Larry really did say I'm looking at which one of you is going to finish second. Two of the players there have confirmed it.

Every word about Larry Bird is true. The man was amazing, a freak of nature. One of the best players of all time.

I don't think there is any other pro athlete who deserves the "Legend" moniker attached to their name, except for Larry Bird. Dude was a totally different cat.

Here are just a few things about Bird The year before he played in his first season the Celtics were 23-59. With just about the only change in the lineup was the addition of Bird, in Bird's first season the Celtics were 61-21. Bird won Rookie of the Year and came in 4th in MVP voting Over the next 8 season this is how Bird finished in the MVP voting - 2,2,2,1,1,1,3,2 - He won it 3 times in a row - the only other players to do that in NBA history are Bill Russell and Wilt Chamberlain. Bird founded the 50-40-90 club(at least 50% fg, 40% 3-pt gt and 90% free throws) and is 1 of 2 players in NBA history to accomplish it in back to back years, the other being Steve Nash. Bird would tell the other team what the play was and where he would be shooting from in big games, even before the play started. And to put a bow on this, Bird accomplished all this while playing hurt his entire career in the NBA.

None of these stories come from Bird. All of them come from the other players. Yeah Larry is a serious contender for the GOAT, for real. For perspective, Jordan was 0-6 against Larry's Celtics in the post season, and 11-17 in the regular season. Those guys he was about to brawl with are Kareem and Dr. J. James Worthy said he'd rather guard Jordan the Larry. Everyone would say that he'd be calling his shots and calling the play before it happened, and he'd live up to it. Worthy said Larry was cocky as heck but not arrogant because you're not arrogant if you can back it up. One of my all time favorite stories is told by John Stockton. He said before one particular game Larry walked over to the Utah Jazz bench (including Stockton and Karl Malone), looked at them and said, "I feel like...43." Then by the end of the 3rd quarter he had 43 points, and sat down on the bench. Then Magic tells the story of when he was out injured and had to watch the Lakers/Celtics game from the bench. Larry walked over to him and says, "Man I'm sorry you're not playing. But since you're here I'm gonna put on a show for you." He'd smugly look over at Magic when he'd score, and ended up with 42 points and a triple double. You don't say crap like that against GOATs, especially your arch-rival! Unless you're ready to be humiliated. Or unless you can back it up. Larry Legend was on his own level of trash talking!

No the players were fined by the coach for cheering on Bird. Also, Bird scored 27 left handed not 22. The video was wrong. All of these stories are true. Including the one when he asked about who was going to come in second in the 3 point contest. Bird is the GOAT. Remember Bird was MVP 3 years in a row when Jordan, Johnson and other greats were playing. He was one of the best passers in the league. You need to watch more Bird videos if you want to know about how good he was. Listen to the other great players he played against.
