This trip starts with a 15 foot vertical drop into a creek that you could spit across in certain spots. I show how I go super lightweight and compact to legally kayak fish a creek with almost zero public access. It's a part one of two in this watershed. The second part of this video is called "A
Kayak Fishing Access From Hell", and it made this 15 foot vertical drop access look easy. Watch it next!

Looks very much like a lot of the streams I fish. Sometimes I'll just carry an ultralight combo and some trout magnets and just see how many fish I can catch. It's a lot of fun!

The trout magnet absolutely catches everything! I love the gold one.

I think that they show a healthy creek!

@@TheLittleStuff indeed. Is there a better sign? They are definitely going to choose a body of water that can provide them great feeding opportunities

Do you have any thoughts on itrek 11? I am looking at an inflatable but with the pedal option. I’d be using it on rivers and lakes but not as hardcore as you do.

Reach out to Jake Harshman. He has some experience with that boat.

I think I have you beat on the dink fest hahahahhah my last trip was to the paint river in Michigan and all that exists there is cookie cutter smallmouth nothing bigger than 13..😬
@TheLittleStuff
@TheLittleStuff Год назад
I got one that went 13.5. I also caught my personal best smallmouth (by length) less than 20 miles downstream of where this was filmed.

@@TheLittleStuff its weird how certain sections are better than others. On the paint river I was above a dam and it's beautiful smallmouth habitat but just loaded with dinks, below the dam it's a different story with bigger smallmouth and less dinks. The River is infested with rusty crayfish so there is plenty of forage yet the smallmouth don't appear to be eating them LOL

@@BassManStrikes I find dinks down from big fish generally myself. Time of day you fish a section can definitely color your opinion on what is dink water and what is not. Sometimes river fish get on a early or late bite. Good video Jeff. I would have just waded upstream on this, left the kayaks and gear at home. Definitely used to take kayaks in small streams. Wading is just more efficient for me. Great job trying something different.
@BassManStrikes

@@IndianaSmallmouth in my case I think the rusty crayfish might be causing the smallmouth to get stunted, the river has a unbelievable amount of them and there is literally no weeds in the river and maybe the lack of weeds is causing die offs in the winter?

@@IndianaSmallmouth I fished it in the morning and evening same thing, I also fished it 3 years ago and it was exactly the same super weird river LOL

so how is the kuda holding up and did it hurt the bottom after going through that rock

I had a thorn puncture- slow leak, easy fix with AquaSeal. I wish the material was thicker. Sea Eagle and Innovative Sportsman inflatables are heavier and heavier duty. It’s a trade off.

Small creeks are cool
@TheLittleStuff

I like how ready they are to eat. Zero pressure. Occasionally you are surprised by a big. Not this day, but it somehow feels better to catch an 18 or 19 incher from this kind of water than my usual haunts on the Susquehanna

I agree an 18 out of small creeks is way more rewarding!
