He deserves respect, amazing musician and person. One f the greatest songwriters of all time.

What a nice dude, he really isn’t speaking bad on anyone’s name, just telling it how it is. Major respect.

Sometimes lead singers leave bands because their ego gets to them, and they feel they are bigger than the band and the band had little to do with the success. In Fogerty's case, and this is refreshing to say, he deserved to leave the band and go solo. His guitar, voice, and song writing were beyond key to the band's success. Getting sued after going solo for sounding too much like himself, was absurd, and demonstrated that he was better off without them. Good for him.

What kills me about Stu Cook and Doug Clifford is that they were tired of just being a bass player and drummer to songs that John Fogerty wrote and sang. So today they make their living being a bass player and drummer to songs Fogerty wrote and sang.....only now they have a different singer trying to sound like John Fogerty......and they are happy ??? WTF ??? Epic Fail !

Saw Fogerty perform here in St. Louis this summer (2018), and his show was e.p.i.c! Far and away one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to: even in his 70’s, John Fogerty is the real deal - a living legend. I’m SO glad I got to stand less than 100 ft. from the stage and witness one of America’s greatest rock icons perform his best music.

Just a great dude, music, heart, soul. Just awesome.

One of the most interesting band stories in rock history. Not your typical story of sex, drugs, and rock n roll. The body of work this man wrote in such a short time is astonishing. Seems like a good guy, too.

I’m 34yrs old . I started listening to CCR early 90s . I was maybe 7or 8, I was a kid. I fell in love with the sounds of the guitars & they way he sang. People trip out when they see me driving or in my garage listening to this music. Like what’s this young man know about CCR lol. It’s 2019 & My son is 14 & can sing most of there hits today he’s not your typical teen who stuck on this mumble crap going around today. I’m so glad I instilled this music in his mind when he was a baby. He’s becoming a young wise man at such a young age & I truly believe it’s because of this music. Forever thankful for the men who introduced this music to me when I was a kid. Thank you.

CCR was the biggest band in the world from 1969-71, thanks to John Fogerty's brilliance. Hit after hit after hit. All classics.

When you are in a band with a guy who is the lead singer, plays the lead instrument, and has written hit after hit and made the band huge because of his unique voice, shut up and be glad to be riding his coattails.

I have seen John in concert 14 times in the last 15 years or so. Traveled all over the country from California to Connecticut to see him and hear his great music. He is ageless and a great performer!

Really pisses me off how Fogerty was treated😠 a lot of that has to do with the fact he's in the top 3 reasons why I picked up the guitar in the first place but still... he was treated so unfairly. Such a great writer!

I could listen to John for literally hours on end, man does he have some interesting and enlightening stories. My favourite bit was when he talked about his song "Vanz (Zanz) Kant Danz" being openly directed at Saul Zaentz, what a legend 🤘😂

Creedence was actually Fogerty with some dudes who were around at the time.The band should have been called John Fogerty band.

John was CCR and is a talent and inspired me musicwise!

John Fogerty was my hero growing up. A NYC kid listening to Green River and dreaming about kayaking and fishing in the bayous when my only experience of the wild was NYC's Central Park .. What a sound. What imagery. What a voice ...... Between CCR, the DOORS and The Kinks ... The musical soundtracks of my life.

My all time favorite artist, love ya John Fogerty and CCR.

I was lucky to have been a young dude during the height of CCR, The Beatles, Hendrix, Cream, etc. and all that amazing music. But it wasn't CCR that interested me. It was Fogerty's voice, unique style of guitar playing, and great song writing. He could have hired any other 3 musicians and done the same thing, but his bandmates could never say the same. They were nothing without John. The man is a legend, and what happened to him was criminal and an injustice to us all.

A golden lesson! Read before you sign, don"t let others do it for you! How many years of pain because no-one sat down and read all the small print. however long it took. How many people are shafted by signing something, even down to buying a new car? Glad he survived all this!

This is why copyright should run out after 40 years, and then go into public domain. Most of the people who are still making money off of all those old rock and roll records from the 50s and 60s had nothing to do with their creation.

I had the pleasure of seeing John and his band at the Florida Theater, in Jacksonville, Florida back in 1997. What a Great show he put on. Played all the hits, and the new album Blue Moon. Never will forget it, what a great show!

John Fogerty is a man of total Celtic class, a master at his many trades as a wordsmith, poet, storyteller, historian, fortuneteller, frontman, a rocker with a gentle soul and kindest heart, I love it when John saif that he had planned to dance of Saul Zanetz grave but later knew that he should not do that, John is just not nasty enough or vindicate to do that I could say more but will leave it for others to add to the list of the many great gifts and deeds of the great John C. Fogerty.

Wow..John still looks AMAZING!!! He is a timeless soul!

I recently seen Fogerty with ZZ Top. John sound awesome, and he has his two sons playing in the band with him. Really, an hour set with nothing but huge hits. Great musician and songwriter.

I remember back home in Chile walking around with almost all Creedence Clearwater Revival récords and bringing those records to the party’s, in Chile they where number 1 of all times and the band will never die,thank you CCR for such good memories,this was in 1970,s and when I have the chance to see John Fogerty here in USA live I crye like a baby heheheheh.....

Stu Cook and Doug Clifford did to John Fogerty kind of like what Don Brewer and Mel Schacher did to Mark Farmer from Grand Funk Railroad. Bite off the Band's Songwriter and Composer's hand as if he didn't exist. Without the Fogerty Brothers THERE WOULD BE NO CREEDENCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL. Fantasy co-owner Max Weiss renamed the group the Golliwogs (after the children's literary character, Golliwogg). Bandmembers' roles and the instruments they played changed during this period. Stu Cook switched from piano to bass guitar and Tom Fogerty from lead vocals to rhythm guitar; John became the band's lead vocalist and primary songwriter. In Tom Fogerty's words: "I could sing, but John had a sound!" In 1967, Saul Zaentz bought Fantasy Records and offered the band a chance to record a full-length album on the condition that they change their name. He had never liked "the Golliwogs", in part because of the racial charge of the name, and the four readily agreed. Zaentz and the band agreed to come up with 10 suggestions each, but he enthusiastically agreed to their very first: Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR), which they took in January 1968. According to interviews with band members 20 years later, the name's elements come from three sources: Tom Fogerty's friend Credence Newball, whose name they changed to form the word Creedence (as in creed) a television commercial for Olympia Brewing Company ("clear water") the four members' renewed commitment to their band. CCR was the first Band to sign performing at the Woodstock Festival. CCR continued to tour incessantly with performances in July 1969 at the Atlanta Pop Festival and in August 1969 at the Woodstock Festival. Their set was not included in the Woodstock film or soundtrack because John Fogerty felt the band's performance was subpar. On November 16, 1969, they performed "Fortunate Son" and "Down On The Corner" on The Ed Sullivan Show.

Down to earth guy and after all the crap his old CCR label and former management put him through all those years. It is very sad that Tom and John never really made amends before Tom passed away.... Great to see John still out there rocking and at 72 he has still got it.

If you don't love the song this man has brought to this world I don't know how you live and you can sense how humble regards the issue

I saw the “Blue Moon Swamp” tour at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville-oh, my God, did John kill it! He performed like a man possessed. All the great CCR songs. He is such an incredible human being.

1998 I think it was after he started doing the Creedence stuff again he toured Australia and I had the privilege of seeing him in Melbourne. What a privilege it was.

I first saw John at Universal Studios in Florida. We were at a Builders convention in early 2000, he was amazing I got to party right at his feet. I couldn’t believe how amazing he sounded, how great he played, I loved every minute of it!

Bought Sweet Hitch-hiker on 45 in 1971/72 for 65 cents. I was 10yrs old. Wore it so thin, it only had one side!!

I admire this amazing man immensely! I think the whole world lost out big time that John's career was side-tracked for so many years when he could have been giving us more amazing music - Damn all those who held this genius back from the rest of us when he should have been free to further explore his creative talents that only have a limited time. The understandable bitterness from his unfair treatment, I feel, has squashed his ability to create to the level he was in the late 60's, that surely would have continued for at least another 3 - 5 years in the early 70's had he been allowed to.

I had his book a couple of years before i could get to read it, my life had been to much in turmoil to sit down and read a book, but i read it out almost in one go. John was and is creedence, great for him to be happy now.

CCR wouldn't be anything without John and the band screwed him over. Its sad really.

Possibly the actual fact is John Fogerty was always getting the mountain of television exposure, that was definitely being shined on him during televised performances...Thereby affecting the personal emotional sense of fair play for the other 3 band members.... Should of stayed the course earning name recognition one way or another , then branched out doing solo projects after CCR has run dry its string of #1 Hit Songs ! Just a thought of what may have been possible if egos didn't ruin the band !

One of the things which so often happens in these things is- You need advice or guidance in an area and you have no one in your circle to get you to the right person. If they had had the right attorney to comb through the contract, things might have been much different.

John’s story is similar to Mark Farner’s dealings with the other members of Grand Funk Railroad.

John is one of the most humbled legends even if he had his moments of dominance among his peers who couldn't do.. he did it for the team... he was and always will be credence..

CCR's Royal Albert Hall concert in 1970 is about as close to rock and roll perfection as has ever been captured - Fogarty and the band at their peak.

In addition to being the lead singer/lead guitarist/AMAZING song writer and arranger, it sounds as if he did most if not all of the incidental footwork that goes into running a band. Add all of that up = 24/7 and then some.

Love this. There was so much i didn't know about CCR. WOW. JF deserves so much more. His music is some of the mist beloved tunes ever. To think that he's been through the wringer that much is truly sad.

I grew up listening to CCR in my armature years of drumming and I loved the band ,for me John is the man ,, CCR without his voice is just another band, even though they are all great musicians and in especially Doug , from whom I learnt a lot as a 12 years old rookie drummer , his opening in I put a spell on you took. E to the roof and I worked my skin off to learn and be able to play that roll as good as he did as well as all the other tracks he did in CCR , and I wish he would stand beside John and let the CCR rolling .

John wrote the songs, but he agreed to share the royalties with the other band members. Very generous of him. I prefer his songs with CCR though. That sound and music was magic. His solo stuff was good too. Just my preference.

I saw John Fogarty 5 times. Fantastic. The last time around 7 or 8 years ago. He was jamming his hits a little longer. Really getting into it. What a surprise. Also I understood that he was not allowed to play his own songs for the year mentioned in video. He could not play it legally. Thats why he started playing them again. One of the true talents.

John you are the man ....If things and situations turned out different you would have kept CCR together , ""they lost out"" and we did on a lot of great music from CCR I love you John !! Lisa

John's experience is a case study in why playing with guys who are at a similar level of talent is so vital. This happens a lot where you play with guys since middle or high school but one guy is leaps and bounds ahead with his talent. I mean, who's going to keep up with a John Fogerty?

A lot of people don't know Creedence never had a number one hit.
