In today's video I will be teaching you how to do a bright boho nightstand makeover! I will be going through it step by step with you showing you how you can do this furniture makeover for yourself! I will be using ‪@DixieBellePaint‬ Dixie Belle Chalk Mineral Paint in the color Plum Crazy and sealing it with their Best Dang Wax in Clear. 😍 I just love this color like you and you did a beautiful job. Now I did notice that some of the color was coming off when you were buffing out the butter

Thank you! The color wasn’t necessarily coming off. The wax literally sinks into the paint tinting it to whatever color you painted with. That’s why the cloth looked like it had some pink on it.

What is name of brush and where to buy? My clear wax comes out blotchy. What am I doing wrong?

The wax brush? I found at Walmart! Here’s what it’s called: Linzer BEST Professional Chalk and Wax Artist Brush Set, 2 Piece. If it’s looking blotchy, there are 3 things that could be causing this: 1. You are not working it in enough with your brush. 2. Or not buffing it out well enough with your rag/lint free cloth. 3. Or you are just simply applying too much. I hope that helps! Let me know if you have any other questions!

A sweet piece, you can even comeback later and add some guilding on the legs on a couple of those lined horizontal ridges, it you decide to, either gold leaf or guilding wax. It's a great little piece.

It's personal preference. There's no rule on misting. Sometimes you just don't need to.

Wow, your table is wearing jewelry! So pretty! Have you ever used an electric buffer when buffing the wax? Just curious, and it seems like it would be easier on someone, like myself who has had shoulder surgeries. 🙂👍

Yes! My favorite kind of jewelry 😉 No, I haven't! I bet it would work...my only worry would be that it could be too strong and remove paint since it wouldn't be cured yet. I have bad shoulders myself so that's a big reason why I don't use wax very often.

Thank you! There are a few reasons why one would use a primer: 1. to block stains and wood bleed-through and 2. for adhesion. Since I was using a relatively dark color and this wood wasn't a bleeder, I decided not to use a primer. I also wasn't worried about adhesion because I scuff sanded before painting, which allows the paint to adhere to the wood better.

That door pull is so gorgeous! Being that you didn't do shading or effects with different colored wax, it allows that piece of hardware to make this a beautifully colored statement piece. Simple, fun and elegant at the same time!

Love the color! Would priming the wood filled parts have changed the final finish? On chalk paint, will it cover over parts that were missed later on? does it leave a layer or bump on that missed part?

Yes, it sold. Everyone has different colors in their home, so there's no right or wrong color to paint with. If you are worried about things selling, stick to neutrals.
