to get to grips with this ? When are the owners or CEO going to make a statement about this ? Where has been the commentary from other NU journalists while this key situation has been playing out ?
Agree with you keith but .. Doesn't excuse the corruption and discrimination of the Premier league board. What is the outcome from the man city v prem ?????
How did Newcastle get them into this situation where they have had to sell players at the last minute to save having points deducted next season. Surely they should not have put themselves in such a situation.
Well done Keith, great video and explanation. I'd rather lose Minteh and Anderson than any of our "blue chip" players. Isak, Gordon and Bruno are, in my opinion, world class and basically irreplaceable at the moment. Anderson has potential but Lewis Miley is way better and Minteh was always going to be a gamble. Also, people are forgetting about Sandro Tonali. He did more for us on his debut than Anderson did all season.
Howe said in January he didn't want to sell any player even though PSR would bite us... He should have let Trippier, Miggy and Wilson then and we would be able to keep the young lads!!
That seems bad deal for Vlachodimos he was No1 at Benfica only two seasons ago. Surely he could of gone anywhere else to challenge for No1 spot… 1 bad season at Forest shouldn’t effectively end his career
