CRAZY CREATIVE JUNK JOURNAL CHALLENGE! Part 1: Construction of the Journal! The Paper Outpost!Turn junk food bags and wrappers, containers, napkins, straw wrapper, your receipt to anything related to your junk food lunch and create a journal out of literally nothing but true garbage! The idea here is to let your imagination fly free since this is only pure garbage to begin with..who cares if you make a mistake or goof something up...be brave push your envelope here or hamburger and fly free and create with reckless abandon! I can't wait to see what you make! Imagination and inspiration are the fuel to carry you along your way! Feel free to post your creations on youtube (put @thepaperoutpost in the title so I can find it) or (#thepaperoutpost on Instagram) or put it in our Facebook group! Or simply share your thoughts and experiences in the comments here below the video! If you don't eat junk food, that's awesome! Use whatever you can find around you :) Be creative! This is actually the perfect journal for us perfectionists to make as our first journal! It breaks that tendency to be too careful or fearful. Reckless abandon can happen! I am making one right now to hush up that critical inner wench who tries to rule my life lol! 🤍👀🤍

Hi Pam , You won’t believe me but iv gone back as far as it would let me, To catch up on your videos , absolutely binged watched you for a week. Me Either!! I've Had to get REALLY creative... such as... Lg. Multi Colored Eye shadow pallets from $ store. Use the applicator to rub on the edges, eye liner pencils for edging... then use a Makeup sponge to blend it & rub it in.. Really good. A quick little spritz of Hair Spray over the areas where applied might not hurt to help set it. I have bottles of house paint. eve

I used a French bread wrapper to make pages in my journal. It has a window in it (to see the product) and makes a lovely pocket.

I love that you are courageous enough to go back to the basics of junk journaling…. I mean there is so much beautiful expensive paper & design paper out there and being used that you sometimes no longer can speak of junk journals. Don’t get me wrong I like all those beautiful journals …. No judgement there… I try to work with only real junk papers….. its challenging but fun .

Oh...LOVE this, Pam. I made a birthday card for our youngest last month & used a Mcdonalds' fry container...decorated it...not only did she recognize what it was...she LOVED it! And yes, I cleaned the "pouch" up before using it. lol

Hi Pam 🙋‍♀️ I love the fact that you will make junk journals and things out of anything. Shows one does not have to pay a lot of money to be creative. I have been collecting things for quite sometime now for the journals and ephemera that l intend to make. I have a basket in my kitchen for all the "junk" that can be used for true junk journals. I collect envelopes, junk mail flyers, wrappers, can labels, tags, torn out words from thin food boxes, produce stickers, and anything else that I know is unique and can be saved from the trash. These things make the most eclectic, funky, and colorful journals ever. Just like the McJournal!!

Hi Pam!❤ The kid menus at restraunts are great because they are long enough to make a pocket on one side. 😊 ...and it's from a food place. My daughter loves to color and I've accumulated a small tote of all her "school" papers from prek to 1st grade. Some dated others are just doodles and I thought, hmm great signatures I can keep those memories contained in a book now 😀 I

Yes, yes and yes. The huge amount of packaging that is a bonus to products that we buy is literally an endless supply of raw materials. I use zip lock bags for storage. The down side is the limited amount of space I have.

I just made my first cloth covered junk journal yesterday... somewhat loosely from an earlier tutorial of yours ( used the loss leader from the mail) I am however, ahead of you on the restaurant ware! LOL. I used a brown napkin (clean of course) to cover a page! And then while the pva was drying I smudged discarded makeup that my Grandaughter was not interested in using! Reckless Abandon IN PROGRESS! 🙌🏼❤️😂

Oh, Pam... do you know how many times I've looked at fast food bags & packaging and thought: what could I do with that? And then, came up with a list... but the grease stains made me toss it all! I get stuck in the "if you make something, it needs to be made so that future generations can also enjoy it." In other words, "If it's not worth doing so well it can last at least 50 years, it's not worth doing at all." Im not sure why I have this mindset =/. It's something I need to work on, and this little journal is SO CUTE. I can totally see something on the front cover alluding to McDonald's current catch phrase... "I'm loving it!" =D The flowers are CUTE! Wonky flower is adorbs & scrunched flower looked a lot like a rose! So, does the rose by another name smell as yummy as the food from whence it came? Hehehe. Can't wait for part 2. Good news, hubs brought me 3 books tonight from a stash I've had for a few years. When I first got into junk journals, art journals, etc, I went on the hunt for books - easier to use a premade cover, right? Well, we stopped at the library, cus they almost always have discards that they weren't able to sell in whatever time period they set, and just set the cart out for people to grab whatever for free! Well, I was sad, cus there was nothing that day, but like 4 little books, so I grabbed three (one was covered in mildew). I was talking with hubs about how sad it was, not really paying attention around me. Suddey, this older gentleman pops in front of me, asking if I wanted free books! His trunk was STUFFED! I still haven't sorted through my haul, and they have that musty scent old stored books get. I do remember a wide variety of things, and, when I asked hubs to grab me a fewbooks from the stash... he very happily surprised me! I got 3 ... i dunno how to describe it. Its's like booklets set into a tray/drawer-like thing that is the actual cover. I peeked at one pamplet, 1968. It's from the American Geographical Society, a series called "Around the World Program" by Nelson Doubleday Inc. Each "drawer" has 4-6 soft-cover booklets in it, each covering a region. The one I'm holding has the spine/"back of drawer enclosure" intact, and covers Arabian Peninnsula, United Arab Republic, New Zealand, and Lesser Antilles. Each booklet has lots of awesome pics! One of the three hard-covers/drawer things, the spine thing fell off, so I may turn that into an actual journal. One, the spine thing is well-worn & looks to be ready to fall apart, so am on the fence on what to do with it. The intact one, though, will become a cool storage thing =D (hey, why not use it like a drawer? Lol). I know there's a bunch more of these, too! I'm so excited at this! And now, when hubs decides to grab mcdonald's for breakfast (i think he gets tired of the usual cereal or oatmeal or grits lol), I'm gonna save the outer bag. Ack. Looks like it may be a few before I can really dig into these booklets... caden-kitty has decided its snuggle time. (She JUST started being snuggly with me, so... i don't want to discourage progress lol). Anyway, I was so excited, had to share! Much love!
