Just an FYI, doing my 2nd ever map, first one from scratch. At the point where you inverted the face and it was clear from the top and not from the bottom and said if it looked like that to skip the next step. Whatever changed, you need to do the next step no matter what. It would not show up in Giants Editor unless I did that 2nd step also.

Just a heads up now you'll need to use the newer export version just my experience the 9.0.1 didn't even show in my options the newer one works fine

totally agree. this video is over a year old so ng so quick.. one has to always make sure you use the latest versions.. and keep ur mind sharp to juggle the changes in everything hehehehe.. but for sure the latest normally works best :) bless you

Hi Bob thanks for the tutorial, I'm trying to do this with you 16x map but only half of the map shows in blender, any idea of being able to see the whole map?

When you export you need to zoom out so the entire map is visible. Then export. But im not sure this process will workbon 16x as that export will be very complex. But give it a try, unless you have a monster pc. Hehehe. 😂

Just recently became a patron and like the videos. I'm having so much problems trying to get this Blender export to work. I installed the earlier version you mentioned and tried to install the Giants exporter i3D and it came up telling me how to enable it, but it just isn't working. It's not in the addon section or a side tab. Nothing. So I'll skip the Blender bit and try to do multiple planes. I hate that Giants can't fix this.

I'm a little late to the party but I had the same problem but found that some of the file paths aren't correct with the Exporter/blender. I adjusted them and it works great now

Got water working on my map, great tutorial just one question. Do you need to keep the object file with the i3d in your map or can you delete it after you are finished?

Gr8 q Jonas. No what ever you import always needs to be in ur map folder, once u imporred an i3d it becames part of the main map i3d, all its references to shaders, textures etc will be relevant so if u delte that then the connections will be broken and you will find buildings that are white with no textures etc. So best to keep it in ur map. If u run testrunner, it will show you if there are obsolete files and stuff, then u can remove the ones testrunner shows.

Hey Farmer Bob, like always another fantastic tutorial. I'm wondering if you could please tell me where to find the file in fs22 directory with all the materials e.g water_mat ? Im currently making a steel farm gate in blender which i want to give it a galvanised look but not sure what to name the material in blender, i did find the file with all the shaders but no luck with materials. Thank you very much for your time🙂

Hi there, Ok let me try, the materials actually does not exist, they are applied in blender as a material channel. Same as i done in this video with the water. You dont add material, you just add the name (channel). Then when you imported into the map.i3d you aplly the textures to the material in the material attributes window.

So in reality the material does not exist but is a name with textures and shaders applied to it, if you open an ingame map in the text editor you will find the material list just below the file Id section.

Ahhh tricky stuff lol. Thanks for your reply. Ive just made 7 wire boundary fence with wood posts and i used the fencesFarmLevel03_mat name in blender and then in giants editor i added the 3 texture maps and all worked well. So im quessing i can make my own texture maps and add them to a material name that ive typed into blender provided ive chosen the correct name ?? I had a look in the US map i3d text editor and found a big list of materials as you suggested, so i quess i need to pick a suitable material name for my gate im currently making ? And use either in game textures or my own ? Hopefully my questions make sence lol, its been a frustrating last few days with blender with my gizmo ending up with wrong orientation in giants, any way i just needed to go to object, apply rotation and that fixed that issue just in case anyone else has the same issue. Edit..... i think ive figured this out, i was way over thinking this material thing too much 🙄 and i was assuming that the material name in blender had to be a name that the main game uses but can actually be a name ive choosen e.g galvanisedgate_mat and then obviously apply the 3 textures in giants along with a shader etc etc. Thank you very much for your time Farmerbob, have a awesome day 🙂

Hello Farmer B0b question can you make a step by step video on the foliage creator ive tried to install it and run it for about a year off and on and i cant get it to work checked files everything i think looks right but the foliage never shows up thank you for everytjing you helped me alot with my 4x map over this year. I have a serve brain injury so its hard to understand things sometimes but warching you and truthfully other modders as well i have a very nice 4x map which looks very nice but i just cant get the foliage the way i want. The map is a 10 field and quarry and huge forest area around 6 sections and that looks good but the open meadows are not up to my liking. Again any help i would appreciate and if you need to see the map a picture or the map itself i would be welling to try and send it to you i live in the states and. I think i know what country your in but not sure south Africa i think i heard you say that but dont remember sorry if im wrong. Thank you

Hi Bob, I have several farm ponds on my map. Is it possible to make several planes using this method and import them as one waterplane? Or is it best to do them separate?

You can do them all at once using this method, then imports them as one..

Just rinse and repeat the node part till you have added all the ponds, th3n continue to the rest of the process.

Hi Bob . Finally got round to doing my water for my map. But i have hit a snage and cant export the file , the tool to export to giants is giving an error it says upgrade to 2.8x. i have tried reloads on blender and on both giants tools without an luck. any help would be great thanks

As i said in the video make sure you have atleast 2.8 of blender otherwise you need to use the older version of th3 export tool from GDN 👍😉

I did this regarding the mainwater, the box is ticked as ismainwater and is true in the i3D, however, I am still able to drive underwater without getting the message. I only have one waterplane on my map

I fixed it by importing a new waterplane from a different map. That solved the issue with being able to drive under water.

absolutely right, select the plane, make sure it has a rigid body, static selected and the colision mask hex is 80000000 or bit 31 only

If the original was setup correctly all should be well. If not then just redo the attributes in the editor.

yes you can, check your preferences in blender and enable import/export images as planes, and add the google image, then just do as per video...

@@FarmerBoBonRU-vid i exported it and it is upside down, and transparent unless i rotate it then when i do that its backwards. Its exporting what you see from the bottom, rather the top.

Hi Marko.. round planes are not possible in the editor as you can see the moment you click add plane they are all square from the get go. So inside the editor you are limited to either using 10000 planes to make a thing look round or using external sources ro create custom planes as per the video. Bearing in mind if you use a lot of water planes like more than 10 you get weird errors in game. So not advisable. Ie. The vehicles mirrors go black if you are in the cab. Etc.

hi, i am making a map and i added a river and a lake but i want to remove the water fill option from the water cause i just dont like it. i added a water filling station with a water hydrant on the map and i want people to use that instead, i just dont want people to back up their trailers to the lake or river to fill it up coz it is just way to easy in my oppinion. is it something i need to change in the oceanShader.xml or ad a user attribute or something???

Hi bro, no if you watch near the end of the video where i add the attributes to the water, i explain it fairly well there. If u just want to remove the usefulness of the water just uncheck the rigid body tick in the attributes window of the water plane.

@@FarmerBoBonRU-vid thanks for the answer, i did like u said, ticking of the rigid body button, and i just put up a invincible wall/berrier along the edge of the water, like 1 - 2 meters into the water, just so people cant drive like under the water and stuff. so i gues that'l work for now, i cant swim in the water when i tick of the rigid body tho but thats ok. :)

@@SnirlenTV if you leave the rigid body tick on and then under the rigid body tab go to the mask and click the 3 dots, the select reset and select tick on 0 to 7 it should give a mask of "ff" click ok or enter. This should make the water swimmable but not usable. Give a try and let me know👍😉

Not sure what you mean, is the machine stuck or is the fields stuck. But check your log file fir errors and fix those. Also test your map without any mods. So vanilla game. 👍😉

Hi Bob. I have tried this and did everything exactly as you say, but when I open the i3d file in giants editor, the waterPlane is transparent. No color and from the bottom view it is vanished. Only the outlines are visible. Tried it 4 times already and it wont work. What am I doing wrong? Can you please help me?? I goes wrong in blender I think because when you say to activate 'backface culling' your plane is transparent and mine not.

Hi brother when you get to the part where u have to invert the vertexes. I stopped there and said that if yours is white from the top skip the invert part. If you did the invert it will be transparent.

@@FarmerBoBonRU-vid unfortunately Bob, I can't get it right it stays transparent in GE even if I don't do the invert part. It seems that the fill function is not working. Or GE has a problem. I have no idea what else I can do
