Here's one great way to write a story: start with an interesting character. Watch me create a character and story in (almost) real-time.
I cut out the dead air but the original recording was 15 minutes. Not bad to get the bones of a character and story on paper from nothing! Hope this demystifies the writing process a bit. You could do this 5-10 times and probably have something you'd want to develop further into an actual film.

About me:
I've been making short films for 20 years, starting at age 11. I directed my first feature film, Bad is Bad, in 2010.
