Excellent job. I've neeb running around saying you can't loop w/it. Now I'll say it is possible albeit in a very creative fashion.

on the pod you can have two simulated amps playing at the same time, as if you were playing your guitar through two different amps simultaneously. so you would set up the rhythm track on amp 1, then switch to amp 2 to perform the solo, as he does at 2:21 (look at the left half of the screen)

@bassnicola Amp 1 and Amp 2 are the same as Tone 1 and 2 in the context of this video. If you set it up as described, the delays will trail over to Tone 2 within the dual tone patch.

@javioni If you can't hear Tone 2 please check to make sure you don’t have it muted in the Outputs section of the POD.

Yes. You can create a similar dual tone patch and achieve this but you really don't have to with the POD HD500 as it has a built in looper.

@buntytitili I'm not sure I understand what you mean but it SOUNDS like you may have Tone 2 locked on your POD which is why every patch you go to has the same tone 2 sound dialed in.

Plug your guitar into the Instrument In of the POD and then come out of the LEFT LIVE OUT on the X3 into the Guitar IN on your Spider. I'd suggest setting your Spider's EQ to a clean flat channel if you are going to use the modeling from the POD.

@xxxblucoxxx You should be able to use most delay effects as long as it has a Repeats parameter that you can adjust. You want to set your repeats to max.

@saber200000 make sure you are switching between the tones and not using the expression pedal to morph between the two. Also make sure that when you switch, the second tone has been disabled completely. It should keep spilling over though.

@ArturoKano the X3 Live has been discontinued and replaced by the newer POD HD line although you can still probably find X3's fairly easily online for sale.

is there a controllable midi map for outputting program change messages to an amp which has midi changeable channels? I am aware that the x3 outputs the same pc message as it reads on the input, however I Need to output specific PC messages

@1990EAM are you running the latest firmware version on your POD?

I'm not sure I understand your question. Create a single tone and just add one delay to that tone patch?

@beastlymeldp You can't because this isn't a true looper where you can simply turn the loop function on and off. He's using delays with infinite repeats so the only way to stop it would be to switch patches. You could probably set up another exact patch on a different channel without the delays engaged though. That may work.

@Lusthorns Unfortunately, we just have a bunch of little sound clips that we create in house and use. I'm pretty sure this is one of them.

@bulletproofassassin In general, you want the Feedback parameter on your delay effect to be at 100%

I was able to do the same thing he did by using the looping on tone 2, using my riff to loop, then switching tone 2 off and back to tone 1 only and the delay and riff stays and loops while u can play over it just fine.. that was my problem.. I couldn't do it from 1 to 2 for some reason

I wish you would show us what speakers you run your sound out of...also wish you could demonstrate how to use a loop station with the Pod X3 Live using the send and return 1/4 plugins....I use a Jamman Loop Station by Digitech...not sure how it should best be hooked up..so far much frustration..causes buzz....

@line6movies I don't understand when you say Amp1 and Amp2, is it the same thing as Tone 1 and Tone 2? Because when I change from Tone 1 to Tone 2 I lose the effect from Tone 1, right? But, according to your video, if i make this fake loop, it will continue to make the sound? Cheers,

@Pistavampire Specifically, I’m not sure which tones you are referring to, but we do have hundreds of X3 tones up at the CustomTone (dot) com website.

yeah =/. i really wanted a looper in it and maybe a harmonizer too xD. i love those two but i liked everything else about the pod that's why i didn't get the gt10!

can someone please answer this question. This is the scenario. I have an amp, an electric guitar, the pod x3 live. IS that enough to do what was done in this video or do i need some kind of software or anything else to create that effect? Reason i'm asking is right now i have no access to my guitar but i bought the x3 live 10 hours ago

what I'm more interested in is how to get that delay setting you hear at 1:19-1:23 when it says amp settings 2, that delay is really cool, anyone have an idea?

@simonpvo2 The only way you'd be able to do this is to switch to a different channel and start your new loop.

here is the trick , can you make that loop sound records long riffs like playing 5 chords that last for 7 or 10 sec long? that would be awesome if it can.

@haloreachslug This probably won't work too well with the X3 Live. You may want to consider one of our products that has a legitimate looper built into it - Spider Jam, JM4 Looper, M9, M13 or POD HD.

@finishembird No because the POD isn't a dedicated looper. You’d need something that can actually record loops which the POD cannot do.

Anyone else see this issue with the volume pedal? One issue I've had, even with the latest X3 firmware is, the volume pedal is set to post instead of pre when you first switch to the amp (footswitch or software) no matter what you have it saved as (I have mine saved as pre). This means your delay pedal picks up audio with the volume pedal at the heel until you toggle the pedal to post then back to pre.

Whenever i try this, the ping pong delay screws everything up. When I press my TONE 2 button and play, the notes keep getting repeated as if the delay on TONE 2 were ping ping - why doesn't my POD X3 Live seperate the 2 tones ?

@TuGinecologo sorry but no. That's because the PODxt Live does not have dual tone capabilities.

when it comes to multi-effects pedals you can't go wrong with line 6.....Boss is better when it comes to individual stomp boxes.

is anyone else getting a really nasty feedback sound from the tone 2 setting? it sounds right but if the volume's on and i'm not playing, i get a really noisy feedback sound. how do i get rid of it?

what are people liking more the x3 live or the HD500X? i have pod farm 2 and like the sounds from it better then the hd500x. is the x3 live the same or real close to pod farm 2? if so thats what i want to get. and i see more professionals using the x3 live as well.

@line6movies I'm kind of frustrated, I've followed every step on this tutorial because I found this tip very interesting. But I can't get this to work fine. I've got the Loop effect, but I've setted Tone 2 already and I can't even hear it. Besides when I step on the pedal in order to switch to Tone 2, I can see that it switches but can't get no difference, just keeps on looping the notes I play. Please, help me, I really want to get this beautiful toy to do it. Thanks!
