In this video, I'll be showing how to add a custom voice to your own Skyrim NPCs. This is the method straight from inside the Creation Kit recording tool, although I may cover other methods in the future.
The video includes setting up dialogue views, creating your voice and lip files and then making sure they are the correct format for Skyrim to understand when packed into a BSA.

Using the creation kit is by far one of the most unpleasant, angering experiences i have ever had with any engine or creator, in glad this tutorial was here to keep me from losing my mind

Fantum Pixelz I wholeheartedly agree. Bethesda is still insisting on staying stuck in the 90s. It’s terrible... and not good news for any upcoming TES game.

So the geck of Skyrim functions like the one of New vegas and Fallout 3, So, Guess that search tutorials of New vegas or fallout 3 of the geck?

I'm an American. I have no idea why, but I find it remarkably easier to learn this shit from a guy with a British accent. I probably should have just gone to school in the UK, come to think about it; would have learned my lessons much more effectively from teachers with accents I think.

The first time I tried this in game it didnt work, but then I opened the Kit again and previewed the recording and generated a lip file again and then saved and went back in game and it was working fine. I didnt know what you meant by 'reload' at first, whether you meant the game or KIt but I did both. Thanks for this tutorial

Good day. I edited my modification, which was made on the old version. The NPC does not want to talk. Creating SEQ does not help. Conditions and everything is set up correctly. What can be? Thanks in advance for the answer!

Dear DarkFox, thank you for what you do for the entire gaming community, your tutorials are invaluable. I had one question about creating a dialogue and I addressed it to the Nexus's Forum, where they advised me to watch the DarFox's video and said that: "You are a great person!" (I absolutely agree with this). I wanted to create a monologue and did not know how to do it, it turns out that Creatine Kit has an "invisible answer" checkbox, I did not know this and it seems that your tutorial does not mention this. But I have another question: In some mods, I see dialogs in the "Player Dialog" window, but there is nothing in the "Dialog View" window. How it's done? Do you have a tutorial on how to create a dialog without using "Dialog View"? (my english is very poor and i find it hard to search in english resources) Or maybe, can you advise to look at the tutorial of another guy who is just as talented as you?

awesome video man thanks. i want my NPC to give the player a key during the dialogue. I've already seen a tutorial for this which requires quest stages and aliases. Is this the only way to do it or can it be done just as part of the dialogue?

Very helpful, thank you very much. The only doubt that I have is how to add the voices from a pre-recorded file, i find the rooting a little confusing the voice file space.

Darkfox127 I'm trying to figure out a way to convert Ashers2Asherz Make A Follower Kit to use to make Male Standalone followers. (I'm good friends with Asherz on FB) Not enough Male Followers in Skyrim Modding. Its been a tough one, but if I do I am going to release My own Standalone version of My Thor character and custom voice it. So seeing this vid was super helpful.

First must say I just joined your channel. Wanna say thanks for all the tutorial, it gave me a big push to learn all this and commencing a big MOD for skyrim. Learning has I go. This tutorial, made the dialogue and all is working great. But I'm at a stop. I want to give to the person that is talking to my pc, some things. Like books, money, armors, etc. How do I do that ? I know it has something to do with the fragment script but that's all I know. Please help so I can continu my project. Thanks :) (french guy from canada).

Brilliant tutorial as always :) Just wondering is there a way to add pre-recorded dialogue for the responses instead of recording them on the spot, and what does the unfuzzer actually do?

It's 2021 October and you can easily add dialog with xvasynth mod and a special plugin for it to create fuz files on it's own...modding rn is simple..all I missed was the seq file generation..after that things workd

Thanks a for this tutorial, I learned so many things. Sadly, not the things I was looking for, which is modifying the combat dialogue. I want my follower to not speak every 2 sec in combat

what about passive dialogue? like when you pass a guard and they randomly say something with you prompting the talk button.

No hopeful for an answer but... How do I add the dialogue from an NPC to a character I created? For instance I wanted to create a child who used some of the lines Dagny uses (the spoiled girl child in Dragonsreach). I also created an argonian who was supposed to be a friend of the player already and I wanted her to say some of the lines Wujeeta uses "It is our most favoured company" How do I get them to say that?

so for the recording step, no file appeared under the audio setting area, yeah just redid the steps to 8:47 again and its still not showing up. The voice type is not appearing, it still lets me record and preview though. Edit: figured it out, I missed the drop box on the actor

I am trying to do this but my NPC simply won't say the dialogue. There is no option to say what I want the player to say. Btw, the guy has a built-in voice. If it is impossible to have a working dialogue with a built-in voice, please may you make a tutorial on how to make a uniquely-voiced innkeeper?

When I press ok after I Typed in the Id theres an error message: "Form's ID is not unique! Previous is type Actor." What does that mean? I set my character to unique.

All these videos do the whole.. Voiced follower.. Im a girl..I cant get on the mic and start talking. My follower uses the "Even tone male elf" voice. So will this tutorial even work if I cant record any talking? Or is there another way to add dialogue I should be doing?This seems really complicated. What if I dont want to add an actual voice?

Hey there. Thank you for the content. It has expanded my creation kit/skyrim experience greatly. So check it out. I have a bandit that randomly talks. I got him from the tower before bleakwind barrow. I want to re-create him as a standalone follower but when I duplicate him he doesn't talk randomly. He usually says things like "two threes, fool never saw me pull that ace out of my boot." How can I gain control of the random things they say. And also. When you approach someone and they have certain things they say. Like I duplicated Fianna to make her a maid in my player home but she does not say" don't go tracking dirt on my clean floor." I really want her to say that. But also I need to remove "ain't nobody high and mighty in these halls,except in the jarl." How can I do those things?

Yes, just to avoid reloading last quicksave for dialogue to work.

Good video! I've learned quite a bit. I have a question if you don't mind me asking? Can anyone answer this if they know how. How do you make dialogue only appear in specific locations for say a follower. Like I want the dialogue to disappear and only show up say in Whiterun. I thought all I'd have to do was put the character Getisid and Getiscurrentloc-Whiterun.. doesn't seem to work. Dialogue is showing up everywhere still. I want to be able to ask my follower questions about specific places while at them. I got idles working but doing this is not workking...I'm assuming there needs to be different conditions added.

You have to use condition '' IsLocationLoaded''' and then pick location you want and thats all

@@BlaBla-lt8id Thank you! I have one more question if you have the time, do you know how to use the script function getformfromfile and make two custom esp followers interact with eachother? I have a Legend of Zelda mod I'm working on and I'd like for Link, Zelda and Ganondorf to all speak to eachother. It's how say Recorder interacts with Ambriel despite them both being separate mods. Or how Lucien interacts with Kaidan. I for the life of me can't find answers on how to do this fully. I know you have to put them as an alias, and fill out properties.

Can anybody share me that soft? Most websites contains only restricted version of CK, there's too few tabs in quest window, FE dialogues are absent, even on steam. Pls link some good CK.

it is a bug with CK 64, i had to buy oldrim again to be able to use the audio stuff ...

Daedric Johnson I ended up using the old kit as well but for some other unknown reason that crashed as well in different workflows of the kit so in the end I gave up on creating quests and custom voice followers.

After i record my voice and click save the LIP and WAV file value still is N not Y. So it doesn't work. Do you have any idea why? i tried recording audio file with other programs create wav with 16bit and 48000hz, then it find the file, in game it works but lips wont move. That's because i don't have lip file, and in CK i cant generate lip file because the box/button for it is grey. I searched internet for 8 hours now and i cant find solution.. please help me

You just need to download the file from where you want and open it with some unzipper like WinRAR or 7ZIP. There you will usually see some folders like textures, meshes, scripts or just data. Go to Program Files/Steam/Steamapps/Common/Skyrim and drag everything into the data folder.
