I just love drawing, doodling and tangling (and Zentangling)... and of course, colouring and painting!!! And they all blend so beautifully together :) Dyan, your video is marvellous... its fun to watch and easy to follow!!! Keep up the awesome work :)
A cool trick with this, after you paint the black if you go around with a stencil and the white dylusions spray it will pick up the ink underneath and the white turns various shades of pastel colors. It looks so cool. Extra cool with the stars stencil.
it is very easy once you start as each tangle is just built up in little bits. Don't be afraid to try it, you'll love it once you start :) Check out this website - tanglepatterns.com/. It's got tons of tangles and tutorials to help you get started.

Dyan, you've got to see this book called Ghost Layers and Color Washes. A similar technique like this is used in art quilting. The author is called Katie Pasquini Masopust. Her book is on Amazon US, maybe in the UK Amazon version as well, if not let me know and I'll ship you a copy!
this looks great..wonder if anyone has tried with anything other than water brush with Dylusions ink? Those brushes aren't cheap and to have one for every color would add up...could you use brush markers?
HI, I've done it using inktense pencils, which are like watercolour pencils, but they have ink in them and are very vibrate once you add water to them. They are also permanent when dry. i'm sure you can use any medium. Have fun whatever you use.
You can get cheap water brushes for around 3 for $2 on eBay. They don't last forever but I fill them with inks and they last quite a while before they start leaking - however at the price you can treat them as disposable.
Please, please Dyan; check out the Zentangle website. I think you would LOVE it! They call the beginning doodle on the page a "string" (like you dropped a length of string on the page), and fill the interstices with patterns - "one stroke at a time". With a little guidance, it's amazing the intricate patterns anyone can create, even if they think they "can't draw". Your patchwork technique is very reminiscent of tangling.
To bad that I cant find these stencils anywhere in the Netherlands and that’s soooo frustrating!!!! Does anyone know where I can’t by these stencils online (for the normal price) and send to the Netherlands?
Nice but those Holtz water brushes are 8$ a piece so that’s an awful lot to ha e one for each color. impossible for me. I’ll use a decent but reasonably price set of markers for 20$ tops. So expensive for a water brush, so one is about all I will have.
