Hi Adrian many thanks for stopping by and I'm glad you enjoyed this coho action! I totally agree - Cohos are pound-for-pound one of the best fighting fish out there! All the best and tight lines my friend! Captain Zac
Hi Captain Pete thanks for stopping by and I'm glad you enjoyed this coho action! I appreciate the kind words - good luck out there on the AWOL! Tight lines my friend! Captain Zac
Hi Dave thanks for watching and I'm glad you enjoyed this coho action! Haha yes indeed - the way I was fumbling the net with some of those kings earlier this year, it is a darn good thing that Mary was here to net these Silvers! All the best and tight lines my friend! Captain Zac
Hi Alonso thanks for stopping by and I'm glad you enjoyed this coho action! Haha I'll second that comment that Mary is awesome - she was a trooper on this very wavy day! That coho at the end was a real bonus - the very last second of the fishing session! Thanks again and tight lines my friend! Captain Zac
Hi Kim thanks for stopping by and I'm glad you enjoyed this coho action! Wow - CONGRATS on 9 halis in one week... perhaps that's why they call Homer the Halibut Capital of the World! I bet your freezer is filling up quickly! You can never have too much halibut haha Tight lines my friend! Captain Zac
I love it when they get close to the boat and then started to run again. It’s time to dust off the gear, the coho are here. “That’s my fish.” It’s at 90’. “I don’t want it.” I totally understand😂 I don’t think I’ve seen you introduce your fishing partner. Looked like a great way to wrap up a great day of fishing. I think I know where you guys are if that’s Lone Mt over your right shoulder at 11:04
Hey An Alaska Homestead thanks for stopping by and I'm glad you enjoyed this coho action! Yes indeed - it is pretty exhilarating when a coho gets near the boat and then goes on a drag-screaming run! Haha yea a feeder king caught at 90' and running to 200' sounded like more work than it was worth for my wife Mary, aka the halibut queen. She nearly always out-fishes everyone on the boat, including last weekend when she got a nice 60lb hali! Your sense of location is exactly right. Given the bad forecast I was initially going to venture over closer to your area, but we instead decided to punch our around the corner and fight that stiff southerly wind so that we could turn around and troll with it (which is much easier!). Good luck catching cohos once you dust off that gear! Tight lines my friend! Captain Zac
Hi Kent thanks for stopping by and I'm glad you enjoyed this coho action! Yes indeed it was pretty rough chop but fishing with a following sea made it feasible. Haha that last coho bit during the final second of the fishing session - if only that could happen every time! Tight lines my friend! Captain Zac
Hi Angling Spiders thanks for tuning in and I'm glad you enjoyed this coho action! Yes indeed - cohos are such a fun fish to fight, especially when they jump all over the top of water! Tight lines my friend! Captain Zac
Hi Capt Zac your videos are great I just got back home from my fishing trip to Petersburg . I did well on halibut even caught my first triple digit halibut thanks for the great videos keep ‘em coming can’t wait to head up there again . Keep the fish recipes coming too great stuff 👍
Hi Pascual congrats on a great trip! I'm glad you were able to connect with some nice halibut including a big one during your Petersburg trip! I'll definitely have more recipes coming, especially in the off-season when I'm not on the water all the time! haha Tight lines my friend! Captain Zac
Hi Steven thanks for watching and I'm glad you enjoyed this coho action! I appreciate the kind comment - it is always a good feeling to get the first coho of the season in the net! Tight lines my friend! Captain Zac
Hey Scoopeddad Drone thanks for stopping by and I'm glad you enjoyed this coho footage! Good luck out there tomorrow - these big tides and constant rain should bring more and more fish in each day! Tight lines! Captain Zac
Hi s g thanks for watching and I'm glad you enjoyed this silver salmon action! That's great you still have some fillets from last year - fire up the smoker!!! Tight lines my friend! Captain Zac
Haha hi Phil thanks for stopping by and I'm glad you enjoyed this coho salmon action! Yes indeed Mary deserves big props for net-work and boat maneuvering during these cohos and the kings a few weeks back! All the best and tight lines my friend! Captain Zac
Hey Aaron thanks for stopping by and I'm glad you enjoyed this coho action! Haha totally agree - cohos have a mind of their own! While halibut fishing last year, a jumper coho (not hooked) near the boat actually jump out of the water and hit the side of the boat! Tight lines my friend! Captain Zac
@@CaptainZac Yeah they are a strange breed. I had one hit right at my feet in the Klickitat, It came straight up & started dancing on the surface. I gave it every chance to run, but it just flopped on the surface, so I grabbed my net and landed it. The whole thing took about 30 seconds lol
Hi Coolif Adventures thanks for stopping by and I'm glad you enjoyed this coho footage! Typically about 25'. Sometimes shorter when trolling in areas where I expect to be making tons of turns, sometimes longer if I'm fishing in super shallow water (to get the rig further away from the boat engine) or just want to mix it up if I'm not getting bit with the 25' lead. Tight lines my friend! Captain Zac
Hi Pond Gators thanks for watching and I'm glad you enjoyed this coho action! I appreciate the sub - great to have you along for the adventures! Tight lines my friend! Captain Zac
hello my friend.i enjoy watching you while fishing.it is really interesting and exciting.i wish i want to try this hehe.be safe my friend.enjoy fishing, more fish to catch.new friend here.stay connected pls🤗❤️👍
Hi Mike thanks for watching and I'm glad you enjoyed this coho action! I agree this boat fishes in heavy following seas really well. In chop like this I intentionally fish with a following sea. In this case I ran against the chop (at probably 15 miles per hour and a trim tab just to keep is somewhat smoother - I wasn't in a hurry) and then turned around and trolled with the waves (which is much easier than trying to troll into the chop and constantly having the bow of the boat get thrown to the side). Does this make sense? Tight lines my friend! Captain Zac
@@CaptainZac thanks. I am interested in a very similar boat at some point. Have you been in anything yet that had you worried or the boat struggled to handle?
Hey SYSTEM OUT thanks for stopping by and I'm glad you enjoyed this coho salmon action! While I've caught them in anywhere from 10ft to 120ft already this season, typically 40-70 feet is a good starting point (at least around here). Don't be afraid to try different depths. Good luck with your new downrigger and tight lines my friend! Captain Zac
Hey astig thanks for watching and I'm glad you enjoyed this coho action! Yes indeed - I heard reports of a few spotty fish being caught already so I had to drop some gear and try it for myself! The coho fishing will get better and better in the coming weeks. Tight lines my friend! Captain Zac
