This week I put in some rock climbing routes at Cerro Gordo! Climbing is a totally new interest of mine, and I'm very fortunate to have some amazing cliffs surrounding the town. My 18 months living here has exposed me to all sorts of new skills and hobbies and I'm really excited to continue exploring climbing in the future.
I was joined in this video by Bobby Hutton of "HowNot2". Check out his channel for more climbing videos!

Brent, I chuckled a bit when you made it very clear your fear of heights. All I could think of was, you’re scared of being up ⬆️ high but thrive being super deep down ⬇️ in the mines! 🤠🇺🇸 I’m not sure how any of that makes sense but I accept it! Keep it up man! (and down 😉)

Not sure what I’d like to see that you haven’t done yet, but my family and I have watched everything since the beginning. I am always in awe when you go in the caves and all those gemstones, crystals and minerals gleaming all around you. Someday I hope to visit and just sit among it all connecting with the earth and that energy. It must be so amazing for you. Someday I’ll hold a small piece of Cerro Gordo Galena in my hands, it will be my most prized possession. Stay blessed Brent ♥️

@@backyardbraaapn1017 lol. There's a lot of personal responsibility and liability assumed by the climbers. National Park system doesn't get sued, BLM or other land organizations don't get sued for this reason. Now since this is private land and if he was concerned about this; a simple release of liability contract can be signed before entrance on private land. Also that can be done for all activities in Cerro Gordo. Now ask yourself this; does the city or county get sued when a kid falls in a skatepark? On a playground? No. It's only if there was gross negligence on the playground equipment or design would any semblance of a case be applicable. And when people do try the judge normally throws it out.
@ClimbingEasy

@@backyardbraaapn1017 oh okay if you're going to spout your bias BS then whatever. Wanted to educate you, but you just want to troll so that's your own business. By the way maybe you should learn the details of that coffee case you reference. The burns that lady sustained were quite horrific. Also Climbing doesn't just happen in California, neither is lawsuit culture. I don't hate on climbers because climbers are wild west cowboys that don't care if they get injured. Climbers will literally not care or file lawsuit even if a bolt breaks on them. Climbers are the most adamant against regulation type of people possible. Hand drilling those bolt holes should give you an appreciation for the miners who drilled the blast holes in the mines. Not all of them would have been using mechanical drills. Drilling by hand is a two or three man job then.

Things I usually thought of while watching these videos (as in activities for guests): - A platform for stargazing - Rock climbing routes - Having quad bikes available for people to rent to go on trips or even guided trips - A mini-golf area that is mining themed (just because of Brent's history) - A wooden Sauna (from the outside it can just look like those old brothel rooms :p) I am surprised we haven't heard much about fixing some of these ladders in the mine (making it a bit more safe) or digging out some of the minor collapses. Could have some decent potential for more exploration.

I just have to say Brent! You've got me hooked... Ived watched almost every episode from the beginning and a few videos extra and a few times over because I fell asleep watching. You have reminded me how much I used to enjoy my history classes in school and the few really cool teachers that brought that history to life. I feel like that is what you do, is BRING HISTORY TO LIFE! In a way that a book could never teach or show. My really good friend is a teacher at school in my state and I was telling her just tonight that she needs to show her son your channel because I believe it would just fascinate him and draw his interest out in school a little bit more seeing how things used to be in the past. I wish the best for you in everything that you do there at Cerro Gordo! And I can't wait to see what the next year brings for you and your adventures! Be safe, from Washington state!

I'm also scared of heights to the point that it sometimes gets tough for me to just watch a video where people are on the edge of some very high places, and to see you conquer that fear and get out there on that cliff is extremely motivating and really makes me want to face my fears head on. And I'm not just talking about my fear of heights... You have done more in 18 months at Cerro Gordo, than many people have done in their whole life. It's very inspirational, and I just wanted to take a moment to thank you. You probably won't see this but for whatever it's worth I appreciate you leading the way and showing so many of us out there that there's so much life that we're all missing out on, and all we need to do is just get out there and live it. 🙏

You are truly amazing, Brent. Cerro Gordo is an amazing place. One day a long time ago the silver/lead ingot boat was traversing the lake on it's usual run when a huge wind came up and foundered the boat. The ingots sunk well below the ground level in the lake bottom, and are still there to this day. Get yourself a ground penetrating radar setup and find new wealth in the lakebed. The ingots were transported to the other side of the lake by boat, and then taken to Los Angeles by train. Treasure is everywhere.

I believe the name is Owen's Dry Lake. It used to be a lake before Los Angeles took all the water. That's where the silver/lead bars are. Many figure they are about 50 feet buried in the lakebed silt. The Lake is located at the base of Cerro Gordo rd, and goes over to Hwy 395 Below Lone Pine. @@lightningdemolition1964

Brent you are some kind of billy goat at heart. You've got some real drive to go to the places of beauty and danger that you draw inspiration from. Keep on exploring, building, climbing and creating, you have made so much out of so very little. You should be proud. Great, scary as hell video!

Hi Brent, I love your videos, they are excellently produced. I do have one bit of feedback for you though - you rarely introduce people who help you out very well. It helps those that don’t watch every video or are new to the channel. Eg Who is Scotty? Maybe a 10 second piece to camera about his background. Also an onscreen graphic with their name and what they do every time they first appear in a video would be very useful. You introduced Bobby this time and when Heavy D was on you did the same but many of the secondary characters you haven’t. Even a graphic would be better than nothing as it helps us form a connection with these people.

That is one thing I wish I could put in my bucket list. But I do know its one thing I know I won't ever do. With the lost of both my legs above the knees I do know it will never happen. So I always find one I can do. That is one awesome thing to watch someone do. Going up with out a rope like I have seen people do before is crazy. So awesome Brent.

Gonna be honest. Even when he restored it.. it ain’t gonna be bumping. Maybe he’ll get a few or dozen guests at the most. But there’s really not anything that special to attract a lot of people. There’s already a bunch of old mining places that are abandoned that no one really cares about.
