So much fun watching your creative genius at work Annie! Thank you for bleach technique. Discarded as trash I found some turquoise/teal chairs from1940's or 50's. They have layers consisting of the original pale mint green paint, & then vintage turquoise/teal paint on top of that with some bare wood showing through as well, this all done by time & wear alone. My hubby can't understand my fascination with these chairs he calls them "ugly, worn & old" 😂, to me they are wonderfully beautiful!!

My wife and I appreciate you sharing these techniques so that we can continue to build our skills. It would be incredibly helpful if you used an additional overhead camera to see up close what you are doing in real time. The single camera is to far from your work table and one cannot see adequately the brush strokes. Thank you for considering this request. Cheers.

Totally agree!! I'm both a hands-on and a visual learner but since Annie isn't actually here to teach me, I've gotta really see what she's doing. I hope they can get better, closer shots. 👍🏻

@@barbie3166 if you have time, watch Jonaton Marc Mendes for his excellent tutorials. His channel is called Painted Love. He uses two cameras, including one overhead. You really get to see what he is actually doing. Cheers.

I love this so much! I was thinking the dresser behind you was actually bought with the paint naturally weathered like that-I love that it can be done by anyone.

I had a dresser once that had about 5 or 6 layers of paint on it. I started stripping it and the paint was barely budging....but it revealed multiple chippy colors of yellow, blue and gray and and it reminded me of a Monet water color as the colors revealed themselves with scraping. I thought it was quite beautiful so I stopped what I was doing and just did a light sand and added topcoat. It was one of my favorite pieces! I've been thinking ...I wish I could recreate that. I think this technique is it!! Thanks Annie!!

🌼 What a fabulous technique! Thank you for a wonderful tutorial I love your yellow/grey piece & I agree, Provence and red are amazing together. We don't have the thick bleach here but I found it online and it can be shipped. I also found a diy vid but that just seems like too much work so I will pay for the convenience of ordering/shipping

Comment made but another member of the forum. Not mine "I'm sorry but you're wrong. Dry bleach can be reactivated with anything damp. Chlorine as well. Try wiping your bathroom wall with chlorine on a sponge and later hang a bright-colored bath towel against it after use and presto, you have just ruined your new exclusive towels! And it does affect the environment. You want to leave those rags etc where you leave your batteries. If you can avoid using such products it's better. Yes, they are common household products in some countries, but to great detriment to the environment. I'd also advise using latex gloves when working with bleach, it's a serious skin irritant. It also has a slight yellowing effect if chlorine-based, just handy to know." Reply

Would look even more authentic if you gave it touches of black wax on low wear spots.

@@mercedespaker335 thanks. I find Americans online kind of shocking that way. They really seem to WANT to be oblivious to personal responsibilitiy regarding toxins and the environment, and often get agressive if you point out the dangers of what they use or how to handle substances, yet will do eat and buy rediculous things in order to "detox" and get very upset when their pets die of cancer, their kids develop extreme allergies and will put any vile chemicals on floors, clothes and in the lawn because insects are "gross" and "bacteria is bad". And save a small portion of sensible people, will eat produce that's entirely banned from EU countries due to the antibiotics, toxins and known carcinogenic additives in it and unethical practices involved. I know Americans who care and are aware, but their online presence is minimal in comparison. This phenomenon goes for women every bit as much as men, interestingly. I can't help but see it as very childlike. All about WANT and NOW, then later cry about the consequences. It's no wonder US legislation and regulation is the worst of developed countries in regards to these issues. And public health is shockingly bad. It's very much a collective choice. Tragedy in the true sense of the word.

To avoid the bleach, honestly I feel like you could simply paint and scrape as you go, that way you avoid the toxic bleach which is known to cause breast cancer in women :(
