Another example of creating a greyhound trading bot. This one creates a pre-race trade on the favourite before closing all positions prior to the off.

Another very helpful video Alistair. When testing strategies on Fairbot I also use the 'Show Condition Values' checkbox on the Automation tab - this will highlight each of your conditions to show which ones have been met and which ones are failing and with the actual values being used. Very good for debugging!

Good point Simon, particularly if your strategy is quite complicated. Make use of the Fairbot log file as well available from the Options dialog.

Hi Alistair I tried out your strategy this morning on the greyhounds but because of the minimum amount to match the bets weren't getting matched until near the start of the race or even after the race should have gone live. So, I was having matched bets when the race was minus 10 seconds or more after the actual time it should have gone live. So, I changed your strategy by adding a cut off point of minus 15 seconds before the start of the race thus stopping this problem. This is because of the minimum amount to be matched was reaching the £5000 on most occasions well after the 40 second trigger. A cut off time I think makes this strategy better. Thank you for sharing. :-)

There's always going to quite a few greyhound races that have very little volume and what they have comes very late. Generally, the best time for greyhounds is when there's no horse racing. I cannot and do not guarantee that any strategy I put up, whether automated or not, is or will be profitable long term. They merely represent things I have tried and made public to encourage others to develop their own. As such it is good to hear you have been able to take one strategy, use it as a template and identify ways of modifying it to suit your needs. That's exactly what I'm trying to do with this channel. Good video. Just so you know, Betfair changed the minimum bet amount about a month ago - the minimum has now been reduced from £2 to £1.

im glad you doing these automation vids one thing I want to try been trading a year on tennis looking to setup some automation for lay 1st set winner and also scalping on service games I know they work but I get a bit too involved in match doing them manually may cut out a bit of emotion

Happy you're finding the videos of use Tim. Going the automation route will certainly help with the trading mind games as long as you have confidence in the automation. As ever, test and retest before committing too much hard earned cash.

So if I wanted to increase the Stake Size to say $30, would I increase the Account P/L Condition to => -100

You can if you want to. Remember what the 'Account Profit/Loss' condition does. It allows you to define a proft and/or loss for the day either throughout your session over all events or you can define separate conditions for different sports. Setting a lower limit like => -100 sets the daily loss whereas
