Mama Creed took in Adonis because she had genuine love for his father and the legacy he left behind. And she would never turn her back on one of his children especially one who had a such a difficult start to life. She's a wonderful woman. They do exist in real life as well.
I don't get what he meant by that line. To prove that he was not a mistake by being born or prove that he's not a mistake as a fighter? I took as meaning he could never live up to his father's legacy
@@B-a-t-m-a-n well, he was born out of wedlock and is therefore considered an illegitimate child, but that stuff should not bother him since it was his dad who was having all of those affairs. He's just a product of Apollos infedelity, if anything it reflects on Apollo. It should have no bearing on Adonis
"One step at a time. One punch at a time. One round at a time." Fun Fact: Carl Weathers, who played Apollo Creed and is still alive, gave his strong endorsement to the movie and Michael B. Jordan's performance. Jordan felt extremely honored. American Flag Fact: Sylvester Stallone requested that Michael B. Jordan wear the famous American flag trunks that Apollo Creed wore in Rocky (1976) and Rocky wore in Rocky III (1982) and Rocky IV (1985) to keep tradition in the "Rocky" universe. RIP Sage Fact: Just as the film was entering pre-production, Sylvester Stallone's oldest son Sage Stallone died of a heart attack. Stallone has admitted that the loss almost sent him into a full breakdown, but Ryan Coogler was eventually able to convince him to use the film as a dedication to Sage, focusing specifically on the father-son relationships that appear in it. Although initially resistant, Stallone said at the Golden Globes that Creed (2015) helped him cope with Sage's death.
And just a side note to the Sage story: when Adonis goes into Paulie's room, there's an old picture of Sage and his dad in front of a heavy bag sitting on the dresser.
"You go somewhere...they ain't got no teeth, and the menu's f-up'ed--the food is off the chain." Every video from EOM Reacts has at least one line that makes me laugh so hard, I have to pause the video to compose myself. This was that line. You, my friend, are a national treasure. Never change. Never quit.
What makes it truly funny is that if you've lived long enough, you know he's a hundred percent correct. lol. I can't remember the movie, but J.L. talked about "old man strength" and said something like, "Ever see an older man who's just strong as fuck for no reason?" I damn near pissed myself because I used to admire guys who were built tough like that and now that I'm almost 50, my youngest son said that about me. lol
Through this film series we've seen Rocky as a young man and now Rocky is like Mick and Adonis is like Rocky. Imagine a film series with the same actor spanning his entire life.
@JL The fact that you think differently or can be man enough or better yet HUman enough to admit you missed Paulie or caught much of the message of the film to how we age, how we fight thru loss and adversity, is why many of us subscribe here. Your emotions are tied with your little doggies as why many of us love the channel. NEVER forget that
The reason all the Rocky universe movies hit so hard is because they're about finding a family that loves you in a completely hostile world and it's not something most people actually get to experience. Sometimes that makes these the hardest movies to watch because looking into the mirror is the most painful thing you could do The first time I saw Creed. It took four hours because I had to pause the movie. I couldn't handle it Thanks for doing this one. Thanks for always being amazing. And thanks for all the work that goes into these. It elevates my day every time When you guys get to Creed II, I would highly recommend you look at some of the deleted scenes. There's one scene, in particular, after the movie's fight that should never have been cut and it's only like 30 seconds or a minute long Thanks again
Seriously, I mean this with all my heart, THANK YOU for the reverence you show this series. Your reactions to all of the Rockys and Creed have been absolutely perfect.
For a guy that did not like Paulie throughout the 6 movies I was pretty surprised by your reaction to his death that had you shook we didn’t get to say goodbye to Paulie or Adrian Edit: your reaction to let’s go tear the city up and he’s just sleeping was so funny made my day 😂
I thought for SURE that J.L. was gonna be like, "Bout got-damn time! Fuck Paulie! Paulie ain't shit!" lol. Quite a different reaction than I expected. lol
Fun Fact: Gerald Tommaso DeLouise compiled a 17-0 record as a professional boxer. He was 32-2 as a boxer in the Marines. He later changed his name to Burt Young and went on to play "Paulie" in the Rocky movies. EDIT: He was 17-0 and was trained by Cus D'Amato (Mike Tyson's Trainer) from the late 60's to 1970.
I love right after you said," this don't feel like a Rocky movie. He isn't fighting for something." Then the line," I want to show I am not a mistake." And Rocky says he never got to thank Apollo, then the whole movie took a turn and now it's emotional. Great reaction, man!
I fricken Adore you. I watched every Rocky reaction with you. I saw the first one at the theater the week it was released when I was 8. It got better and better as I got older. Has always been a masterpiece in my eyes. Plus all the others as well. I cried and laughed right along with you even tho I have seen these literally dozens of times in my 54 yrs of existence . Thanks for being you! You make me smile⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️😊
Seeing Rocky visiting Paulie (just like he did with Adrian) hurts every time realizing that, even though he was an asshole a lot of the time, Paulie was all he had left of his old life since he doesn't have much or a relationship with his son. Great reaction to a great movie.
Looking back at the first time you saw this, on a date. Aren't you glad that you didn't know the rest of the story? Cause you'd have been crying for half the movie. Much love to everyone from here in the UK
Yeah Stallone has stated he re-edited the Apollo vs Drago fight to have him put up a better fight against Drago , so his legacy wasn't so tarnished....but they already trashed his charecter by making him a cheat that knocked up a ring rat.
I was skeptical of the last Rocky movie but ultimately it was fun to spend time with my old friend Rocko. These movies have been in my life for most of my life. Rocky 2 was one of the very first movies I saw in a theater. Watching TV and movie series like this feels like spending time with old friends.
@JL was a treat to see you start the Creed serious. I was shocked at how much I fell in love with this series. Was fun to see you like it and get the emotional scenes. When Adonis says to Rock "He had to prove he is not a mistake" I understood that my wife who I sadly lost last year was a "surprise" baby 15 years later then her 4th sibling and it affects how she related her whole life sadly
Creed Baby YAAHHH!!! Creed 2 was good also but this one is Special!! Love the natural connection Adonis & Rocky Developed!! Love the callback to Rocky having Adonis chase & catch the chickens like Mickey had Rocky do in Rocky 2!! Shoutout to the Best Skilled Fighter in the whole series Apollo!!
38:52 I always loved the friendship between Rocky and Apollo.....and now Rocky has become somewhere between a surrogate father to Adonis/Donny and a mentor for him like Mick was for Rocky.
Ryan Coogler came up with the idea and approached Stallone about it. Originally he said no but then he saw Fruitvale Station which was also written & directed by coogler and starred B Jordan. That's when he agreed to do it.
Omg. If it’s been said, sorry. “Rocky gonna make you walk outside, buck naked and make you take a buttah knife and fight a lion”. This is why you are the best reaction person ever. ❤
I wish ppl saw and talked about how he was in a deadass knock out. Cold. Until he saw his father he literally jumped up like his father possessed his body. My fav part of the movie ❤️ “There is no tomorrow!” - Apollo Creed. That boy definitely got his father heart and mind of bravery, I’ll tell you that much .
Stallone retired the Rocky character with Creed 2. I believe he may be doing the same with Rambo. That said his new character Dwight Manfredi (Tulsa King) is hoot.
Knuckle baby stains 🤣🤣🤣🤭😂🤣🤣🤣. As far as the son rocky always deserved. His son got spoiled and didn't know how to handle living in his father's shadow and rocky didn't know how to handle that. Great video and channel. Keep up the great work 👍
I have watched the rocky movies, my whole life. And i watched them with my father. My daddy was a boxing coach, had coached my whole lifetime almost. We lost him two years ago. These movies are a hard watch for me. Thank you for making it easy to rewatch in a way. Your humour gets my through it. Thank you for being you. Thank you to Blank and the co pilots as well.
These two Creed movies are excellent, even if they are loose re-hashes of the first four Rocky films in seperate ways. But this upcomming third movie not only looks great, but is pretty much independent on its own.
You made me genuinely belly laugh with your commentary after Conlan knocked Creed down. Your emotional reaction to it all was near similar to mine, the Rocky verse means the world to me. Seeing others experience it so, is beautiful. Thank you
That comment on the heavy blanket on the couch about killed me, LOL. My parents had that exact one for our den couch and it was a monster to fight under, like you were stuck in quicksand.
The reason the face down butt up creed knockdown looked so real is because Michael b Jordan accidentally miss timed his head snap, he turned into the punch and got knocked out for real making the movie
The combination of JL’s reaction, and people looking up knuckle babies in the live chat was hysterical. Still would have been the best reaction video of Creed even without that. Nothing but the best from JL and Blank as always. Respect and love!!
Ive seen all your reactions to the Rocky's...but completely forgot your chubs references, and right out the gate you Chubbed it! And I spent five minutes cleaning up the beverage that shot thru my nose!.. The lion and butter knife 🤣, but dude, I was bawling at the end! Five star reaction! Love to you, Blank and the co pilots!!👍💯❤️
At 32:50, I don't know why, but it made me think of another movie you should watch: Clint Eastwood 's Million Dollar Baby, featuring Hillary Swank, Morgan Freeman and early career performances by Anthony Mackie and Jay Baruchel.
I saw this flick in theaters with my dad who emigrated to Philly when he first came to America and was a lifelong Rocky fan. The smile on his face after walking out the theater was impeccable.
Rocky has been in my life since I was a kid. Made me better at sports growing up. I wasnt excited for this movies because Rocky ended on a great movie. Even having the spin-off made me upset. This is probably the 2nd best Rocky movie made. It blew me away.
Hey man, good to see Paulie get his respect finally. I think we all assumed you remembered Paulie dies cuz you said early in the series you have seen creed already. Have a good one
I think they should make a prequel from the perspective of Apollo’s old trainer. Start with something ending his career as a boxer. Then maybe he becomes a drunk or just angry all the time. Then he discovers this young boxer named Apollo and finds purpose in training him to become the next heavyweight champion. Call it “Duke”.
Stallone's son-his first born-died in 2012, and a lot people think that's why they didn't include Rocky's son in this movie, because he just couldn't handle it
Yay!! I’m so happy right now!! And I agree with you on everything .. I cried my eyes out the first time I watched this.. I can’t t wait for you to watch part 2 it’s also a great movie .. your my favorite!! My love to you and your babies .. ♥️♥️
I think your assessment on the relationship dynamic between Rocky and Adonis is accurate. Looking forward to your reaction on Creed 2, hope its sooner than later.
So many MCU actors in this movie. Killmonger from Black Panther. Valkyrie from Thor. Stakar from Guardians of the Galaxy and Gale from Ant-Man. Nowadays in Hollywood if you are an established actor and you aren’t getting tapped for the MCU, fire your agent. 😂🤣
