Create a Clickable Table of Contents in Microsoft Word 

Thanks bro, I tried for ages with actual "table of contents" insert options etc but this is WAYYYYY easier. Great video and it helped me out heaps :)

Wow, this is wonderful. All this while I had a Table of Content, in which I had to use "Ctrl Click" to get to the chapter or topic. With the Ctrl button out, your method is simple and easy. Thanks very much.

Since this was done a couple of years ago I believe I have a newer version of Word - regardless this helped me out tremendously! All I had to do after converting all headers to a header style, was to highlight and right-click on my table of content title, select "Hyperlink", and then select "place in this document" which brought up the headers as you said it should. Thought the format looked different for me, the steps were still basically the same with the exception of finding the "Hyperlink" option when I right-clicked, as opposed to finding it in my "Insert" panel.

Is there a way to also have Word auto populate page numbers for you? I could manually enter the page number but if I revise my document and a chapter's page number changes it would be nice for the table of contents to change accordingly

My chapters have two lines, for example: Chapter One: (this centered on one line) Chapter Name (right under it). I tried your trick, however, it didn't group both lines together for the style, so it made them look like 2 different ones. Is there a way to group 2 lines when creating a Heading for my Table of Contents? Thanks.

Hi Phil. Is there a way that I can put a link in an Excel document that directs to a particular part of a page in a separate Word document? How to do that for a songbook? I tried and when I reach the step of hyperlink it did not add my headings. I clicked headings nothing happens. Could it be because my songs are more than one song per page?

for some reason, my headings option isn't available, it's only bookmarks. I clearly made each one of my titles headings but it's just not showing up!
