A brother and I knocked on a door back in the 80's. A guy came to the door wearing jeans and no shirt. He had a burned out joint in his mouth. Jim started his presentation. The guy said, "Look, all I want to do is smoke a joint with my wife, get a piece of ass, and go to work." Jim said, "Well, you have a nice day!" I said to myself, I think he will!

When I was a young girl, one gentleman told me he remembered all his past lives and proceeded to whip his shirt off on the doorstep and show me the "bullet wound" from where he was shot and killed in world war one. What was I supposed to say to that? Oh and one time someone dropped a bucket of water on my head from a first floor window. Good times.
38yrs out this year (& almost mentally free) Man came naked to his frosted glass front door. A young single sister I was with said "come on!" and we left like the road runner (beep..beep!)....so much easier than fading, wish
I remember we had a very "Zealous" aka Orthodox JW in our congregation who was an older lady and was out in service regularly. She had a habit of making her return visits the same day if anyone showed any interest (which was basically if they didn't shut her down immediately and close the door) so one afternoon she returned to a house she had called on that very morning. The Lady I guess had enough and answered from the second-floor window and proceeded to douse her with water. The story was told of course and I remember a lot of people privately saying they were on the householder's side!!
I can recall 2 instances one door i went to with another Brother an old lady came to the window and waved a shotgun at us screaming at us to get out of there. Another instance i was working along and 2 girls invited me in, of course i took their invite and they turned out to be witches in the middle of some pagan ceremony.
While in the street work as a newer, young Witness I approached a man, held up the Evolution book and said (as taught) ‘Many people wonder, did man get here by evolution or creation’. The man stopped walking, looked at me and said ‘ I really don’t give a damn’. While this wasn’t a funny experience, it was instructive. I never forgot the lesson. If you don’t care, then it’s really not a thing.
I always talk with JW callers. The last psi6, I was telling the elderly gentleman how I inadvertently broke the faith of my school teacher, a Catholic Nun. Towards the end of the conversation, I urged him not to shun a loved one. He was shocked and confessed that he was going through this right now with his daughter.
Oh my goodness…my congregation used to send me to all the ‘weird’ doors!!! I’m a delightfully unflappable person. It’s served me well as a bartender, but it was GOLD as a JW pioneer. My stories 🤦🏼♀️😂😂😂
I saw guns, penises, ouija boards…had tarot cards THROWN at me. OH!!! And more than a few indecent proposals that HONESTLY sounded better than what I was doing 😂 I’m currently DF’d in this same community…and the reactions are, honestly, priceless 😂
I was working with the CO and apparently he'd heard from the elders that I tended to like "questionable " music. So he was going to resolve the issue by lecturing to me between doors. It was a densely populated area, so there was very little time between doors and I was already nervous as it was. I just wanted some quiet time between doors to get my thoughts together, but that's not what I got. He mentioned the J. Geils Band song Love Stinks. He said the song lyrics "I've had the blues, the reds and the pinks" was a drug reference, different colors of pills don't you know. He also said that since God is love, it's not good to say that love stinks. Not much of a sense of humor with that CO.
Ah man, maybe they should have been focussed on the many real problems on the circuit. I remember being at a "gathering" once where we did karaoke. And one particularly orthodox brother would make folks skip every other song because it was "questionable" in some way or other... Makes you realize that folks like that just weren't right in the head.

My Mom was having a discussion with the lady and the two farm dogs wandered over. They were sniffing around Mom’s shoes, as dogs do. As my Mom described it, “I suddenly felt something warm running down my leg …”. Yup, the dog had lifted his leg and left his mark. 🤣😂
I don't know which one to tell first. Standard neighborhood door to door on a Saturday with my youngest daughter A homeowner opened the storm door to speak to me, but my daughter saw the small dog behind them My daughter took it upon herself to quickly crawl under the home owners legs to get into the house so that she could hug the dog. So I'm standing outside, my young daughter is in a strangers house and the home owner probably thinks this was all staged. After trying to call my daughter back, they eventually let me in the house so that I could carry her out kicking and screaming because I took her away from the dog. I'll save the story that happened 30 minutes later with her for another time.
One time an older sister and I rang the bell and a young man came running down the stairs soaking wet holding a towel around himself with one hand. He opened the door then his very large dog ran out the door and he grabbed the dog with the other hand. The older sister just went ahead with her presentation and tried to hand him a magazine. He just looked at her like she was crazy and told her to leave the magazine on the seat on the porch because he had no free hands! I apologized to him and he said he never would’ve answered the door if he knew it was us, he was waiting for his girlfriend 😂
This is not a whacky story per se, but I recall going on a Bible study several times with a pioneer with a lady who really enjoyed the visits and the Bible study with the going publication (because you know how those publications change often) at that time which the lady enjoyed. However, after an extended time with the pioneer studying with this lady, she had never really expressed an interest in visiting the kingdom hall. And as you well, know, if an extended time goes by and the study hasn't began attending the meetings or "progressing" according to WT standards, witnesses are told to discontinue the study. Long story short, the pioneer asked a few questions of the Bible study and determined that she should discontinue the study. Well, the lady said that she enjoyed the witnesses visits because it gave her someone to talk to. She wasn't married (perhaps widowed or divorced but did have a high school age daughter) and the witness visits were very welcomed because she had regular company during those once a week studys. She always was very hospitable, offered us tea and a snack each time and we had a lot of conversation outside of the study. The pioneer sister dropped the study. It's so very clear that the witnesses are only interested(as they have been instructed) if the study will begin to come to the hall meetings and eventually get baptized into the borganization. This lady only wanted company and Bible conversation with nice people. What a shame how the WT operates. The witnesses have no interest in just visiting people and having meaningful conversations with them. The lady genuinely just wanted company and someone to visit, listen to her, and talk to. Where's the real love? I am so happy that I am free from that organization.
The whacky thing for me is that i allowed myself to be fooled by this cult ! i MUST have been active in the door to door servitude , , as i progressed from newbie to M.S. to actually being appointed as Elder (29 yrs of age) in just 7 yrs. , however , from all those doors knocked on, not one bible study was attained , could it have been that the message being presented was flawed? , , well we know the answer to that now , , i'm happy that i wasn't raised from birth in this fraud , , i never had that fear factor of not measuring up and leaving was easy , , Whacky moments? Ha Ha Glad to be gone and always happy to hear the stories of others that have escaped ! ! ! Thanks for allowing us to share : )
I was a wee child, maybe 4 or 5 years old, came to a return visit Bible study in a very poor neighborhood. I heard blood curdling screaming in the hallway & a woman barges in completely naked. I believe she was escaping an abusive partner. Anyway, it was a very alarming experience as a young child. I had hardly seen anyone naked, so I was shocked by that & I was also shocked by the screaming. The JW's there threw a blanket over her & I don't remember much else, other than being traumatized. I liked hearing your stories about odd experiences!
I loved witnessing door to door with my beautiful wife Nicole. The 1st time I ever knocked on a door was in May of 1996 aged 35 I was with a 70 year old pioneer sister and I butted in and stole her door. The pioneer sister sneered at me and said, next time you steal my door and butt in ,I,'ll kick you in the shins. The house holder was a pretty young women and I was a single brother , that's the type of Bible study I want. The last time I ever went witnessing was in July 2018 aged 57 and I was pimo. It was a 100km per hour winding roller coaster road and in a mini minor car driven by a 80 year old brother and I was petrified of been rear ended by some giant truck lots of locked gates and do not calls. Reversing out on to a 100 km per hour steep, windy road with lots of blind corners . My greatest fear ,what if the house holder comes home and where in front of his locked gate and his a do not call. When your going 100 kms per hour in a mini with a 80 year old driver with a big semi trailer behind you ,you can't afford to look out for do not calls and nobody was home that day. So Pat and Katie that was my 1st and very last time in the door to door recruitment drive 1996 to 2018 now I can rest in peace. Justin porter ex jw
In the early 80’s my wife and her friend was out in the ministry, and they knocked on this door. They heard screams coming from inside, so they thought they would just leave. Then the door opens. My wife said “hello I’m a Jehovahs Witness” and this man with crazy eyes grabs her arm and says “I’m a warlock”pulled her close to him breathing in her ear. Her friend just runs off leaving her with him. My wife says “thats nice 🤣”. He let go and she walked off leaving him. He turned away and went inside. Guess what? Turns out it was Freddie West because this was 25 Cromwell street in Gloucester!!! Elders heard about it made it a brother only call. 10 years later he was arrested and my wife saw it on the news and she recognised him as the man with the crazy eyes!! Lucky escape - she was 15.
Haha yeah. He tried to grind up against the brother I was with at one point (I wonder what he was seeing...hermmm...). I tried to keep him off, but once his clothes came off, I wasn't touching anything. I was outta there!

It was funny to hear the Mrs say " I floored it." I don't blame her. I think back at how naive we were, especially we females, going door to door. It could have been deadly. Thank God we survived and hopefully most of us are safe and sound.
Yes, it can be scary out their in field service. When my kids would go out with the group while I was working or something, deep down inside, I always had an uneasy feeling about them knocking on peoples doors without me there with them. Just an eerie feeling, and I was so happy when the time was over. Something just always didn't sit right with me.
@@outtadarkness1970 very true. I think back to when they were little and you had that sense of security of them being around people who would never hurt them. After I learned of the Australian Royal Commission and the ongoing pedophilia for years and the shielding of elders who molested children with no reporting to the proper police authorities, I thought back o those assembly and convention times and realized that my kids could have been among some who preyed on young children. They were not as safe as I thought.
It's madness! My mum discovered not only was there a pedophile in our congregation when we first converted (I was around 10yo)...but he sat next to me at almost every meeting and she had no idea because the elders did not tell people.

oh goodness! I was tapping doors with one brother who was such an annoying young prick of an elder, he was so inexperienced at life, but was all for giving everyone loads of sage advice he wasn't qualified to give, you know the type! A young woman answered the door and was so polite & listened to him, though she said she's a wiccan and that for her, although religious books are interesting, so doesn't consider the bible's claims about itself being the authority, to be valid. The brother simply didn't comprehend that someone could feel that way, and kept referring back to how the bible says this and that about itself. I had to stop him as it was so embarrassing. The woman even said she'll take the magazine and read it so long as she can explain something about her religion to us. The elder would not have that, so i piped up and agreed, so she explained what a book of shadows is. I was completely engrossed and then went home and did a load of research about wicca! That elder later refused to allow me to auxiliary pioneer because he said i wasnt ready, though i'd done it on and off for a number years prior!
I’m beginning to think that we wasted our time in field service?🤔 To tell you the truth, this was my favourite parts of being a JW. Well, that and a great cup of coffee at break time.👍
So true! Haha! I can see a case for enjoying the social aspect of it and of course COFFEE! I guess not being the social type, we didn't enjoy speaking to strangers a great deal.

We would go out for 2-3 hrs at a time during the week only to talk to two people because everyone was at work. Then go back on the weekends people don’t want to be bothered because they worked all week, They have laundry to do, a house they have to clean, grocery shopping that needs to get done, kids they have to chauffeur around and trying to fit in some social time for themselves. Getting doors slammed in our faces and that was getting old real fast. then getting told by one of the sisters or brothers don’t take it personally because they weren’t slamming the door on me they were slamming it on Jehovah.
I was out witnessing once And the offer for the month was the Bible story book I went through the presentation After this the woman said “ I had a dream about you last I dreamed that you came to me with that yellow book” I replied “ I also dreamt that you were going to take it and study the Bible” 😂
My friend who was a former JW told me that her brother came to a house that he swore up and down that the family tried to give a kitten! Basically the cat had kittens were weaned and the homeowner said the first person who comes knocking gets a kitten. Her brother was really sad because here was 12 years old with some adult from his congregation to not give them the kitten!

My story is a man named genos a householder who showed me the watchtower was full of crap and a false prophet and made false predictions. I stayed pimo for many years it was hell testing all there crap every meeting after meeting for years.

I was in a car group where we drove up to a property in the countryside of Australia. There was just a really old caravan that looked like it had been there for years. So, I walked up and knocked on the door a few times and eventually a really haggard, middle-aged guy came out. I could see inside and there was a chicken standing on his bed and as the door opened, it jumped off and walked past me outside haha. Then as soon as he saw us, he said "not intreted!" (That's right - he didn't say interested properly, just intreted haha) It was all really random

Hey Lou. We definitely didn't delete them. It sounds like a few people have been having this issue. We get a few comments being held for review every now and then because they have links and RU-vid thinks they are spam. So maybe they delete comment with certain link or words in them? The only time we delete comments is if a troll starts slinging insults. As you can see, we even leave the trolls to do their thing for the most part.

I feel compelled to comment as I was an elder and pioneer for many years also. But 24 years ago I faced the difficult and very painful realization that the organization of JWs was not "God's organization on earth" nor were they the "faithful and discreet slave." I knew I had to leave it to be faithful and loyal to God and Jesus. So I went through a lot of what you both (and many others) have had to go through. The conclusion I have happily arrived at is pretty simple. I believe there is a brilliant, powerful creator for many reasons, including solid scientific reasons, just as I concluded when I first became a Witness. I believe that the Bible is true, just as I also concluded many decades ago now. I believe that Jesus is the son of God, just as he claimed, and all that he taught is the truth, is fabulously loving and beautiful. So it is extremely important, beneficial and satisfying to build and maintain a relationship with both God and Christ. As promised by Jesus, we are aided guided in that by holy spirit. I believe that the parable of the good and bad seed in Mt. 13 is playing out just as Jesus explained it. Good and bad seeds, true and imitation Christians, will grow together until the "end of the age." You and I cannot know the difference and, if fact, should not even try to judge. If you would like to talk about any of this, I would love to do that. Maybe I can save you 20 years or so and a lot more pain. My love to you and all of our brothers and sisters wherever they may be in the world or their walk.
