I'd be honored if some fellow Space-X fans would check out my acoustic piano & vocal cover of INTO THE GREAT WIDE OPEN on my channel in tribute to the legendary TOM PETTY... Mars is only 30 million miles away.
Elon should concentrate in making my electric tesla pick up truck a reality. I don't want to go to space- F that. Sounds cool, but it be terrifying as hell knowing many things can go wrong once you're strapped in that rocket seat.
But seriously, no. You can tell from his expressions. He thinks before speaking. Also he does have some nervous ticks, but not a 'speech impediment'. You could presume this is all due to his intelligence though, literally.
This man will probably be one of the most influential figures of the 21st century, if not the most historically impactful of our species. Congrats and Godspeed forward, Mr. Musk and all of SpaceX. And thank you, thank you, thank you. So very much.
"Silly fun things are important." - Elon Musk, 2018 Yes! This man proves his genius with every sentence; I'm lucky just to be alive at the same time as him.
This man is EVERYTHING that billionaires should be worldwide. He uses his own money to help progress mankind and does it in an exciting and engaging manner. I would up sticks and move to the united states and work for this man and his phenomenal company. There is no other man on this planet that I am in awe of but I hold Elon Musk in the highest of lights. I bet every man and woman who works for Elon has that same mindset too and count their blessings on a daily basis every day they go into work.
Chris Lancaster I sympathize with the point you think you are making, but Buffett actually pledged tens of billions of dollars to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. This will have an immense positive impact on the world. Moreover, Buffett is active in encouraging other rich people to make similar gifts of wealth. See givingpledge.org for more info.
This guy is absolutely amazing. Of course he has a team of very dedicated and gifted people working for him, but without his ambitious ideas and the supreme ability to drive people, we would not have anything like SpaceX today.
urcritic Using hyperbole such as "supreme" just makes your statement laughable. So i believe those engineers are just extreme lazy people with no initiative?
It totally tripped me out when I saw the live shot of the car and the driver with Bowie playing in the background. It is almost like we are not watching reality. Did he really just launch that Tesla into orbit?? WTH!
I'm furious I didn't even know this was happening today. Of course I know the name of the Karshittien baby but didn't know about this. Mainstream media should be ashamed of themselves, this is so awesome
One of the things I like the most about Musk is that he is not one of those "Look what great things I‘ve done" guys. In fact he is encouraging other people out there to do the same things like him.
Yes, he is definitely more intelligent. Yes, he is a visionary. But the word "genius" has a sense of exaggeration. Because what he envisioned is really just the use of existing technology and apply reusability to it. The later part of the engineering process is done by a large group of people, which he has a part to play, but not all.
Trump: what have I not done yet, become president. Elon: what have I not done yet, launched a car into space. Branson: what have I not done yet: nope can't think of anything.
Robert Joiner Actually SpaceX is making rockets waaaaaay cheaper, he's saving you tax dollars. It's standard to launch dummy payloads for testflights. Musk just made it more interesting and funny than just launching a block of concrete.
At 08:30 I point out what is the Brilliance of Elon Musk. "If I can do it then other countries will try.....and that's good. We want a new space race" This is a great example of “It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.” ― Harry Truman In a world of patent law and suppression of amazing invention because it challenges the Corp. E Musk says bring it, Have at me sir, and lets see what happens
I feel like at some point he said the same of Tesla, that he was in it to inspire the idea, not purely to make a profit of his own. He WANTS others to take his inspiration and run with it, because the things he is doing are for the betterment of our species as a whole. And he's done it somewhat with Tesla; other car companies are finally starting to look seriously at EVs and how to improve upon them.
Man the future is cool. How great is it that a billionaire is pouring money into space technology... Amazing minds doing amazing things. That simultaneous booster landing was unreal
EugeneHerbsman I’m still excited about it! Absolutely one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen in my life. I’m only 33, but I still didn’t think I’d live long enough to see something like this.
Dont worry, you'll be totally able to see the human step on mars land, im only 17 years old and just thinking what ill be able to see at 50 or 60 makes me dreamy
All that money goes to your freedom. If we didn’t have a defense budget Germany would rule all of Europe, more than half the world would be communist and we would still live in fear of the tyrannical govts that we fought for our freedom.
People asked for a few years following his untimely death, "Who will be the next Steve Jobs?" Nobody....Steve did his own thing and it was great.....but Elon is for a new generation what Steve was for mine....bravo.....damn - you guys get to go to the stars!!!! Congrats #spacex
This made me SO happy, I'm sort of welling up, here, but with a huge smile on my face. I'm in awe, sir. Very moving gesture and imagery, as well as a mind-adjusting level of technical accomplishment from the whole team.
Elon\SpaceX shouldn’t have to shoulder the design costs on such a tiny budget. They are doing this on a revenue stream of 2 billion a year. We just blew 420 billion on the unnessesary fighter jet F35. These are messed up priorities.
lol what? left to rot? the only thing SpaceX did was built a horizontal integration facility, the rest of the pad is as it ever was. and in the moment you paid taxes that money belongs to the goverment. and SpaceX recieves a lot of money from NASA. in fact, for the first 5 years of its existence, SpaceX's only client was NASA.
I'm an engineer, and understand perfectly at heart all his doubts and amazement at seeing their creation just work... but if I worked at one of the companies that offer insurance for satellite launches... I'd be adding quite a premium to Falcon Heavy launches. I love how honest he is, but I want SpaceX to survive, and it needs the money for that. Anyways thumbs up for this bunch of great engineers that got us dreaming again!
The most invaluable human on the planet today. We have had scientists who have pushed mankind forward, Elon, the first ever real entrepreneur/ engineer to achieve that.
You sent a hot wheels roadster with a tiny starman on a bigger roadster with a bigger starman on a 90 million dollar rocket just for fun? WOW haha..im shook
I love what you represent Elon. People like you are the future of mankind, people who have the desire and the courage to look and venture beyond the horizon.
Elon and all of SpaceX are amazing. Unbelievable feat of human ingenuity. Congrats to all those involved it was definitely an emotional moment seeing the pod open exposing the car with the vibrant blue earth in the background! Incredible!!
One time it didn't sound like he said falcon heavy... He did, it just sounded like something else. Elon looks beyond tired. I imagine that he is very happy with how everything went, but doesn't have the energy to display that.
Just observing Elon Musk, I can see how much a leader this man is, from him never giving up, Elon doesn’t have NO in his vocabulary and I love that perspective (mindset) 🙏🏽🚀
I saw rockets landing from point A to point B (homing rockets) - if there is a technology to do that, just reverse and you have the technology to land from point B to point A (adding radar is also known military technology). People are jerking off because a private company did this, without noting the fact the company has government background. Elon says nothing is impossible. I'd say that nothing is impossible if you're having a government background/facilities. The question is, how did he get the access to those, as a private person :-)
Even if you dont like this guy you gotta applaud what he is doing, changing the game when it comes to solar battery storage and electric cars and space exploration... Those 2 rockets coming back down to earth and landing again at the same time blew me away.
Salute Elon! What do you call a flat earther?.... Problem What do you call 1000 flat earthers?..... Bigger problem What do you call all flat earthers on the moon?...... Problem solved
It's not hard...just concentrate and bring your hands together....no need to slow clap...once you master that, try tap dancing at the same time....tap clappin
What's wrong with 480p, I mean I watch most videos in 360p even if they're available in glorious 4k because I'd kinda feel bad for my wifi to stream unnecessarily large amounts of data all day
I love this guy so much. He knew nothing about rocket science. He reads books to learn. And now here he is. What an inspiration. And the best part is he's doing it to inspire people. Thank you, Elon Musk.
Mr. Musk has been awake a long time time today. One of the greatest achievements was the simultaneous firing of 27 engines. No one has tried to do this since the Soviet N-1 with 30 engines back in the 1960s. And there are a number of Firsts besides this one. Either he's very tired or he's quite modest. Those that know him best would be able to say for sure. What a day in Space for mankind!
Elon mentioned that the "Grid Fins" were made from Titanium - I wonder if they had to make other components from Ti in order to deal with the stress & mechanical loads???
Look at how much more polite these reporters are than the Whitehouse ones. No constant shutter snapping, either. MUCH more civilized press conference, imho. $1/2 Billion for development. Yikes!!
That’s because this press conference is a sham and all the questions are prepared in advance. Otherwise, someone might ask why we’re spending billions on sending a car to space while billions of people starve on earth.
Juan Valdez 🤨 They didn't spend billions to send a car to space, they spent half a billion (or perhaps more) to get to the point where they could send car-sized payloads into orbit. They just used a much less boring test mass than a chunk of concrete, leading to an excellent and inspiring PR stunt. Damn. I want a framed picture of Starman on my wall.
theliftexpert this man and all his amazing employees. No man is more than those who help make him great! But yes as a leader of innovation he excels! Need more passion and diversity inclusion in other human goals to really evolve us as a species!
