Thanks josh! I’m a worship pastor for a church and I’m over our videos currently. This video was insanely helpful. If there are any more videos you have on animation I would appreciate it!
Could you do an updated video on this for Davinci Resolve 18? I've followed you, step-by-step, and it's just NOT working. Just like you, I'm working on manipulating 3 parts of an image, so 3 masks, 3 mediains, and 3 merges. Once I connect the 3rd and final polygon tool to the 3rd and final mediain, all 3 masks suddenly resize and reposition themselves to a completely incorrect size and position. This just completely halts the process and I have no idea how to resolve it...
Another creator made a video that pretty much explained and solved my issue. Basically, instead of attaching the mask to the mediain node, attach it to the mediain's merge node. I'd be glad to share the video with you, but you're probably already aware of the soltuion.
Man your videos deserve more credit, I see people who take 20min to tell you how to zoom in da vinchi. And then the people who talk to fast and slow down on the simplest things. Your videos are In the middle. Good job, keep it up! 💯
Perfect for what I need. To the point, simple enough yet plenty of cool factor. These steps will help me take my clients' logos to a level that I think they will love! One request, however, of anyone's RU-vid tutorials, to be honest: Show us the end result right away, like in the first 10 seconds. What you showed us starting at about 6:54... If I could have seen that within the first 10 seconds or so, that would have really helped me to know if this is the right tutorial for my need at this time. As it is, I love your videos so much that I scrubbed through till I found out exactly where this tutorial was headed. With most RU-vid videos, I don't bother to do that. If I don't know the final result up front, I move on and look for another tutorial. Again, you're an exception for me because I know you are the best! So.... just FWIW, a recommendation.
With so so so many crappy tutorials out there, you are a breath of fresh air. You get it. And overall this method seems fine, I could do this so so so much simpler in after effects. I find fusion to be very convoluted. To say the least. But thanks for doing such a great job.
Super helpful tutorial, took me a bit longer as sometimes when I went to the next merge it would makr everything invisible. Would just click undo to get by that. Either way eventually was able to animate a logo, thank you so much 😊
Hi ! This great. My only problem is I'm a newbie with DaVinci Resolve and have to create an animated logo quick. I'll be back like a certain Arnold said... Thanks !
Not sure why. I followed instructions exactly, but it's not animating the part of the logo I specified with polygon. It's just moving the entire photo. I wonder if I didn't close the polygon correctly when drawing it
Hi! When I connect the median1_1 to Merge1 to create Merge 2, the logo doubled in the screen ( the new one is much bigger) i dont know why this happens. It does the same when i connect the Median1_2 to Merge 2. So i end up with 3 logos on top of each other ;( Please help!
When I connect the Median1 (my main image) to the merge, the background takes over and the screen becomes black. Is it because my image isn't what you consider clipart? Very confused.
Thanks for the video! Did you say why you prefer using a fusion composition instead of editing the photo directly? Can't seem to find your reasoning later n the vid
Hey, I think I had the same issue as you. Another creator made a video that pretty much explained and solved it. Basically, instead of attaching the mask to the mediain node, attach it to the mediain's merge node. That's all I got for ya. Still learning, so I can't really help any other way. This is where I had issues.

Great tutorial. Josh I'm having a really hard time trying to figure out how to export with transparent background? Ive tried messing with the Alpha on the background inside fusion, as well as tried to find simple solid videos explaining it, But so far there's just nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Save it into a Power Bin. It can be found on the left hand side of DaVinci’s UI on the Edit page where you commonly find your imported footage (just a little below that). Make a new power bin for whatever project your working on and drag the completed fusion intro into the bin. I hope this helps!
Not sure what I am doing wrong, but this just flat-out doesn't work for me. Feels like there is more to this than what is shown. I can do this in a heartbeat in Photoshop/Aftereffects. But Fusion makes me feel real dumb.

too complicated software for animation. think is best used for color correction and color grading. animation like this could be done in Apple motion 5 easily no nodes no bullshit. After effects best for that.

Well this just reaffirmed my suspicion that Resolve is an extremely inefficient tool for motion graphics. Unfortunate, because I’d love to have an option other than After Effects, but this workflow is pretty ridiculous. 😂
