Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR) is a legendary American rock band that rose to prominence in the late 1960s. Known for their distinctive Southern rock and swamp rock sound, CCR achieved widespread success with hit songs such as "Bad Moon Rising," "Fortunate Son," and "Have You Ever Seen the Rain?"
CCR was formed in El Cerrito, California. The band initially consisted of lead vocalist, lead guitarist, and primary songwriter John Fogerty; his brother, rhythm guitarist Tom Fogerty; bassist Stu Cook; and drummer Doug Clifford. These members had played together since 1959, first as the Blue Velvets and later as the Golliwogs, before settling on the Creedence Clearwater Revival name in 1967. The band performed at the 1969 Woodstock festival in Upstate New York, and was the first major act signed to appear there. The band's timeless music and enduring influence have solidified their place in rock history. Explore the iconic sounds of Creedence Clearwater Revival, a pivotal force in the evolution of rock music.
Despite originating from California, they are renowned for their unique fusion of musical genres that embraced the essence of the American South. NPR has characterized their sound as a captivating blend of blues, New Orleans R&B, and rockabilly, while AllMusic acknowledges their creation of a distinctive synthesis encompassing punchy rock & roll, swamp pop, blues, and country. CCR is recognized as pioneers of both swamp rock and country rock, and their repertoire spans roots rock, blues rock, and Southern rock. The band's lyrics often delved into themes rooted in the Southern United States, from Bayous to the Mississippi River, avoiding traditional romantic themes and instead focusing on politically and socially conscious subjects, most notably the Vietnam War.
Rolling Stone has honored CCR by ranking them 82nd on its prestigious list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time. The band's albums have made significant marks on music history, with Green River securing the 95th spot on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time in 2003, followed by Cosmo's Factory at 265, and Willy and the Poor Boys at 392. Additionally, Rolling Stone recognized several of CCR's songs in their 500 Greatest Songs of All Time list in 2004, with "Fortunate Son" standing at 99, "Proud Mary" at 155, "Who'll Stop the Rain" at 188, and "Bad Moon Rising" at 355.
"Fortunate Son," one of their iconic tracks, was inducted into the Library of Congress' National Recording Registry in 2013 for its cultural, historical, and aesthetic significance. Furthermore, "Fortunate Son," "Proud Mary," and Cosmo's Factory have all earned well-deserved positions in the Grammy Hall of Fame. Notably, "Proud Mary" secured the 39th spot on VH1's "100 Greatest Rock Songs" list, and "Bad Moon Rising" was ranked at 363 on NME's "500 Greatest Songs of All Time" list. Creedence Clearwater Revival's enduring legacy remains deeply rooted in the annals of rock and American music history.

Should have pointed out the opinions would be skewed since neither Tom nor John were interviewed for this production. But good anyhow because I grew up loving this band, and still do to this day. Loved seeing the old performances.👍🏻

Shame on John Fogerty for doing away with that gap in his teeth. It was quite endearing. My son has one. As long as I have any say, he's not having it "fixed." Bring back the gap, John!!!!

I guess that John Fogerty in his old age still shows signs of being like a resentful girlfriend. Very talented guy, no doubt, and very controlling for what I understand. I’ve been listening to these guys since my youth, still listen to them. CCR to me will always be the four original guys. Tom must be laughing from the heavens thinking nothing has changed after so long. Long live CCR. ☮️

To Bad that Doug, Stu and Tom were So Jealous of John and All his talents. They were the Ones that Broke up the Greatest American Rock Group... "The Night of The Generals" and Marti Grass , the worst Album ever released by a Major Rock Goup....

Total BS. There is only one CCR member who moans and sooks luke a 3 year old and blames everybody else, for everything. But never does any self reflection. Pure sookie.

Y si ellos estaban celosos y envidiosos todos eran la orquesta y John era el cerebro y quizás la soberbia de los tres Tom, Doug y Stook , terminaron con el corazón del alma que era John,

They played so well but unfortunately jealousy from 3 of them ruined them staying together! Proof is the 3 did nothing after that except play John’s songs. Sad
