Late 80s and Early 90s (when I collected, sadly) baseball cards are mostly worthless, unfortunately. They just made SOOOOO many of them.

Was definitely apart of the junk wax era that Topps lead the effort to water down the industry, but for $200 you could have sold the entire box and made double your money east. Don’t sell lots of 5; just sell the box.

.selling the packs at .75-$1.50 is crazy and would take forever to sell. The display case makes it a little more rare but it’s still 1989 Topps. Good idea to pass. 89 donruss is a diff story.

Last week every garage sale I went too, a different guy would ask, "Do you have any video games?" I use to be the guy who asked, "Any lego for sale?" but realized it was a waste of time. The one person who said yes, their daughter said she was keeping them for her kids. I just buy whatever is out for sale now.

There is no way I would pay $200.00 for 1989 Topps. I would give $50.00 for the box and that is just because I want the display. I would set it up in my house as a display in my man cave.

I would have passed. it would be way too hard trying to sell all those packs like that. people want to just buy a box of 36 packs not a big lot of loose packs. these boxes sell for like 20 bucks a box at most. 648 packs is 18 boxes basically. do the math and thats 360 bucks ... after fees and all that youre around 300 bucks for a whopping 100 dollar measly profit. not worth the time and hassle it would take for a hundred bucks.

all the griffys in a whole case would be fun to open. should have bought one. and randy johnsons rookie card and nolan ryan is cool and but you would have had pages of griffy cards. someone will make money on the cases.

If you could get them for $80-100 on the cards you could do ok just to resale. But 1989 topps not that good but 1989 upper deck you throw the money at her for$ 200.

The problem with cards from the junk wax era is that they're just too damn abundant and just so difficult to move hence the name "junk wax". Of course at the right price you can make a nice profit but I wouldn't pay more than $5 bucks a box for 89 Topps, and it's sad because so many HOF'ers had their rookie cards in the "junk wax" era making their rookie cards worth pretty much nothing raw, I mean just about every .50 cent or $1 dollar bin at any card show is stuffed with them... 89 Topps and other junk wax is just fun to have around if you're a collector and get the occasional urge to break some sealed product - but then again it gets boring after a while which is why I keep a nice selection around.. Of course junk wax is excellent for kids to break, I mean while I'm breaking my higher end product I let my 6-year-old son break a box of junk wax, he really enjoys it, I really enjoy it and I don't have to worry about him hitting a $500 dollar card and dinging up the corners in the process lol and he feels just as much part of the break as dad - which is great - it's excellent for "bonding time with dad", and it's also great just to keep the kids occupied if you're doing a non-card related project that requires attention, lol.. A box will get you a good hour of "quite time" while you focus on getting what you need to done.. Trust me, I'll give my son 3 boxes and ask him to make me a set and he will be occupied for 6 hours straight, lol - not to mention - sports cards of any sport are also fantastic learning tools considering they teach kids organizational skills, hand-eye coordination, it encourages them to read and understand statistics, count and recognize and put cards in order via number sequence. So yea, as both a parent and collector junk wax is worth every penny at the right price.

1989? That set is actually worthless the amount of money that lady spent on the storage is far more then the junk wax..I actually used thousands of that year for my fire pit and broke even...

89 is a crap set. If you spend the $500 or whatever for all of those, you will be lucky to get $100 in value cards.

lol.....dude take it from someone who has been doing it for decades....never ever check sales comps in front of their faces.....learn your cats so you know what you see when you see it.....and honestly that was a steal at $200 a case for those unopened packs....especially still having the display case with them which honestly though they are from the junk ear of the late 80's....the display cases were usually only sold to stores, dealers so on....not everyday collectors in those days so they are more rare.....I would have told her give me every unopened case you have....with that many packs .....even if I sold them in small lots and sold the display stand seperate I could easily double my money at the time you made this video.......with the boom over the last year in the hobby that is the largest boom its had now since the 1980s....people are buying anything and everything and these are now over 30 years old and unopened......not that hard at all to more than double your money on those....even giving her the $200.

Old baseball cards really aren't worth much. Sports cards are only worth a lot now because they are doing limited prints. There was just too many made back in the day for them to be worth anything unless you have the absolute best of the best.
