GDI Engines are notorious for carbon buildup which reduces efficiency and performance of your car. So CRC put together this kit that you can use every 10,000 miles to restore and improve your engine efficiency and keep your GDI engine clean of carbon buildup. This is a review of the kit where I show you what's inside and how to use the kit. The CRC GDI Service kit will clean intake valves, turbo, injectors, cylinder heads, pistons, throttle body, mass air flow sensor, and spark plugs.

The reason they give you the oil supplement is because after cleaning the intake valves on a gdi using crc, it is recommended that the oil be changed soon after. Dealerships offer gdi cleaning during oil change visits.

The dealerships recommend this service and they do it and I called 2 dealers. One wanted $160 and the other wanted $220. That also included a injectors cleaning. They use something called BG or KG. They use a spray the same way and they put a bottle in the tank. I asked them about the heat soak and the drive after, and they didn't know what I was talking about. Or at least the guy I talked to didn't. Anyway! Good job! China has banned the Honda with the oil dilution problem until they fix the problem. I believe Toyota is the first to have both port and direct injection systems now. So the valve's get washed
@mkefayati473
@mkefayati473 4 года назад
The dealers use BG, it is not easy to get and also BG, hold highest industrial standard, it basically cleans better than any other product out there. I live in Canada, and I tried to order BG online, and they do not ship to Canada! only dealers and mechanics with a business registration.

To prevent the build up of carbon in future, fit a closed loop catch can to separate the contaminants in the can from the PCV valve.

IIRC oil catch cans are pretty much pointless for GDI. Better off spending that money on walnut blasting.

Occ are a way to slow down carbon build up but none of them will prevent carbon build up on intake valves.
@johnjesusiskingofkings1770
@johnjesusiskingofkings1770 4 года назад
@@iKnollex How could you honestly say they are pointless for GDI? At every oil change, dumping out fluid ounces of oil that would have otherwise built up on the valves is not pointless. So your advice is to walnut blast, and do nothing to stop the actual problem... Please don't give advice if you aren't completely sure about this whole idea.

The one thing I wonder about is Ford engineering has said that directly spraying in carbon removers has been blowing up engines. I guess the turbos got so hot they turned red. I am not saying this kit does it but I am wondering what the manufacturer says.
@santaclause6462
@santaclause6462 6 лет назад
You dont want to add any oil additives to a GDI engine you simply want to get a low evaporative oil, also add a catch can if turbo/supercharged. AMS Oil is a good oil so is Penzoil Ultra they have low evaporation when in operation so less is recycled threw the EGR system. The catch can especially with turbo/supercharged vehicles helps when crank case pressures are high the catch can will get some of the blow by. The throttle body cleaner is helpful though (Could also just get carb cleaner) The MAF cleaner is helpful too if you happen to have a MAF (Rubbing alchohol and Q-tips work for MAF cleaning and are cheaper & Turbo vehicles wont have a MAF they have a MAP sensor) As for the valve & turbo cleaner that doesnt seem to healthy for the engine honestly. Its trying to burn the fuel and your spraying that into it. Just use a low evaporative oil, put a catch can on, use a high quality high octane fuel, do your oil changes on time, and youll be just fine once valve carbon buildup is a issue get it sandblasted with an almond media its not that much.

But this kind of attempt to clean the intake valves on EcoBoost engines of Ford are determined to be a definite cause for the failure of the turbochargers. The cleaning chemical creates more heat when it's shot down the air intake system, and then the extra high heat created damages (warping and breaking) the vulnerably thin Turbo fins.

Its hilarious when people wonder about what the cat looks like after treatment. I don't know about anyone else, but I'd much rather have to replace a cat, over time, than to replace an engine. Same with a turbo. Cheaper and easier to swap out a cat or turbo than an engine. Best advice is to stay on top of it from new or with a low mileage engine. If you buy a DI engine with high miles...Idk...you may then run more of a risk of large chunks breaking off. Time will tell the future for DI engines. Personally I don't like them for this reason and even with a PI/DI engine there's just too much that can go wrong. I'm sticking with port injection for as long as I can or until manufacturers come up with a real solution to the carbon issue.

Really think this is a bad idea. Lose carbon can cause engine damage if a good size piece of carbon comes off the intake valve into the engine. Damaged piston,valves, cylinder wall damage, broken spark plugs,bent rods. Even if that does not happen were does it go from there. Into the cat and plug that up. May be ok if you bought the car new and did it every 10,000 miles
@aDIYCarGuy
@aDIYCarGuy 6 лет назад
if you just let the carbon build up it can break off anyway and the damage may happen....this is maintenance that should be done from the time a gdi car is bought new
@Alteriukas
@Alteriukas 6 лет назад
These chemicals will barely remove any carbon, so don't even worry about "chunks"
@berczigabor
@berczigabor 5 лет назад
And whatever they remove gets dissolved in the fluid or in the worst case in a "mush", so, it can't damage the engine either. And as soon as it gets into the combustion chambers, it will burn, so, it won't clog up your cat either. Or not any more than does the excess soot your engine is generating because of not getting enough air anyway.

@ Your the one who don't understand anything. Catalytic converter gets very very hot due to excessive amount of fuel and oxygen. Catalytic converter burns more fuel than the engine. Just look how stupid new vehicles are, they consume more fuel when idling. It's good for the environment to burn fuel without producing power. Isn't it stupid? Old cars don't have cats because the fuel pump is not inside the fuel tank. The boiling point of gasoline is low so why the hell will you put a electronic fuel pump that generates heat inside the fuel tank. To make fuel evaporate. The reason why they want to burn evaporating fuel is to prevent someone from extracting fuel vapor from air.

CRC Valve Cleaner is the solution but don't follow instructions on can. 2017 Sonata new got 32mpg combined. At 25K now gets 26mpg combined. After cleaning, returned to 32mpg and sets you back into the seat @ WOT, so it works. Bring car to operating temp., spray intake (down flow from any MAF) with full spray at 2500rpm. Engine will choke down and almost die, turn off at this point. Let heat soak for 1 hour. Start and drive for a couple miles and repeat twice (3 times total). Engine will crank longer before starting and will rattle and ping first mile of first cleaning. This method only uses 1/3 can for all three heat soaks. The initial pinging proves that carbon was breaking away after each heat soak. No codes set and 5K mile later (30K). Blow-by from crankcase increases with each acceleration and that is why highway use delays carbon buildup. I am a lead foot with WOT used frequently. I will do one heat soak every oil change from now on. GDI problem handled.

@KingZoneOne
@KingZoneOne 6 лет назад
Um, no. The throttle body is AFTER the turbo, which means whatever you spray into the throttle body goes directly into the intake manifold and over the back sides of your valves. It doesn't do ANYTHING for the turbo. To clean your turbo, cleaner would have to be sprayed directly into your intake somewhere after your air filter and flow sensor so that it travels THROUGH your turbo on it's way TO your throttle body.

You need to have this blow by recirculated as it cools the air/fuel charge.

The ONLY way to clean carbon buildup is to take the intake off and walnut shell blast the parts.

unless I see a before and after of the actual valves no way im going to dump something into a gdi engine.

Only way you can tell is an Emissions test. Bore Scope or Engine Tear down.. Fact is. If it does not set a code or blow up. I'm sure it did something....As you can see how dirty all that shit was before he used it... Still nothing beats water injection.
@BiologistRyan
@BiologistRyan 6 лет назад
water injection? Yes I know that you have to actually pull the intake or scope it to see that... If it doesnt set a code or blow up yeah thats fine, but how can you tell you are not screwing something else up?
@MasterChief-sl9ro

Been working on cars for 40 years. I know what will fuck your car up. As I have to repair it out of my pocket. If I screw it up! And yes water injection. Try looking up Bosch water injection. As DI is now staying around. And Water Injection fixes the issue they have...
@BiologistRyan
@BiologistRyan 6 лет назад
cool thats a new one.. was thinking maybe it was a typo and you were talking about some sort of meth injection kit. Though you cant add this to a car that doesnt have a port for it though right so doesnt that make it irrelevant for most DI engines out there? Im not knocking the tech it seems really cool, but If I cant use it then what use is it? The video also mentioned nothing about it keeping the valves cleaner in the one I watched. Though I suppose anything flowing over the valves beats nothing and if the valves are cooler stuff wont bake on them then.

It never blew. The engine worked today, and yesterday, and the day before that, and so on....actually I start it and drive it every day.

Buy a big tube of crazy glue or maybe some JB weld to try to keep the spray nozzle on the intake cleaner can OR see how far you can LONG BOMB it down through the trees and get a can of seafoam...hopefully you will be able to get the CRC can back to china where it came from....you will be mad enough when you try to use it...so I think you will get it there.

Nothing you put in the gas tank will clean the intake ports and intake valves on a GDI engine although it may help the combustion chamber. Please stop with the "Improve your gas mileage" BS. The biggest determining factor on fuel economy is how far down you press the accelerator pedal. The "Friction Guard" is completely unnecessary and honestly a waste of money as everything it says it contains, your engine oil already contains as well. The only product you really need from this kit is Intake Valve and Turbo Cleaner, and possibly the Throttle Body and Air-Intake Cleaner. Save your money and only buy those two.

Kit is garbage , must walnut blast if you want clean valves. We sprayed that directly on the back of the valves and let it sit 40 min then scrubbed them with a soft metal brush ,and still did ot clean up properly,, trust me , do the home work people ,,Do not waist your money on this crap.

jonathan cruz i think if you do it from day one it will in some degree prevent the carbon build up, if it has been 60k miles or so and youve never done this then yeah ur screwed, also an oil catch can helps.
@grassroot011

And use the best oil you can find, with more detergents/antiwear additives, high mileage oils claim to have them to a higher degree.@@michaelguevara8015

It needs to be done regular and from a fairly low mileage. A guy Seafoam his engine every oil change. Bore scoped his valves at 60 or 70k and they were spotless on a turbo DI motor. It’s on RU-vid

You can't expect any product to clean every speck of carbon from an engine. This product restores and maintains sufficient engine cleanlines so that you don't have to dismantle it and clean it by hand.

How does the cleaning fluid get sprayed on the back of the valves if it’s being sprayed through the injectors dinner already in the cylinders??
@aDIYCarGuy
@aDIYCarGuy 6 лет назад
it's not going through the injectors, it's going through the air passage, thus contacting the intake valves
