Creating Interest With Flair and Panache
In the video the British Dapper talks about creating interest with flair and panache. He talks about the difference between not just wearing a suit and wearing it with flair and panache. How Wearing a pocket square, a brighter coloured tie, being well groomed not only in your hair, but your beard or moustache, if you have one. Making a difference. Wearing Polish shoes or even better mirror shine pair of shoes and having a positive attitude to wearing those items can really make a difference.
We hope you enjoy the video. If you do, please feel free to forward it and recommend it to friends or family members who you feel might benefit from it’s content.

Thank you for this great video Chris. I am a habitual sport coat wearer. I think it gives me more versatility than a suit. In addition, I work in the machining industry and a suit would alienate me from my co-workers and suppliers. A sport coat with nice slacks is the way go to for me. I have started wearing pocket squares around a year. ago Mostly, I coordinate it with the color of my shirt or pants because I do not wear ties to the work place. Sometimes I go with a complete different color but keep it harmonized with the other colors I am wearing that day. My tip for gents who want to start wearing pocket squares: If you are not feeling comfortable to wear a colorful pocket square and you want to get more used to it, wear a color close to your suit or sport jacket. As example, wear a light brown, khaki colored pocket square to a dark brown jacket. It harmonizes nicely and does not stick out so much. This is how I have started until I felt more comfortable with pocket squares.

Hi there, great to hear from you again Kay, I totally get what you mean about fitting in, at your place of work. A sports jacket, trousers and a good pair of shoes, raises the bar enough to stand out, but not to much to cause issue. I like your idea of a starting point wearing pocket squares. I would just add you do need a little contrast between the jacket and the pocket square colours, but it doesn't have to be too loud in colour👍🙂 I guess in the situation with your peers, the way to standout from them if the dress similarly, would be in the quality of your items, the immaculately pressed trousers, shirt and the polish on your shoes 👍🙂 Great tips Kay and thanks for sharing👍

@@TheBritishDapper I work for a French company and our dress code is extremely relaxed. Hoodies, t-shirt, jeans and athletic shoes are the standard here at the US location. We have always some French expats which show up in nicer clothes at the beginning. As soon as they realize the lax standards, they ditch the business clothes faster than you can clap in your hands. I stuck out with my art of getting dressed but I do not care. I like it that way. I have heard there is talk in the aisles about it and especially about my nice dress shoes. Lately our VP of Sales came to me and told me that I dress very nice every day. I liked that compliment and it boosted my confidence.

I find a tie bar and cufflinks sets off a suit and gives it the flair you mention.

Hi there, Cufflinks and French cuff (double cuff) shirts are a great way of elevating your style with a little bit of flair and panache. I agree with you that a tie bar can also elevate your look, but i would note that a tie bar is generally not supposed to be seen, and should be work 4-5 buttons down your shirt, where as a tie pin is designed to be seen in between the 2 -3 button down. I'd just watch you don't also add pin badges or boutonnieres as well as it can seem a little cluttered and distracting 👍🙂

Great Content, Chris. Suits are my favourite attire, and you can certainly add versatility to the way you present them by using a different coloured shirt and then experimenting with a suitable tie and pocket square to complement the whole outfit. I also prefer to wear a double cuff (French cuff) shirt with a suit, to which I add antique enamel cufflinks that also chime with the existing colour theme of the ensemble. I do like period wrist watches, and have a small collection of quality, but inexpensive, models from the 1950s and 1960s, each of them with attractive dials that add a subtle element of interest to an outfit without being too showy. Lastly, while I am not a fan of wearing brightly coloured socks with a suit, I have seen plenty of respectable gents that do and have made it part of their trademark style. The London Sock Company offer a terrific colour range of plain and patterned socks.

Hi John, so true, a suit is very versatile and gives flexibility between the formal and semi formal of wears. The use of additional accessories - ties, pocket squares, cuff links and coloured shirts to give you a myriad of choices for different looks for all occasions, whether formal or less formal wears. I find French cuff (double cuff) shirts add another level of detail and elegance and that affords the use of cufflinks. A nice watch will also draw attention and one with a particularly nice watch face or detail is a good conversation starter. Socks can make a significant difference to a person's look and The London Sock Company is a good place to find a range of unusual sock patterns at affordable prices, whether for formal or fun, the trick is to get the balance right from a sartorial point of view. Glad you enjoyed the video and your continued support for the channel dear friend. I have eventually replied to your latest email, sorry for the delay👍🙂

Do you always need to wear a pocket square?
@TheBritishDapper
@TheBritishDapper 8 месяцев назад
Hi Mo, you don't have to wear a pocket square, but from a sartorial point of view I consider it a wasted opportunity to add that little bit extra to your look and it tends to demonstrate to others that you dress at another level👍🙂
