I could be wrong but I think that 230v lead and plug is from a coolant heater system that people fit in very cold countries that have really cold winters. I know Volvos have a factory option on their cars in cold climates.

Hi, zero advantage, rather the opposite in some cases when the sub has higher mechanical noise of moving parts. Only benefit would be better cooling in a sealed application, which is only a concern for SPL heads. We reverse mount subs sometimes because of physical limitations when it comes to depth like in this case. The basket and magnet are too deep, that’s all.
Hi Peter. About those A class Steg's. I remember that more than 20 years ago, Steg had them and were regarded as one of the best sounding amps. These look the same, just as the K series. Is there anything that these make them different than when they were first introduced?
I also have a newer mercedes running a 500w mono block on the stock battery. Will the battery not like it and only output a certain amount? sometimes I feel like the sub isn't as loud on some days.
Does the ground wire have a sensor on it? Mine does in the Mercedes c300 and someone told me that I shouldn’t add a bigger ground since it would mess up smart charging.

I've been mulling over ideas for a dual battery setup in my project truck build and I keep coming back to dc-dc chargers as the most recommended route , also mainly because I will use a solar panel to replenish what the alarm with sensors and a wifi hotspot consume (hotspot used to alert me of any dashcam triggers). Anyways, I've always been told that when selecting battery isolators, to use an amperage at least equal to the Alternator output. (200a Alt = 200a Minimun isolator). Now, with these DC-DC Chargers with built in isolators like you've used in this video, is there any requirement for isolator amperage in reference to Alternator output? Could one use, say, a 40 or 50 A DC DC Charger with a high output 350 A Mechman Alternator? I appreciate any help you can share, Thank you!
Check out what the maximum charging is for the lithium battery in amper and then you’ll see clearly if you can have direct charge from the alt or you need a DC-DC to limit it.
Hi Peter, great and complex system. After seeing this built in the trunk I think you have added more weight to the rear of the vehicle, how do the rear suspension manage the weight of the whole system. Do you upgrade the rear suspension to maintain the weight and the height.
What are the box specs bud for the jl sub. I have the same 13w7 like the setup would probably suit my golf r nicely. Edit I have also the HD1200 amp lol had it for years before getting the 13w7 sub.
It depends on what you want to achieve. It can work great in 50L sealed, being a bit punchier while still have enough extension. EQ can always help at the bottom-end. We built this box for lower Qtc to achieve lower F3 as we have a front sub in this system. This box was around 80L.
@@pssound9749Hey, Thanks for taking the time to reply, I know you are super busy. Wow 80 litres is huge that's almost 1/3 larger than jl recommends, size does matter. I thought it was sealed to begin with but now I'm starting to think it's probably ported and tuned super low if I understand right from measurements you mentioned, I did wonder if the sides of the box were ported in a down firing sort of setup and if you achieved some of the space utilising the spare tyre compartment in the box design, you definitely did a great job keeping the box looking fairly low profile for how big it really is, very impressive! Anyway, think I'm going to join the patreon club because you do offer a huge wealth of knowledge and also just a bit of a thankyou for taking the time to reply to someone who's not on your supporters list yet. I have only been following your channel about a month now and already jumped the gun on a zapco dsp thanks to a few of your videos showing zapco stuff. That was good enough for me to jump on one, albeit a 'shoe box amp' (think I got your phrasing right 😂) inclusive one, bit of an oversight and rushed decision on my part as it only has 2 RCA outputs which limits my ability to add full active setup with external amps later unless I go high level out of the zapco into the other amp which to me ads a possible or inevitable even higher noise floor from the outset, not to mention the dsp/amp doesn't fit under the seat now because it's trying to accommodate 10 channels of amplification, bit annoyed with myself over that decision actually but never mind, hopefully I can sell it and recoup most of the costs. I definitely want a similar outcome to what you guys have achieved from the JL I want tight and low don't care if I lose quiet a few dB in output from the sub, these things just rattle the car to pieces litterally in a one note wonder box and I'm not about that style of listening anymore! 😂 Sorry for the super long winded reply I struggle in that area. @@chloeleedow7250 you have several videos here on RU-vid showing this build, there’s even a playlist for this car. Of course there are even more videos on Patreon showing the little tips. Btw this was a sealed enclosure. Most people wouldn’t believe what the 13W7 is capable of in 15-25Hz in a lower Qtc box with lots of clean power. It can put many IB setups to shame.
Equipment is around $30k. Installation depends on which country and which shop would do it…if you can actually find any shop to do something at this level.
