Learn how to create a plugin for the Elgato Stream Deck that communicates with webhook APIs using JavaScript. A written version of this tutorial can be found at www.thepolyglotdeveloper.com/...
Seems things have improved, I no longer have to reinstall the plugin every change I want to test. But I do have to restart StreamDeck app to see my changes
Hey, Amazing Video. small problem when i try to use the DistributionTool i get the error "Error: The plugin path doesn't exist" anything that can help?
Thanks for the tutorial. Just wondering if I am confused. Can this work to create an IFTTT webhook action to interact with Stream Deck actions? For example, when someone like a post in FB I identify that with IFTTT and trigger a Webhook action to my Stream Deck to Flash lights.
I don't think the Stream Deck can receive requests, only send them. If IFTTT can receive HTTP requests, then the Stream Deck can send them. Does that help?
@@ThePolyglotDeveloper yep that is correct. My research ended up right there. I will need to use a workaround with custom code to connect my lights using Smart Things then connect it through IFTTT
Imagine not coding since TRS-80 or Basic with a C64 and waking up modern day and saying.... "I've got an idea. I want to learn to code or script with REST". I had an idea to use my company's REST API (which I know nothing about, but am trying to learn it with Postman), and also saying... "I wonder if I can program my kid's Stream Deck to webhook into machine data and post it to the SD keys". I searched RESTful API and Stream Deck and found this video. No, I do not believe I will be taking on the world and understanding most everything overnight, but believe in reverse engineering. Not a GH user and don't know how to download the plugin so I can look at it, edit it with simple request and see how they show up on the deck. Just an old guy with time on his hands and an idea that would be exceptionally useful to me and other colleagues if this works. Please advise on what specifically I need to download from your repo. Another reason why I thought this might be possible because I saw people showing pc system stats with histograms on the keys with live data (frame rates, cpu temp, cpu load, etc)
thanks for the tutorial... a little too advanced for me :) Is there any way to create a plugin to display in one of the stream deck buttons a live YT subscriber count? I found a setImage plugin, i wonder if i can automate a screenshot that will populate the plugin to display on the button. TIA
