We all thought this song was about a psychotropic drug experience. When you learn that it was inspired by John's son and written from the perspective of a child's imagination, it makes the song so much more precious. John Fogerty is a musical genius.

So similar to Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. Everyone thought it was about an LSD trip (Lucy Sky Diamonds) until John Lennon revealed that it was about a picture painted at kindergarten by Julian Lennon.

Back in the '70's, our Dad would play this song, and we kids would love to listen to this fun jam, looking out our back door at the farm we grew up on. Our house, our farm, and my fam are now long gone, but my memories remain. I thank both y'all for helping keep those memories alive!

CCR is part of my DNA. Very relatable, everybody has needed to sit down and take a rest on the porch. CCR is like a warm summer day with the sun shining brightly and a blue sky. Problems? "Bother me tomorrow." They were the real America of good-hearted generous people, not the sick Hollywood verison

It's so nice to see reactors that truly feel the CCR vibe. You nailed it--CCR is the most American of American bands. Part of the reason for this is that they bring in influences from several American musical genres: blues, country, and rock. They could do happy songs like this one, written from the perspective of the imagination of a young child, or more serious subjects like being anguished by the knowledge of contributing to a deadly accident (Graveyard Train). They paint little vignettes of American life, which, taken as a whole, give that overall feeling of capturing the American zeitgeist of a certain time. They sing about a happy childhood vacation spot (Green River), the frustrations of dealing with the fast-paced rat-race city life (Commotion), the unfairness of who fought in Vietnam (Fortunate Son), the small-town floozy's shenanigans (Molina), generalized foreboding (Bad Moon Rising), the sad story of a musician stuck in a small town (Lodi), feeling cursed by bad luck (Tombstone Shadow), boastful overconfidence (Penthouse Pauper), the fun of not quite following the rules (Bootleg), being an outcast (Porterville), and so many more besides. You asked how often we still listen. Well, their greatest hits album, Chronicle, is still charting even now. I listen to them pretty much every day.

I love you guys. I would probably tune in just to hear Andre say, "hello and welcome back....." but then, you have so much fun listening to the music and it makes me smile. I got my first two albums when I was probably 13 or 14. My brother gave them to me for my birthday. I was a trumpet player in band and loved Chicago but my brother wasn't a big fan of them so he gave me a Chicago album and a CCR album to put his own influence in. They have so many great songs.

I can rember listening to this song at my grandaparents house when I was a kid. My grandfather disapproved and was mocking John Fogerty's "doo doo doos". Didn't stop me from loving CCR all my life and being lucky enougth to see JF live twice. At his concerts he has so many songs that he knows his fans want to hear that he has to play some of them in a medley of shortened versions.

CCR has been part of the background music of my life. I was coming of age, musically, just as they were flashing across the music sky like an extended length shooting star. I was 10 years old the first time I heard their recording of the song Susie Q, coming from the crummy little dashboard speaker for the am radio in my dad's car. I was enchanted with the haunting sound of the song, and with the singer's voice. I still am enchanted with everything this band recorded, 56 years later. So, yes, I do still have their music on cd, and they get played at home and in the car.

CCR also produced a southern rock ballad masterpiece: "Have You Ever Seen the Rain?" (composed by John Fogerty; included in the album 'Pendulum', 1970). BONNIE TYLER made a version of it and released it in 1983. ROD STEWART included this song in his 2006 album 'Still the Same... Great Rock Classics of Our Time'; note that his live performance is magnificent. Thanks.

Such a fun & happy song. The song's lyrics are filled with such colorful & dream-like imagery that some people believed that it was about drugs. But John Fogerty has stated in interviews that the song was actually written for his then 3 year-old son Josh. Fogerty has also said that the allusion to a parade passing by was inspired by a Dr. Seuss book.

@jeff-pm6mj 2 месяца назад
Fun fact- John Fogerty's brother Tom is in the band and after CCR broke up, he went solo. Give a listen to his bluesy song "Train to Nowere". It is amazing how much he and John sound alike. Lot of talent in that family. Thanks for all you do and keep the CCR train rolling!
