What kind of credit do you need to buy a home? Credit expert Tim Alvis of Veterans United Home Loans breaks down what the credit requirements look like for VA loan borrowers.
For Veterans and prospective VA homebuyers, VA loans feature more flexible credit guidelines than other mortgage types. You can still get a VA loan with bankruptcy or foreclosure in your credit history. Most private lenders set a 620 FICO score benchmark for VA Loans but having a higher score increases your chances of securing a lower interest rate.
