I live here in pismo beach. I've watched all these off road vehicles come and go for decades. Stoked you all have a blast on the beach and dunes. Thanks for bringing the revenue into our town. Keep charging it you off roaders 👊🏻
I went there in the mid nineties and they made us wait at the gate for three hours until the tide went out! I had to drive in when it was pitch dark! Wasn't fun setting up camp in the dark either!! Had to move the next day because we were in a shitty spot (couldn't see anything when we came in)!
For everyone wondering about the saltwater and rust, I'm pretty sure that if these folks can afford all of these toys, they can also afford a pressure washer to clean them up afterwards.
Consider this the next time you are thinking about buying a used car or truck. That salt water got in every crevice in the frame etc. it may take a few months but rust never sleeps.
Thats actualy fresh water draining to the ocean during rain it gets too deep and swift to cross ive seen idiots try and there vehicles stall and there screwed ,i lived by there in the 70's and 80's i wont even go there now too many stupid people last holiday they had a teen shot and killed at the dunes
@Stephen Clark yea so dumb - why would you spend like $300 on a snorkel just so you dont destroy your 30-70k vehicle going through a puddle that was deeper than expected
With a name like Jose you probably stole it n have fake titles like fake dL ss no. I remember crossing this one time like 10-12 years ago around New Years weekend , and on my 14inch lifted truck the headlights where water level. The key is to just cruise thru creep’n. Smash thru all fast like that & u splash a buncha water into ur intake. I saw a lot of people do that, that night & all stalled out in the middle of a raging river!
I have driven thru with my 35 foot RV and I don't have any salt corrosion at all. I power wash it as soon as the whole event is over and spray oil over the undercarriage. That's it. I still have sand come out of the Rug though but its slowly coming out. My quads have no salt damage at all and I have visited many beaches.
I remember going across this in my Jeep and it was pretty scary at first and then we had a good time and road doing buggies right after Pismo Beach is the best place to live
It makes my eyes water every time I bring up a Prismo video.........Born and bred in South Africa, now living in New Zealand and nothing but nothing comes close to this mass gathering of off readers, bikes etc. can’t be leave the money some people have with this trucks and huge azzzzzz campers. I’m so proud on the roof tent on my Landrover haha!!
@Ch0plol When did I say I was above others? Never. Just find this childish and irresponsible is all. I wouldn't be riding shotgun in a truck on a beach because that's not my cup of tea, but If was I honest to god wouldn't find it all that fun. Again, just not my cup of tea.
Man slot of complaining on this vid. This is why u buy 4x4 off road vehicles. To play. I see all of these lifted trucks and jeeps here in Philly just to drive city streets. I love driving my trucks on the beach.
Going off-road fun, but the salt scares me. Have you noticed much corrosion on your beach trucks? I drove my truck on the beach once and went to a car wash with an undercarriage flush the same day.
What are you talking about?? I go to pismo every year sometimes 2 or 3 times a year and have no rust on my 69 f250 4x4... How's that you ask?? Well I just go the car wash after and rinse all the salt water off with fresh water..... It doesn't take a lot of brains to beat salt...
Same thing happens here on the Texas Coast. Best way to get out is to do like the Ambulance did. Drive out towards the water & drive on top of the sand bar. It’s the shallowest. Water breaks there but if you time it? It’s simple. I’ve driven straight out to the 2nd sand bar & crossed. People tripped out at just how shallow it is.
If someone made a drive through depth adjustable salt rinse bath to go basically headlight deep through it slowly and get all salt water removed, with an anti corrosive in it, could make a killing off everyone going through it. Have it flow through a salt removing filter after each vehicle passes through
PSA : to all those comments criticizing the drivers if these cars get rusted then what are they meant for if they cannot be in like 10inches of water then all the testings that the car manufacturers do are pointless and don't say that they have no brain guys they just enjoy their vehicules finally most of the people who say that they will get rust quickly it's false because as for a boat once you get it out of the salt water you need to clean it with natural water and every moist and rust will be avoided
Every time I go to Pismo Beach i get stuck in the sand in my RV. Fortunately the company i work for pays for a towing vehicle to pull me out. Unless I’m in a 4 x 4, I prefer Dumont Dunes or the Glamis.
I guess that there is no point in repeatedly reminding people that this is a RIVER crossing. If you cross at high tide and low-river, yes, you will go through salt water. The beach is posted at 15 mph for good reason. In the old days, the ambulances never stopped back-and-forth. The temp sheriffs station had a huge book of tear-offs with directions to the hospital. I drove my Jeep to the hospital with 10 psi and a whip. Years ago, the river ran too high for too long. McDonalds brought in food for the stranded people. After 2 WEEKS, the State buldozed a road to the sand-miner's property and pulled everybody out. That was back in the days when you could drive all the way to Devil's Slide. There were THREE river crossings if they got a good rain. You never went anywhere without your tide table. At the hearings for development, it was the developers who cried to cut Pismo way back, not the enviros.
I can’t fathom driving my $65,000 ram 3500, pulling my $60-$80 RV through a salt water bath!!!! Yes I actually have both. No way would I do it, unless there was a fresh water under carriage wash directly after.
I go there twice a year. My 2006 truck and hauler has minimal rust on it. I bet my truck and trailer looks better than folks that live in snow areas where they salt the roads. When there is that much water from the creek run off, the mixer they are driving through more fresh than salt unless it’s a real high tide.
Its not all of California. Up north we laugh at assholes like this. Tear up the beaches and get stuck every half mile. No thanks. We conserve and respect our environment
Omg! We saw ourselves! We are in the dark grey dodge towing the carbon 5th wheel toward the beginning! Thanks for posting! Such fun times even though we left during high tide!
yeah i took my side by side through the water at the beach once and a week later there was rust forming EVERYWHERE. I had it for 2 years prior to that and zero rust. Never again.
This is all cool, good for them! But a car wash will never get that salt water out of the little hidy spots that it likes to go! I live right near the beach and no one drives their cars in the water!! The salt on the roads is bad enough but this! Two or three years the rust will start showing bad, even after one dunking man who ever buys these cars next will be getting some rust buckets!! Feel bad for the kids who don’t know any better! Brand new Dodge diesel dually submerged in salt water!!!! Good luck!!!!!!!!
Driving a vehicle in salt water is one of the dumbest things a person can do. Unless of course they're going to sell it in just a few years. Guaranteed to ruin it.
@@craigerking9790 there is always a way, but it would take you hours to do; just start taking the truck apart and pressure wash every single component. It may be hard and time consuming, but it is a way. There are preventive measures as well such as painting everything with whatever the paint is called to help prevent rust.
I know 4x4 trucks cost a lot of money then a lot of people they take care of the trucks like a baby but when they sell the trucks they don't get shit I go to Pismo every single time when I have a chance then when I came back I just washed my truck
