It's very bad that spongebob games are underrated. They are one of the best in the genre

This game may be weird, but that's what makes it special.

Such an underappreciated game! THQ and Blitz Games did not disappoint when it came to diversity in SpongeBob games, and while I do like BFBB and the Movie game better, it's still a sweet, fun game! BTW, Fred, can you do a review of Crash of the Titans? It might help change people's opinion of the game!

That main menu music. SO MUCH NOSTALGIA! This was my first SpongeBob video game and I got it on the PS2.

By far, this is my favorite game for the PS2. And I actually find the Alaskan Bull Worm Level to be my favorite. mainly for the overall strangeness.

Ok so SpongeBob can drive: A sandwich A rock And even a car Yet he *_STILL_* can't drive a boat.

This really needs to be rereleased on the psn store and Xbox live.

Creature From the Krusty Krab is my favorite Spongebob game. Battle for Bikini Bottom is my second favorite, and the movie game is my third favorite. I noticed you complained about the length of each of the levels, and the graphics. Personally, the length of the levels never really bothered me. I think it worked for the kind of story that this game was trying to tell. It tried to tell three overlapping stories, that added up to nine chapters total, and I honestly think they succeeded. If they made the levels shorter, then the game as a whole would have been much shorter as well. Nevertheless, the levels were so fun and well designed, the length never bothered me. As for the graphics, I'd disagree in calling them subpar. Creature From the Krusty Krab makes the most creative use of the graphics in my opinion. I never found them dull or anything like that. SpongeBob's opening racing level has a gritty heavy metal vibe, particularly in the facial designs of the characters, with the rest of the level following suit. Patrick's levels have a cell shaded look to them, while the giant Plankton levels have a cool film effect that makes them look like a old B - Movie. In the Alaskan Bull Worm level, the environment inside the worm's stomach pulsates in a strangely soothing way, that it makes the entire level feel, alive. It's an amazing affect. Not to mention, the flying levels in space and Bikini Bottom which are just a joy to look at in my opinion. Anyway, great video as always Fred. I owned the Wii version of the game. I have very, very faded memories but I remember the comic book Patrick level. To be honest, it was actually pretty fun to play. I wish the games today actually had the word "quality" in it, but I guess Activision doesn't know that word nowadays.

I played through this game a billion times already and it never gets old

UPDATE: Late comment but it's all good. The Wii version of Creature from the Krusty Krab has better textures during gameplay, but shitty mandatory motion controls to go with it. The GameCube version's textures are scaled down due to compression so the graphics are much worse than they're supposed to be. I went with the GameCube version in this video because it's all I could record at the time. The PS2 version is middleground: Graphics are normal (still not as good as the Wii version) and it's the most convenient to play. Choose whatever option is the best for you. If you have a PS2, just get that version, unless if you have a Wii and wanna wave your Wiimote in the air for those winch cranks, lol. I wouldn't recommend the GameCube version unless if you only own a GameCube and just wanna play the game.

Fawful's Minion did place this game at # 3 in his top 5 Spongebob games, so he's one of the few youtubers(along with you) that sing this game's praises. I do really like this game too. Had some fun times with it and it was a very good Wii launch title, even if I only own the gamecube version. :p

I wholeheartedly agree when you said this game is underrated, as it really does boggle my mind how many people, even for people who like Spongebob and Spongebob video games don't consider this to be another great game in the licensed SpongeBob catalogue like say, Battle for Bikini Bottom or The SpongeBob Squarepants Movie Game because while I do enjoy those Spongebob games as well, this one I feel, in my opinion at least, deserves the same amount of praise Battle for Bikini Bottom and The Movie Game get because of its creativity, diverse gameplay styles and above all, just how fun I believe this game is.

Creature From The Krusty Krabs is one of my favorite SpongeBob games ever to play. I started off with the PS2 version and when that didn't work anymore, I now play the gamecube version. My favorite music out of the entire game is meteor mania in the bonus game of Rocket Rodeo. You say that we will never see a SpongeBob like this ever again. I beg to differ because we have Revenge of the Flying Dutchman, Lights Camera Pants, Battle for Bikini Bottom and the upcoming Cosmic Shake which are all original SpongeBob games.

I Fucking Love this Game! I love the music! The Surreal Air and Unusual Atmosphere to it makes it feel so unique from all the other Spongebob games to a point where it doesn’t even feel like a Spongebob game but rather a weird fever Dream anthology story that just happens to have Spongebob characters. And I absolutely love it! XD Not to mention that the final cutscene ending is fucking Terrifying!! Holy Shit that was so Dark!

I fucking love this game. Always been one of my favorite spongebob games next to Battle for Bikini Bottom. I actually quite like the long levels. It added to the games uniqueness. Despite the linearity, I’ve always felt it’s a game I could get lost in. And the bull worm level is disgusting but I still like it lol

0:18 Yeah, those graphics are honestly very nostalgic to me, for I owned a GameCube at a young age and can still play those games on my Wii.

I felt like this was the strangest but most addictive of all the Spongebob games from before they traversed to the Wii/360 era. I loved it and it plays so well. It may even be better than Battle for Bikini Bottom. All in all a very shockingly superb game. Granted, you're playing the Gamecube version.

This game was one of my favorite Spongebob games, I actually liked it better than Lights, Camera, Pants. Definitely one of the best Spongebob games out there.

After the release of the cosmic shake game, I hope SpongeBob can still do more new original games with great soundtracks, stories, creative settings, power abilities and more.

I loved this game, it’s my second favorite spongebob game behind battle for bikini bottom. My only problem are the levels especially planktons, are way to long. And I loved how they connected spongebob, Patrick, and planktons stories throughout the game

I had no idea there were alternate endings! I always ended up with the Spongebob ending, because the Zs in his levels were the easiest to achieve. Also, I don't know if it's the HD render or the limitations of the Gamecube version you were playing in this review, but the footage in this review just doesn't seem to have that dreamy filter like in the PS2 version that adds to the atmosphere of being in a dream.

It's so wierd... Looking back this game seems to have had a lot of influence on my ACTUAL dreams... Go figure... :/

Man I never realized how kickass this soundtrack is. I really like how it sounds like some hardcore metal while still making it sound like the kind of music you would hear from an actual episode of the show. Also how come we’ve never had an episode of Patrick being Starfish Man before? I would really love to see that. Especially considering both SpongeBob and Patrick are fans of Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy and Patrick actually comes up with something very original and becomes a superhero that he came up with. I think this is probably the smartest we have ever seen Patrick behave in SpongeBob even if it’s not an actual episode. And imagine how awesome it would be to see a SpongeBob episode in a comic book like art style. That would be epic. And I guess you could say this game actually is based off the Sleepy Time episode. But this game is so different compared to that episode. Especially considering the fact that in that episode Patrick didn’t really have an actual dream of his own. His dream was just literally nothing. It was just him on one of those kiddie rides you would see at a mall or outside of a grocery store. But it’s really cool to see that Patrick actually has an actual dream of his own and it’s a dream that anyone would want. Which is becoming a superhero. And again why haven’t we ever had an episode about this concept before?

It's one of my favorite SpongeBob games 🎮 My favorite character to play as is Plankton 🔥

I remember the Super Sized Patty chase as a child, I would get paranoid and get all panic like and freak out whenever I had to open a door and then die. I also recall loving the Alasken Belly Trouble, that creepy ass music always gave me chills...same with the worm.. This game overall is unique and awesome, and much like you stated probably the last 3D Spongebob game that is awesome. The game overall is linear but has good reasoning, and the unique story + heavy iron theme makes it all up almost as it was a 3rd part to the franchise of Heavy Iron. (Truth or square was very different compared to BfBB, Movie game and this). The textures however are downgraded Battle For Bikini Bottom, Spongebob Movie videogame, and Revenge of the Flying Dutchman. They look like they were pasted in paint and downsized to look like pixel shit. But it's still not awful. The soundtrack is awesome - You can tell they put great work into their soundtrack, from rock (racing) to an eerie finale to the Alasken Belly Trouble If you want to purchase a Spongebob game but not sure which first, go for Battle For Bikini Bottom, them from there work down to this game. This game is worth it and unique from fighting as giant Plankton to racing in a world people imagine while on shrooms. My personal favorite level is Alasken Belly trouble, what about yours +Fred5107?

With regard to your point on the game's having variety, it's nice that the gameplay isn't monotonous, but too much of a good thing can be a bad thing. Take the video game "Remember Me," for example. Like the Legend of Zelda, Tomb Raider, and Prince of Persia series, it had three gameplay elements: combat, platforming, and puzzle solving. However, unlike those games, none of these elements were meshed together well in this game. Remember Me was trying too hard to be different, and in the end, it didn't know what it wanted to be. ...but yes, the platforming is average, and the levels drag on for much too long.

I'm currently playing through this game, just got past the bullworm level (I didn't record certain sections because my videos can't be over 10 minutes) and I actually left out the first Plankton level completely because it's a special let's play, but my problem with the game is that it holds your hand WAY too much

i legit thought i dreamt up this game because i just remember watching a gameplay of the first driving level when i was really young, glad to see i wasn’t insane 😅

What I think is different from BFBB and the movie game is that while those games took full advantage of being a spongebob license, this game didn't. You can't change BFBB without making an entire different game. While in CFTKK with some minor changes it could be it's own license. That doesn't mean the game is bad at all. Just something interesting I found. Not sure if you get what I mean. It might just be me. Overall I enjoyed the game. Don't think I'll go back to it though.
