Super cool trick for converting a 2D image into a 3D environment all in Photoshop! Did this trick at Photoshop World in Atlanta and it was a big hit! Funny enough is not a new feature but works better now that 3D in Photoshop has come a long way! #photoshop #kelbyone
When I do what you say and click OK it returns as the others have said with an empty untextured layer It appears as though it's working but Something isn't right. You must have left something out because I didn't get the same results as you after doing it exactly like you did in the video

Hey Corey Barker, I'm so glad you posted this. I attended your photoshop world class this year and saw this trick. I'm running into a strange issue though. When I create a rotate keyframe like you do instead of following through with the same motion to straighten itself out after it creates a strange bump where it repeats the same motion back to the end keyframe. Any idea what might be causing this? or is there any way to see the keyframe settings a bit more?
I was in a GameMaker class last year. I wanted to do a 3D-in-2D tunnel in which a sprite runs through, avoiding the boxes that move in his way. Because of low-angle framing, the floor is not in frame, limiting visual stereopsis of depth (perspective perception). I went into Adobe Lightroom to create the multiple-rectangle background image (In GameMaker, I only had room for one background layer, so near and far rectangles were the same distance). I tried to make it more convincing by giving a coarse linework, like a rock wall. It didn't work. I made a 3D tunnel with 3DS Max, and that large file was what I ended up using. After 2 weeks of trouble, I turned in my game project, disappointed with the result. And then I started searching for 2.5D and this came up a year later! The vanishing point trick. This would have been great to know! That and that there's a camera in Photoshop.
doesn't work. There is something that you left out of this with regards to camera usage. After setting up the grid in the vanishing point tool, and sending the 3d image back to photoshop, my image is distorted--and I followed your instructions to the letter.
Hey Corey! Awesome tutorial! When I "return to 3D layer to Photoshop" it takes me back to Photoshop but one of the walls is missing. I've redone the process about 4 times now but it continues to happen..do u have any suggestions? Thanks!
Any suggestion on how to extend the clip once you get it on the timeline? I'm using CS6 and it makes the clip 30 frames or 1 sec long. I've tried dragging the end of the clip to extend it but it doesn't budge.
can this file be exported as a 3d file then manipulated in flash? i Managed to export a gif into flash and add a character to create a neat walking animationg however I wonder if i can just export the 3d file and move it around in flash.
