Have finally started on my road now Jeff, molded yesterday, but this morning it looked a bit bright, perhaps to “modest” with the pigment. The idea is to have the road and weathered window in the same diorama 😃👍🏼

I think he does a good job. Just do all over what he’s doing in the confined shot. Just the mixture for concrete is what I’m after!
@JeffReiten
@JeffReiten 3 года назад
Hey Colossal, the mix is 25% regular plaster - 25% lightweight hydrocal - 25% sand - and 25% water

Just like watching Bob Ross. Every time when you make the next step, im thinking "Oh no, what has he done! Till now it looks so good. Everything is ruined!" But every step further it went better and better and at least it looks perfect. Thanks for showing it. But maybe you can explain some steps when you doing them in the future.

Great technic! Whats that transparent paper that you used there for the paints.?

Hey JC! Thanks! - its waxpaper
@cbrando190
@cbrando190 2 года назад
So, essentially this technique can be applied to a number of different surfaces? Have you tried it on round surfaces?
@JeffReiten
@JeffReiten 2 года назад
Hey C Brando! Yep I have applied to to wood, styrene plastic, plaster..everything except something round...I could see it working if you first cut the waxpaper to fit the round piece/surface

Nice video. But What is the materials? Cement, sand the mixture in the beginning of the video?
@JeffReiten
@JeffReiten Год назад

Again awesome. Is there any difference with the waxpaper and vaseline technique for wood you showed some ago? I have the impression the wax Paper is replaced by some plastic and the vaseline is omitted. Would this work for wood? The splashing of varnish seems also simpler 👍😊
@JeffReiten
@JeffReiten 4 года назад
Hey Luuk Derie,..Thanks!!.. It's basically the same Technique just on concrete..wax paper with vaseline and acrylic paint....a wash of white spirits in between coats to get rid of any vaseline residue...I did a little of both applying the clear flat finish to the acrylic paint/wax paper and directly to the concrete piece
@luukderie8344
@luukderie8344 4 года назад
Hi jeff, i just tried a first time with already quite Nice result. 1. Still 2 remaining questions, do you put the wax Paper on while varnish is still wet? 2. As it not 100% clear to me not in my try, (i probably did put to much pressure on my first go) does the varnish go where the Paint needs to stick or does it go where u want the weathering? Thx in advance for your reply. Grtz Luc

What’s your concrete formula? I know hydrocal right? But what else. It looks so realistic in scale. Color, little gravels. Breaks realistic. I love it.
@JeffReiten
@JeffReiten 3 года назад
Hey Colossal, Thanks..the mix is 25% hydrocal-25% plaster -25% sand -25% water and a touch of pigment for coloring..you can use just hydrocal or plaster if thats all you have
@colossalbigfoot256
@colossalbigfoot256 3 года назад
Jeff Reiten must be the hydrocal plaster mix. Whatever it is it makes it look perfect.

Hi Jeff, another amazing tutorial! I've got three questions, minute 3:39 and 3:57: what do you put on the wall? And 8:17: how it comes that the wall doesn't look "shiny" like it was? Do you use a wash all over the wall? Many thanks!
@JeffReiten
@JeffReiten 3 года назад
Hey Andrea Fuoco, Thank You! - 3:39 is just water and 3:57 is acrylic paint - I wet the piece so the acrylic paint doesn't absorb in to quickly and create that blotchy effect....8:17 is basically the same thing but with white spirits and enamel paints..so the wall looks shinny because i have a coat of white spirit/paint thinner over the entire piece so that the paint doesn't soak into the piece until I blend and fade it a bit....

Hey bennmxer, That may work..I dont have any on hand to try out..but I did just do a quick test using the plastic "ziplock" sandwich bags and that seems to work nicely..plastic shopping bags would probably work too!
