It's cold in Troyes (France), CC72176 doesn't want to start... Sorry Greta ;-)
If you remove industries, there will be more fields. Then more cows farting, and if you remove fields and cows, more forests, then more bears and boars farting and then more methan in the air.The solution would be that, once again, women do save the planet: I am sure that distinguished ladies as the queen of England, the countess of Paris, and others of that kind, would be happy to spend a bit of their time to give lessons of good behaviour in society to those filthy animals. Do I authorize myself to fart in public?
+Cyberat Rodent : Fully agreed for what concerns money, neo- liberalism is a pest due to the fall of communism.which was a very painful totalitarian materialist tyranny but had the advantage of restraining in the world the jurassic voracity of the capitalism, which has nowadays no more opponent .Add the surpopulation due to the overwhelming natality of the thirld world, where the only way to feel secure is to have the most numerous family possible (before the progress brought there by the colonial era, most children early died), and now,all the world wants to taste the fruits of the consumer society, for which we would need the ressources of several planets. I believe that it is time to stop the reign without limits of the banks and hedge funds, and also to come back to more reasonnable ways of life. Not ecolo-austerity, but just normal way of consuming and producing goods. Do we really need to change our suits every week or month, and to buy a new car (or bike) every year?
That is the most impressive diesel knock I have ever heard. You can count the cylinders as they bang out the unburnt fuel! And they say coal trains are a thing of the past!
and here we see the early morning waking up ritual of the locomotive. it starts by releasing a gaseous cloud of pheromones to attract a group of coaches, followed by several roars, thumps and rumbles to show its dominance over the rail yard. should no rivals come to challenge it, it will soon move to start the day
From what I know, the reason diesels smoke so much in this sort of cold start is just because the fuel - especially in an older turbocharger - doesn't vaporise properly in the cylinders, and so burns incompletely, generating LOTS of soot and smoke. Since the prime mover isn't turning very fast, what vapor there is can collect in the exhaust, producing those spectacular, volcanic backfires. Once the fuel warms up and the engine starts turning faster, the smoke goes away.
Diesel doesn't vaporize. The faster the Engine turns, the higher the Pressure in the Cylinders, at least at very low RPM. This is because as the Piston comes up and Compresses the Air, the Air heats up and expands. So an Engine with a Compression Ratio of about 25:1 can achieve up from 80 to 200 bar on the Compression Stroke when running and just below 1000°C on the Compression Stroke. However, on a slow cranking cold Start it is very difficult to get the Temperature in the Combustion Chamber high enough for useful combustion.
I think this is one of the best locomotive cold starts i have yet seen ,, lots of clatter and loads of smoke and even 3 good backfires for good measure
+wildcoyote34 then i think you'll be happy to see that, it's a Pielstick too, though it's just a V12. We call it "Rattler" for some reason :-) watch?v=m3ifWJfmZUo If you like to see more smoke rings, check this out: watch?v=2oxN1zXz80k
i don t know how to explain what i mean in English, but in all diesel locomotives there are tubes where engeneers put hot water and It heats up the engine.
To all those saying sarcastically "cette locomotive respecte votre environment" This train can transport 100 tons 1,000 miles on just 50 gallons of fuel. It would take six trucks 165 gallons of fuel to take the same amount the same distance. YES, trains are better for the environment.
Only at the east of Paris. To the north, great west and great south, except on some small lines (with modern engines) , it’s electric powered. This sort of 40 y/o locomotive is going to the scrap yard now.
See that boom and blast? My diesel-powered garage heater did that once. Rearranged parts of my workshop equipment, and made my ears buzz, that's for sure...
@@highvoltageswitcher6256 Like diesel fuel that is used on some cars, lorries and tractors. A little but less harsh than heating oil but basically the same odor.
Those train engines are pretty old but SNCF pushed them aside quickly by not really maintaining them to shape and changing their engines to a crappy quality so called more modern eco friendly engine. It is likely that the older engine would have performed better at start...
France is not so backward. Great. Transportation. Better than any. American. Great service. Fast. And luxery. Lots train connections. Smooth rides. Most are electric. Fast
