What a dreamy video! The music was awesome and the camera-work, well that was amazing too but I've come to expect that. I can't even imagine how the sculptor achieved such a realistic-looking face on such a large scale. Amazing. A spectacular location to visit for sure.
Thanks so much for watching! This one was fun to film and edit! It's our most popular video yet at almost 53,000 views! Wild! Thank you for all the kind words! Sculpting this would be such an undertaking! We still want to make a video of Mount Rushmore, which isn't far from here and is equally amazing. Hopefully, we can do that soon. Have a great day, Daryl! 😊
Thanks so much for bringing this wonderland back to me as I visited that region many years ago!! I went to Rapid City, Mt. Rushmore, Harney Peak, and on from there through Wyoming to Yellowstone. I look forward to more from you 🙂
It's so awesome that you have visited those places! We have as well and love them all. ❤ Thanks so much for watching and for your lovely comment! We're so glad you enjoyed the video! 😊
Fantastic video coverage. Music perfect. A few years back they had some interviews with K. Ziolkowski.. In addition to his vision for Crazy Horse he was an incredibly fascinating Renaissance Man and a terrific speaker and communicator. July 26, 2024.
Hey, are you the same Warren we spoke to at the Fall Volksmarch a few weeks ago?! If so, you were so much fun to talk to, and thank you for being in our new video! It's out now if you want to go watch it. Thanks again for the lovely comment! 😊 If you're not the same Warren, carry on! 😂
Thank you! We thought the music was so nice. That's kind of what we were going for was making it like a film for people to watch. The head of Crazy Horse is so massive. Very cool to see in person! So glad you enjoyed it! Have a great week! 🥰
This was so fun to watch! We actually accidentally hiked the VolksMarch back in 2021, and it was really amazing to see how much farther they’ve gotten on the Crazy Horse Memorial! It was such an epic experience. We actually made a video about it that you all might enjoy watching to compare how different it was. We also didn’t have the option of the 5K. That’s nice they added that. Thanks for sharing! ❤
Thanks for watching! Yeah, they've come a long way. This is my (Rachel) 4th Volksmarch, and last time we went, they didn't have the hand done at all, just the face. We're on a big vacation right now, but we'll watch your video when we get home! Thanks again! I'm glad you enjoyed the video! ❤
@@TheWanderingWulfs That’s awesome! I would definitely like to do it again when we are better prepared. It looks like you had much better weather as well. It was super hot the day we went and we ended up hiking in the peak heat of the day. My daughter almost didn’t make it! 🤪 Enjoy the rest of your adventures! ☺️
Went a couple of years ago in May. One of my most favorite museums EVER to visit, fabulous collection and display of the beautiful American Indian tribes. Don't miss this one❤
Nice place to do a 10K event. The forest is beautiful. Plus a nice highlight to see Crazy Horse. Awesome views from up there too. Looked like a nice day to get out. Well done. Have a great day.
This was absolutely breathtaking as all your videos are so beautiful so peaceful so calm I enjoyed myself and I hope you both have such a wonderful day and a fantastic weekend. It was just gorgeous.
Thank you so very much! Your comments mean the world to us. We're always so happy that you enjoy our videos. Have a blessed week and a wonderful 4th of July! 🥰
The views from the top are simply spectacular! I love how you captured the beauty of the Black Hills and the significance of the Crazy Horse monument.🫶🏾💚💚Thank you for sharing
This is a wonderful event! Beautiful area and so inspiring to visit the Crazy Horse sculpture! We were there many years ago- I[m sure they've made a lot of progress on it since then. It's such a huge and amazing project!! I would love to hike there and get up close with the sculpture. Thanks for taking us along too! 👍👍🌻🌻🌻
That's so awesome you have been here! It's very fun to see Crazy Horse up close. You would love it! So far, his face has been done since 1998 and then just a few years ago they finished his hand. They are not government funded, so it's taking a while to finish. We honestly don't think it will be completed in our lifetime, as there is a lot left to do. We're so happy you enjoyed this video! Thanks again and have a great 4th of July! 🥰
Cool! We've had some Volksmarch events around our area over the years as well. Now this is certainly an epic adventure! Have not ever seen it so up close and personal before!! Just such a marvelous experience!! Quite something and moments to remember...don't think it will be finished in my lifetime, but something that generations to come will definitely find amazing!
That's awesome, Bruce! They are very fun events! This really was an EPIC adventure and yes, we doubt it will be finished in our lifetimes. Thanks so much for watching! We're so happy you enjoyed it! Have a great week!
This was a fantastic hike. So relaxing to sit back and just watch the stunning scenery but then I wasn’t expecting that sculpture! It was quite something. Not ever heard or seen it before. Well done this was a fab edit 😊 👏
Thank you so much, Yasmin! We're SO glad you loved it. It's quite a sculpture and the surrounding scenery is so beautiful! Thanks again for all your kind words. Have a great week! 🥰
The scenery in this was amazing. Your hike looked very nice and how awesome to end up at that statue with those views. It looks like you had incredible weather on this day!
Thanks for the breath taking views, absolutely stunning. I love that someone put there tennis shoes on the garbage can on the steps going up. Looked like a gravely place to go barefoot 😂. Safe sojourner John and Rachel.
You're very welcome! Yeah, we noticed those tennis shoes, too. So funny! 😆 We're so glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching! Safe travels to you, too! Take care!
Mr. and Mrs. Wandering Wulfs Congratulations to both of YOU for completing this journey! A little over 6 mile in one way? or roundtrip? How long did you take to complete? So many participants ...encouraging.. This hiking trail offers such beauty of nature. Was it steep? Crazy Horse is rewarding at last. so much details and characters in it carving. History speaks for weathered and eroded Crazy Horse. It gives me chills. There is Stone Mountain in GA. That is my first hike to one huge granite rock mountain. hahha It was challenging to clime in summer last year..hot hot hot. hahhaah Hiking in SD is on my bucket list. I am very excited to watch your video. BTW, I am not familiar with the history but what is this? 12:17 Well done to both of you. I also enjoy your selection of music. Bravo! I hope you enjoy my adventures.
Thanks so much for watching! It took us about 3 hours to complete the hike and it's 6.2 miles round-trip. It's steep in a few spots, but mostly a gradual climb. The building at 12:29 is the Crazy Horse Visitor Center. We really loved the music we chose, too. Stone Mountain in GA sounds fun, too! Thanks again so much for watching and for all your kind comments! We truly appreciate it! Have a great weekend! 🥰
Thank you! Yes, it's really quite amazing up close and it's so nice they let us go up there a few times a year to see it up close. Thank for watching! Have a great week! 🥰
This is one place I want to see...beautiful forests. I come from an area where forests mean bush bashing, bears and underbrush. I just finished watching another trail video about the "Hollywood Bowl", old Hell's Gate tunnel, that led to this one...different kind of art work there, still impressive. A bit of information, a few subtitles, would be nice... how long it took, who he was...
Hope you are able to make it here someday! RU-vid will actually add subtitles to videos if you like. Also, we included the link to the Crazy Horse Memorial at the end of this video, as well as in the description of our video, if you'd like more information about him. The hike took us about 4 hours, but that's with stopping and filming. The length of the hike will be different for everyone. 😉 Thanks for watching! ❤
@@TheWanderingWulfs I guess I didn't watch it rig ht to the very end. I love the area, you get a sense of peace and power just from watching the video. No words is good too, easy enough to research any topic. Thanks for getting back
@@johnnySMALLpepper Thanks so much! There is another Crazy Horse Volksmarch this fall on September 28th. They only have it twice a year, once in June and once in September. It's a must-see event. 💗
We have only seen the Crazy Horse memorial from a distance. Close up it really is amazing. The trail looked quite lovely through the forest and with the wild flowers. Great also to see so many people participating in the walk. Hopefully events like this introduce many newcomers to the joys of wandering in wilder areas. The thumb and finger pointing promise great things to come. Hope I get chance to see it once more. Hopefully taking a closer look. Best wishes from the UK.
@@IvorsTravels Hello! Thank you for your wonderful comments! We agree and hope you can come and get a closer look at Crazy Horse someday. We're glad so many people come out and do this walk. It's an awesome time! Thank you for watching! 🥰
It's good to see that works continue. Was there when they were just starting the monument. Very impressive. Why are they calling this volksmarch? Is there a "native word" that could be used instead of the German popular word?
@@evoxpop2088It's a pretty awesome monument. In our video, there are signs along the way that say AVA, which stands for the American Volksmarch Association. They sponsor the event every year. Therefore, they call it a Volksmarch. 😉 Thanks for watching! 😊
@@lluchadden4040Since then, they have carved part of the arm and the full hand (in 2017). It's a slow process because they don't have any government funding. We honestly don't think it will be finished in our lifetime. Thanks for watching!
