It's been a decade and this video is still helpful. I watched it a few years back and only now i am applying it to my projects. Great video. Simple and easy to understand.
Amazing way of showing coordinates on screen! I wish I knew this much sooner!! Thank you! I just tested it and it works perfectly, if anyone has issues they're probably missing a step somewhere. What is even better, on autocad 2016 you don't even need to run the 'regenall' command as the coordinates update automatically every time the file is saved. Only issue I see is using a point, as if anyone tend to use points on their drawing the point styles would change everywhere. In my case I have created a symbol, converted it in a block and associated the same fields here explained. Thank you again!
Thanks for a great tutorial. As a further useful enhancement the point/E/N/Ht can be grouped together to keep them as one object. Then copied as a single object to multiple locations. Regen. All updated correctly inside group. If you copyclip to new drawing you will need to group them again...groups don't appear to transfer between drawings. This was done in full AutoCAD 2018.
This has got to be one of the best tutorials for site engineers. Is there any way of showing a + or - and value for a slab survey at all?… like to show high or low values for an as-built?
HI. Great, thanks. A really useful tip. I understand the coordinates are relative to the world UCS. Is there a way you can change the UCS origin so the co-ordinates treat this new location as 0,0? Many thanks.
Great video, thank you. I too have been using AutoCAD for over 14 years & didn't know this command. However, the position option is not available in AutoCAD for Mac, do you know if there's another way to achieve this please?
thank you for the information. i really like the way you explain how it do it. after watching you do it, it was easy enough to do it. you explain it so much better than all the others. could you please explain how to create a table with those co-ords. is there a easy why how to do it.
hello, if I change coordinate system to my desired UCS, I still got position according to WCS, no matter of REGENALL command or anything else. Is there any help ?
Hello, Am trying to learn how to draw a plot using the easting and northing coordinates. In here we get from out clients a paper detailing the position of their land plot (line by line) and the setbacks and neighboring elements or plot. I can draw a normal shaped plot lie a square or rectangle but the problem is if the shape is irregular. I was told that its possible to use the coordinates provided of its location and draw the plot with them. How you please explain to me how? i tried just entering the coordinates after clicking on the line command but ti didnt work.
thanks for video, but i have little different situtation, i want to set autocad file for longitude and latitude data input so i can measure the area of the plots. is it possible??
EXCELLENT VIDEO. IT WAS VERY HELPFUL TO ME. I AM FROM UZBEKI SORRY IN ADVANCE IF THERE ARE MISTAKES IN MY SPELLING. THIS VIDEO I COULDN'T WRITE A COMMENT, THAT'S WHY I WROTE THROUGH TRANSLATE
Hi Nicadman Can I ask You please How can I create a block with automatic survey coordinates? I create one but the coordinates not changes after REA command.
Hi Nic, I love your short clips about AutoCAD and thank you for shearing. A AutoCAD file of a customer is send to me where the units are in Meters and have some land coordinates. however when I scale it up to millimeters, the land coordinates are multiplying as well. The land coordinates in this case shouldn't change. Do you have a solution to shear. Thanks in advance!
thnx man i badly needed that method ..god bless you, i have a question , some times the area option doesnt show up in field options when i select polyline ,how can i fix that?.....i figured out how to solve that problem and that is by using BOUNDARY command that will plot an object inside your self intersecting curve regadrless the overlap........ regards,HK
I need to do this but survey scale is in feet and drawing units is in inches. When I divide the field value by 12 in my drawing it matches the value in the survey. Is there a way to automate the field so that it accounts for the scale factor?
Thanks very much for sharing this very useful piece of information. I am using bing maps in autocad civil 3D - 2014. This method is working but i want Geo coordinates on my design. UTM , LAT/LON format etc. If you suggest, I can send you any sample file.
today's date is June 29, 2020 I found this little video very useful. yet I noted that the REGENALL did not function in this circumstance for refreshing the data in the fields. (I'm using version autocad 2020) instead I used UPDATEFIELDS and chose to all the items to refresh and presto there it was.
I followed everything you said but still im getting the texts in cartesian coordinate system...can somebody help me out with this.? How do i get utm coordinates?
I am working with a different coordinate system (not easting northing) in autocad Map3D How can i make something like this but for the current coorindate system ?
Great tut! When I insert my field and change precision to '0', I still get 9 digits when the survey supplied to me has 6 digits (same as yours). I'm sure this would have a knock on effect when it comes to setting out?? any ideas???
Label coordinates on point doesn't match with drawing coordinates, even when I click on "update field". How to set the origin of label to be the same as the drawing coordinates?
