Comparing this to the first video you did on CW4 ages ago has been quite a journey, I love how its turning out! Just to think, I played CW1 in primary school all those years ago :)
Watching this video just made me buy (AGAIN) Creeper World 1 (anniversary edition? yeah!!!) from Steam!!! I'm glad I could contribute a tiny bit again! Creeper World 4 is already on my Wishlist! Thank you so much for all the work!
man this game has always had this kind of psuedo 3rd dimension to it because of the terrain levels but this game is actually going to have it and it's great. Idk why it's taken me this long to appreciate that Also the sniper fire sounds are extremely satisfying.
This is actually one of the things i find really interesting. Eventhough you didn't have actual 3D, i never had problems distignuishing different terrain levels and seeing the third dimension
honestly I don't understand why YT doesn't support multiple audio streams at this point... this issue would vanish as long as people recorded audio separately. There's this article about HTML5 from back in 2011 gingertech.net/2011/05/01/html5-multi-track-audio-or-video/ I assume it exists by now lol
@@knucracker Are you recording your voice together with footage? You don't record videos very often anyway, so if that's the case, you could try recording your voice separately with Audacity and then edit it together - you'll get to hear the effects before upload, at the very least ;P
@@catgode It is like a "let's play" so it is hard to record voice after the video as it is not a "preview" video, nor a trailer, etc. So it would be quite hard to not go too fast (or too slow) to be able to record audio after the video is shot without doing huge post prod work. The aim is not to do an ad for the game, mostly to show us what you will be able to do in it.
Will it be possible to have emitters gradually emit more creep as the game progresses, to make it more challenging mid-game, late-game? Also really looking forward to this, been a fan since I discovered Creeper World 3~
If that isn't made in the beginning, there will be a way to do it, in Creeper World 3 and Particle Fleet, you were able to create mods and such that would change the game, it was a coding language that was created for the game that I believe was used to create each game, CRPL was for Creeper World and I can't find the one for Particle Fleet, but that would allow you to program something like what you are wanting
was going to post the same! make it emmit more gradually and maybe add more artillery and make the digitalis grow more over time or something, to make it so that when you get to the creeper's level of power (when you finally get a stalemate and are able to start advancing) you'd still need to pay attention in case it tries to go through old undefended paths or maybe the digitalis grew towards your base, or artillery is too much to bear it'd probably be way harder of course, so it'd need to be an option I guess. or by map to map basis. is there a mod like this for creeper world 3?
It's awesome watching the progress. I can't wait to play it. I'd be sure to check the Discord. Just a friendly suggestion: Turn the sound effects a bit, so we can hear you talk.
Flip breeder looks interesting especially since it’s a piece of terrain effected by whichever creeper is present. Reminds me of those flip emitters in CW3 of course.
Always like watching the progress of this game. Still remember playing creeper world the flash game all those years ago. And seeing it in 3D is still so nice and jaw dropping. Never imagined the game in 3D. Ya know, had a pretty insane idea watching this... you what if a map was an actual entire planet? Like almost Planetary Annihilation level. Makes sense given what the creeper is and what it does. Probably beyond the scope of this game but man imagining it is so cool.
Oh yes, being able to travel around a full sphere and have the creeper flow in from any direction could be a lot of fun! (What time is creeper high tide today? ;)
A developer that cares about there game and there customers. Being totally honest you will get my money when its done just because your so dedicated and simply care about your game and what you give to us without dumb DLC :) Cant wait hope its out by Christmas so i can play with my hot chocolate! keep up the hard work we are all proud of you and your work and are excited!
I wish there was a multiplayer mode for this game, i always imagined playing VS or Co-oP with my dudes. All vs the GOO, or Purple/color of choice Goo Players VS Human Players
Seeing the eco value and saving the trees makes me curious: Does one get a simple score boost for saving the trees / wildlife, or is there some grand purpose, such as colonizing worlds.....?
Every new video the game looks better and better Is it just me or do those emitters no longer produce those spikes of creep?? Would that mean Cornucanis/CORKY maps are possible? I certainly hope so 🤤
The light source being bottom-right seems so counter-intuitive when the map perspective slopes away from you, can it be configure to be from a top corner?
I just got a heinous idea... Creeper World with FOG OF WAR. Though it probably wouldn’t work that well, considering the Creeper isn’t as strategic or intelligent as an opponent in Starcraft or Age of Empires.
Since the Miners are a thing now and I don't see the Reactors in the units list, will Energy Guppies (or Porters in this case) be a thing again and this time on the finished game?
Love the state of the game and can‘t wait to play it. But please turn the volume of your voice up compared to the game sound. It is hard to understand what you are saying, especially for a non-native speaker. Thanks for the update!
If I remember right, the soundtrack is just royalty free placeholder music, but he did mention he was thinking about keeping it. This was a while ago though, he might very well have just made a soundtrack since that was mentioned
There is about a 99% chance that one of the campain missions will involve the discovery that the creep can, under certain circumstances, convert AC into C. after all, we can turn C into AC with the sattilite-thing and between us and the creeper, they would be the one with the better Creeper-related tech.
where to pre order this game? I bought your bundle, cw 1,2,3 and a particle blablabla. Awesome, had a great time. So where do I pay for the new game? And btw, I played dota1,2 for 2,3k hours. both war3 and dota2 are dev ed with some 3d view but they show object the same scale when it's near the camera or far away. Which makes players easier to click, and screen keeps a rect on minimap.
Quick question here, that I have not yet seen answered anywhere else: Is the 3d aspect going to impact the map design directly at some point? Like, will we be able to make overhanging terrain or even caves?
This is one of the most-asked questions. The answer is that the game mechanics don't support caves, overhangs or bridges. There area many, many complications and increases in computational complexity to have multiple layers of terrain and creeper and have them interacting. As well as considerations for how the game should operate in those environments.
Does this version have any sort of multithreading capabilities to distribute some of the load from a single core? As a developer I understand the massive cliff of complexity that is multithreading, but I do recognize common elements that could be offloaded to other threads that don't need to have synchronization with the main threads state. Then again I'm a C# developer, I don't know how accessible concurrent processing is in CPP.
Probably not. He said on the website that it takes around 3 1/2 years to make a creeper world game. He wrote that in 2017 so it might be 2020 or 2021. His stance on it is "It's finished when it's finished"
I've got to admit I bought this game recently on a whim, expecting a few hours of fun gameplay. I didn't hold high expectations. I was so wrong! It's like when you play chess and theres just something addictive about it and you think wow what a game to invent. We'll this is the same, it's incredibly addictive and alot like a futuristic game of chess with endless possibilities in the editor.
Because the map is already rendered, everything in memory, it is just like unpausing the game. Most of modern engin allows "instant" rendering of a scene (not a whole game of course). The engine already loads a playable map on which an editor GUI is displayed. it's like programming a java app in an IDE and just pressing "run", unless there are a bunch of dependencies, dozens of classes, etc. it is almost instant.
It's really difficult to hear you over the sound effects and music, could you possibly turn up your mic, or turn down the game sound for future videos.
I'm going to always suggest this. Can you make it Co-Op or some type of multiplayer? Would be nice top play with others especially my brother. Even if you can't I'm still buying and playing this game
@@EvilMcSheep Maybe, but it's still a very important mechanic, especially at the start of the game. It would also be important if both players want to coordinate an offensive drop.
I like the eco loss score thing. The green color of the towers makes me feel like they're regrowing the land from where the creeper bulldozed everything. Never really was a fan of the timed score because the game makes it fun to create long epic battles.
The concept of Eco regrowing, Soylent being a "spreading invasion" are not new. However, as luck would have it, today your comment sparked something. We were talking around how to best integrate Eco into the game and the game scoring mechanism. I happened on this comment and we're going to evaluate the Eco trees growing on the player's soylent (green) area. There will be at least one test of this system soon.
Game looks great, but man I miss the self-spreading land-exploitation from Particle Fleet. It both looks cleaner not to have little one-square holes in your land exploitation and it also plays WAY less fiddly.
