So let me get this straight, all I'm hearing is how great and quick this crazy 8 concept is but no ones explaining what exactly its solving - is this for when you are trying to work out the best screen layout for a specif page? for example, you want to have a home page so, therefore, will carry out 8 different variations? Or is one page equal to one user flow? Thanks very much the video has been one of the most helpful so far!

123456789ten thanks for watching! It’s best for “exploring variations” rather than exploring user flows. The Crazy 8s is great as a brainstorming tool because it forces you to explore the same visual challenge quickly, within 8 minutes. Yes - for example, exploring how a Homepage layout may look like... That’s a great subject to Crazy 8.

But like WHAT are you making. I don't get it... i cannot find anywhere an explanation of the material that's on the paper. Then people are to pick what they like? What am i even looking at lol. Please explain. Example, on the first one we see you do is for an ecommerce site and is its product page. That first minute idea, what is piece by piece the image block, lines and so on stand for? Otherwise this seems like you're vomiting lines and shapes with no coherency. If that's the case how are people to pick what they like without understanding what each element is to stand for?

In Crazy8s, do you draw 8 different layouts for one page of your app? or is it a continuation of each step like first you draw onboarding then the other rectangle is what happens after onboarding and the continue like this. Or do you just draw 8 different layout ideas for let's says the onboarding page for the app? I hope my question makes sense
@relabstudios
@relabstudios 4 года назад
It’s 8 different layouts of the same page/screen/interface. So you’re right, for example if we’re exploring layout ideas for an “onboarding page”, then you can use the Crazy8s to brainstorm various layouts of that particular screen only. However you can do multiple sets of Crazy8s for to explore other pages too. But 1 set for 1 page only. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!

Thanks for informative video but i have doubts regarding using this method- once we are done with ideation how do we decide which idea is best and what should be basis to deciding for same, and how do we take help of our team members to decide which one is best idea/better. and foremost thing can they understand as quickly as i drew it or do i need to explain them first each ideas and then ask the to vote or something.?

Hi Vijay, thanks for stopping by and watching our video. If we are still ideating individually, what I would usually do is to look back at the goal, challenges, persona and their experience/journey map, and decide which idea might be best suited for the user/persona while considering those aspects mentioned earlier. However, once we are on a team setting, we would usually appoint a decider (on an ideal design sprint case, it could be the product owner, project lead, etc.) to decide on which idea is to be used moving forward. Hope this help!

i was stuck and didn't know what to do about the layout but this technique really helped me. it's weird how much can be achieved by purposefully not thinking and random drawing. thank u man

Dis is totally unnecessary in design u can take all the time you need to think up designs for ur client u dont have to or want to do it in 8 crazy minutes people

Hi, thank you for the video! Some UX courses suggest to brainstorm after user research stage, some during and some even before. Is there a right time for this, or I guess you could do it at any point if you are feeling stuck or want to get inspired? And also for this particular example, it seems that you already have a request/decision/solution for what you are designing? What if you don't know what you are designing and exploring ideas, what should you do then? Sorry for so many questions, this is fascinating! Thanks again.

Hi Aizhan, thanks for watching! The right time to do the crazy8s is whenever you feel like you’re having a “block” and need some fresh perspectives... This technique is about leveraging your subconscious which we often times underestimate! That’s right in this example, we already had some steps done previously that lead us here. The crazy8s is part of the 4 Step Sketch method... The previous steps to this can be found in this video here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8Vxt5QyS-f0.html Be sure to check it out!

@@relabstudios Research - about the problem & target user - helps to reduce your uncertainties, so doing brainstorming for solution ideas should always be done after at least some research. ;)

Hello, thanks for upload this inspiration video! I wanna ask about it, if i have several problems, is crazy 8 can use to solve all of the problems in one sprint? Or for example i have 3 promblems, so what I have to do? Make one crazy 8 to solve all the problem or make one crazy 8 for one problem? Thanks!!
@relabstudios
@relabstudios 5 лет назад
neysa rekanidya thanks for watching! The Crazy 8s technique is great for specific problems. So if you have multiple things to solve or brainstorm, we suggest do multiple sets of Crazy 8s. In our Design Sprints, we tend to do multiple sets of Crazy 8s and each set is dedicated for one specific Feature, Layout or ”Big Idea”. Hope this helps!

Sir my request is please make a full comprehensive video on * colors for app ui design, like primary, secondary, complimentary etc, how to choose colors actually, * And how to provide the final exported mockup to developer? Just full screens in single JPEG image or slicing of each single element like icon, buttons, navigation buttons, * Navigation tabs/buttons should be on top or bottom? THANKS

Md Belal Hossain Santo you may not be wrong! The Crazy 8s usually doesn’t come in as a stand-alone exercise. In the Design Sprint process the Crazy 8s is part of a 4 Step Sketching which involves “Note Taking”, “Idea Writing”, “Crazy 8s” and “Solutions Sketching”. Do checkout our upcoming videos as we’ll talk more about these meaningful sketching/ideation methods. Thanks for watching!

No it is not random sketch it is for an idea so don't personalize it!
