1st I like that your nerdy...im nerdy How long did it take you to learn the software? You made it look so easy. So once you creat the music samples....then we can then play live as new songs we write? Elise, I'm trying to understand if I'm thinking correctly about what software is doing? Make any sense? Thank you...... Great job ... I'm so impressed!
Hey Rogelio! Thanks for the comment. This video is more about recording your songs, rather than playing live. So if you wanted to create a recorded version of your song to release on Spotify for example, you could add strings this way. You can absolutely use this software to play live - it just involves a few more steps. That's a good idea for a future video. Does that answer your question? And I have been using Ableton for about 7 years - but you can learn it much quicker than that! haha So glad you enjoyed the vid. Thanks for watching! Elise 🙂
Great tutorial, very helpful stuff on note relationships and chord progressions. Those vocals sound awesome. I was following along, wrote a cool piano melody, made some levitating delayed piano melody thing and went to add some strings. I realised very quickly i'm using Ableton 11 standard which doesn't come with those awesome string sections you're using. There's a bunch of really trippy strings on here but none of them sound very realistic so its back to the drawing board I think learning to sound design them. Trying to get out of paying for an awesome native instruments plugin. (OUCH). Anyway, Great job. Thanks for the tutorial.
@DAWter When you say "groupd are good cause you can FX every tack at once" you mean the separate output of all tracks from that group are going through that FX layer in the group or you mean that all the tracks combine and that output is then going to the FX layers? because it is different to have an effect for each track that it is to have one effect for the combined output of multiple track. So, to sum up, does it work like a return track?
Great question! You can slowly reduce the volume using automation. Search for volume automation in Ableton and i'm sure you'll find a bunch of tutorials. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment :-)
